Conrad’s POV
‘Alpha, Doc is here to see you. Are you still up or are you busy with… her?’ Sean’s voice fills my head just as I am about to get out of the shower. I can feel his distain through the way he says “her”. I check my watch and it’s almost eleven in the evening, why is Doc here so late.
‘Yeah, I will be down in a few minutes, just got out of the shower.’ Wrapping a towel around my waist, I walk out of the bathroom to see Hazel still laying naked on my bed. The smell of sex lingering in the air. I roll my eyes. She knows the rules, she isn’t allowed to stay after sex.
“What are you still doing here?” I say going over to my closet to find some sweatpants and a shirt to change into. For some strange reason, I feel like dressing away from her prying eyes. I shake off the strange feeling. I drop the clothes on to my bed to change but decide to wait for Hazel to leave first.
“Aww, come on, baby. I get so lonely at night without you.” She coos at me and for some reason I don’t find her voice sexy. Her blue eyes never leaving mine, she climbs off the bed and saunters over to me. Her long blonde hair swaying around her. Her hands trace my naked shoulders and down to my waist. Her fingers lace the edge of the towel. “Oops!” She giggles as she tugs the end of the towel making it fall to the floor.
I raise my eyebrow at her and give her a small smirk when she falls to her knees in front of me. “Hungry again?” I say when she wraps her hand around my shaft. I groan at the feel of her mouth and tongue sucking me. Closing my eyes, I let her have her way with my cock for a bit. Right before I am about to cum, I pull her off of me and bend her over the bed. I pull out a condom from the bedside table and slip it on.
“Baby, you don’t need that… I wanna feel you bare inside me.” She says, but I ignore her protest.
With one hard thrust, I am seated to the hilt. I work my cock in and out of her. Her moaning is getting on my nerves for some reason. What is wrong with me right now? I have been with Hazel for a while, and her voice has never bothered me before. I push aside those feelings, and it doesn’t take long to find my release. Wrapping up the condom, I dump it into the trash. I look over at Hazel who is now sporting a scowl on her face. “What? Say what you gotta say then go back to your room. The Doc is waiting for me downstairs.”
“Why do you have to be so mean? Why can’t I stay?” She crosses her arms over her breasts with one hip cocked out to the side. Normally I would find her pose sexy, but now? Something feels different.
“Because you know the rules, Hazel. You don’t stay.” I run my fingers through my still damp shoulder length dark black hair. We have had this conversation way too many times and it was grating on my last nerve.
‘Dude! I can only entertain my little brother for so long before I want to punch him in his face. Stop fucking the dirty pussy and get down here.’ Sean comes through the mind-link again. I never understood Sean’s open hatred for Hazel, and nor will he talk to me about it. I guess he has his reasons, and I shouldn’t pry.
“It’s because of the twins, right? It isn’t my fault they don’t like me! If they weren’t such brats….” Hazel says but I growl at her before she can finish her sentence causing her to take a step back.
“Watch what you say about my pups! Now get out!” I walk back into the closet. I know I have clothes on the bed already, but I need to step away from her. Why do I put up with her? I am ending this right now.
I walk back into the bedroom and a smell of floral hits my nose, relaxing my anger. Was that scent there previously? I look over at Hazel and see tears in her eyes. Why is she crying? I rush over to her and wrap my arms around her. “hey, hey, hey, it’s ok. I was too harsh with you.”
She sniffles back tears, “I know I am being silly, but I just want to be with you and your kids as a family. I know you only see me as… HER… since we are cousins.”
A bucket of guilt washes over me, was I too hard on Hazel? She is nothing like her. “Hush now, you are nothing like her. Listen, how about you pick out something nice at the jewelry store and I will buy it for you tomorrow after I make my arounds at the hospital and packgrounds?”
She smiles a watery smile up at me, “Promise?”
I nod. “Now off to bed, as my secretary you have responsibility to take care of in the morning.” I give her a little wink and slap her on her butt. She kisses my cheek and leaves my room with a small bounce in her step.
Titus growls in my head, ‘I don’t like that she-wolf.’
I mentally roll my eyes, ‘She isn’t that bad…’
Once dressed, I head downstairs to find Sean and Doc in another argument in the foyer. Something about their mother liking one better than the other with a rebuttal of “Well at least mom never forgot any of my band rehearsals like she forgot to pick you up from football practice. You cried like a baby.” With a growl, “THAT WAS ONE TIME!” Sean whisper yelled at Doc. Trying to keep their argument from waking up the whole packhouse.
“Doc,” I pull them out of their petty disagreement. “Why are you here so late?”
For the first time in weeks, I saw a new light in Doc’s eyes. “Alpha! He agreed! He’s coming here!”
Sean throws his hands up and walks away annoyed, but I just look at him curiously with zero clue on what he is talking about. “Doc, what are you talking about?”
“The Sherlock of Medicine! He will be here in the next few days!”
“Lets take this to my office…” Sean and Doc follow me down the hall to my office. I mind-link the packhouse manager to keep an ear out for my kids in case they wake up. He agrees before cutting the mind-link. “So, he agreed?”
Doc nods his head, “Yeah! The States’ royal Beta just called me to inform me and ask about arrangements for the teams’ stay. They are also bringing some warriors. He asked if they could join in daily training.”
Sean snorts in anger. “A whole fucking team is coming!? How much is all this going to cost us? If he is so great, why does he need a team?”
“Actually, Dr. Mason doesn’t want any compensation. They only ask that we provide lodging accommodations and meals which we would have provided for anyone coming to stay at our packhouse anyways.”
Sean scowls at his little brother. “You are telling me; this superhero doctor doesn’t want money? I seriously doubt that. State wolves are selfish pricks!” He crosses his arms over his massive chest. “Look why can’t we just try to solve this issue ourselves? Outsiders are only going to cause problems like they always do.”
My heart went out to my best friend and Beta. He’s always had a grudge against wolves from the states. His hatred started when he was a kid. His father was from the states, and he abandoned their mother when she was pregnant with their second pup to move back to the states with his mistress. Sean had to step up and be the man of the house at such a young age.
“Sean, we can’t keep letting wolves get sick. Just this morning, I got word that three more packs are showing symptoms. If this doctor comes here and doesn’t help us, then no foul. We send them on their way and find a different way to help the Northeastern packs. But what if there is a chance, he can help us? We can’t let anymore wolves go feral and die…” I say as I give his shoulder a squeeze in reassurance. Something is telling me that this doctor is the key, but just like Sean, I have my doubts.
I can see Sean mulling things over, “Fine, I trust you, Conrad… Lancon, if things go sour, it’s on you and I am not saving your sorry ass!” He points his finger at Doc before walking out of the office with a slam of the door.
Doc just stares at the closed door. His shoulders slump in defeat. “Something is going on with him. I know he has always hated State wolves because of our father, but recently it’s gotten worse.” He turns to me, his eyes filled with mixed emotions. “I won’t leave Dr. Mason’s side. I promise to keep an eye on him, plus it will be one hell of a learning experience for me.” He smiles weakly at me.
I pat him on the shoulder, “Come on, it’s late and tomorrow we need to start making arrangements.”
Third Person POVQueen Luna Ciara sat at her desk, going over the contracts for another one of her charity projects when the scent of Christmas trees filled her nose. The door to her office opens, she looks up to see her favorite person… her mate. “Hey, you, what are you doing here?” She grins widely at him.Alpha King Mars walked around her desk and kissed the top of her head. “Just wanted to let you know Benji’s arrangements are complete, and your dickhead of a brother said he will receive them from the airport before sending them to the Northeastern territory.” His lip curled as he spoke. He plopped down on the couch in front of her desk, beckoning her to sit on his lap for a cuddle.Ciara rolled her eyes but couldn’t help but let out a small giggle at her husband. For years, her brother, Alpha King Brandt of the North and her husband, Alpha King Mars of the States, have been completing with each other as who was better at being king. It was a harmless rivalry between the males tha
Benji’s POV“Come on, Bennet! The others are already at the palace packhouse, waiting for us. What is taking so long?” I yelled through the front door of the No 9 apartment. A light drizzle of spring rain greeted us before the sun was up. I pulled up to Bennet’s place at 5:30pm to pick him up for our trip to the North. As usual he was running late. After I made the decision to go to the North, I met with my team and discussed who would be going and who would stay for the trials. Since I had several nurses and medical technicians with families and children, I wanted my staff to decide if they wanted to go or not. Once the team was set in place, we worked out travel arrangements. We also decided to fly public transportation instead of the Blue Eclipse private plane. Bennet grumbled something about leg room and luxury, but I ignored him. Nothing wrong with business class; humans did it all the time.I looked down at my phone and reviewed the list of team members going one more time. Each
Conrad’s POVThis isn’t how I planned on spending my night after my meeting with Doc and Sean. My mind was already on overload with having conflicting feelings towards Hazel and also learning that this “Sherlock of Medicine” has decided to help us. I don’t know why I was so intrigued by this doctor even my wolf perked up a bit when he was mentioned earlier. To think, he didn’t want compensation for his services… What was he? A Saint? Or could it be all a show?I had just gone back to my room to go to bed and barely closed my eyes when Sean stormed through the door, not even bothering to knock.“Conrad! Another warrior is going ape shit! He attacked his mate then ran into the woods on the west side of the packgrounds, we gotta find him before he attacks anyone else!”“Fuck!” Not bothering to change since I was only in my boxers, I ran out of my suite and down the stairs with Sean close behind. A small group of warriors waited outside for us, and I was glad for the backup because who kn
Benji’s POVI stood in front of the full-length mirror, wearing the deep purple velvet floor length gown with fitted sleeves that my mother and I purchased. It fits my small frame in all the right places. The low V of the neckline accentuated my small perky breasts. I am not a curvy woman, but this dress made me look slender and fit, even my ass looked good. Hands slide up my bare back with the feel of the zipper being tugged together from the dress. The tingles shoot up my spine making my body involuntary shiver with arousal.“You look stunning.” His arms wrap around my waist, and he rested his head on my shoulder as we looked at ourselves in the mirror. Being in Gregory’s arms was heaven for me. I memorize his handsome self. He is wearing what has been dubbed the “Penguin suit” by Alpha Mars: a three-piece black and white tuxedo. “Dance with me.” He kisses my earlobe.I giggled as he grabs my fingers and spins me around to face him. Swaying back and forth to the imaginary music, th
Benji’s POVMy legs felt a little wabbly walking down the terminal as I exited the plane. It had been a long flight, and I was needing to get my bearings from finally being on solid ground again. The time difference wasn’t helping either. Every part of me ached from sitting for so long and I knew the only thing that could cure this was a good strong cup of coffee. My team and I gathered together and started walking to the luggage pickup area, each grumbling softly to our own selves. We were all equally tired and needed a good rest.We had arrived in the North in the beginning of morning, and outside the airport vast windows the sun slowly rose, uncovering the darkness blanketed everything it had once touched. There was something old world about the North; an untouched space in a historical timeline from modern development greeted us.“I am freezing already, and we haven’t even made it outside yet! Bee! I need a wolfy cuddle!” Bennet pushed down the long sleeves of his sweater over his
Benji’s POVWe drove away from the airport in the two black SUVs to our destination in the Northeastern Territory. It didn’t take long to feel like we had stepped out of reality and into the fantastic pages of a fantasy novel. Large multi-colored trees towered over the winding roads like guarded sentinels to the beauty of the looming mountains in the distance. The giants of rock and earth with their jagged peaks rose into the mystic clouds to see the heaven like stairway to the gods.I couldn’t catch my breath from the multitude of hues before me. Everywhere I looked it was something new to see. A paint and canvas of field of wildflowers, rows and rows of farmlands, groups of cabins all scattered around the vast lands. Was the North frozen in time by some magical spell preserving its beauty?“Twenty more minutes and we will be at the capital packhouse…” Our driver said breaking the silence of the vehicle. But I couldn’t comprehend anything but what my eyes were seeing. Massive fields
Conrad’s POV“Alpha Conrad, we don’t expect anything but food and shelter. We are here to do a job at YOUR request, not be wined and dined. Now we will be leaving here in just a few minutes and should be at your pack in about….” There was a short pause, “in about two hours. Is that satisfactory to you?”Who the hell did this Sherlock person think he was talking too like that? I am the Alpha! Yeah, I insinuated that he was expecting some glamorous welcome. Dr. Mason was an arrogant ass, he better be worth all of this fuss. We know nothing about this doctor. He could be a fake for all I know. This was the first time we have spoken since Doc said they were on their way from the states to the North. Ok. Yes, I dropped the ball on my duties to reach out, but I have been a little busy, so I left that task up to Doc.I was stunned by his snarky attitude, but if I retaliated there was a chance he would turn around and leave. Doc would kill me if that happened. I would have to grin and bare it
Conrad’s POVI enter the pack house through the Omega staff entrance on the far side of the building. I didn’t want to come in through the front doors. I wanted them to think I was waiting for them, not off doing my duties. I cross through the long hallway to find my Delta Canice standing impatiently pacing. He must have known I’d come this way. When he sees me, he lets out a sigh of relief.“Hey, they here?” I say as I rush by him. Our boots’ footsteps echoing on the wooden floors as we sprint to the front of the packhouse. I hate being late. There’s a rule I always like to follow: if I am on time, I am late, if I am early, I am on time and if I am late, why did I even bother showing up?He nods as he follows close behind me. “Yeah, they are in the living room waiting to meet us. Shamus is already there with Sean.”My wolf, Titus, starts to pace back and forth in my mind. Lately he has been agitated, but never explains why. He is growling and snarling close to the forefront. ‘What i
Conrad's POV Bennet and I walked out of the restaurant in comfortable silence into the chilly night air, then turned in the direction of the hospital. It was about a twenty-minute walk from where we were, so walking wasn’t too bad. It was a bit cold and I noticed that Bennet was shivering slightly even though he was wearing a sweater over his hospital scrubs. The nights in the North were always cold due to the mountain breezes, even during the summer, so I did the chivalry thing and draped my jacket over his shoulders. As a werewolf, our bodies naturally run at a hotter temperature then humans.“Thank you.” He says and pulls it close to his chin. It is the first time he has actually spoken to me without an attitude. I nod with a smile and continue walking.“Alpha…” A woman greets me with a nod then a few more greet me the same way.I return the greeting to several of our pack members who are also out on an evening stroll, but Bennet just quietly walks next to me. He seems to be lost i
Benji’s POVI lifted my arms above my head and stretched out the muscles in my back after being hunched over a microscope and medical reports the last few hours. I squint my eyes to the bright overhead florescent lights of the Lab. Removing my glasses, I decide to close my eyes for a moment to give them a short rest. Visiting patients, taking blood samples, reaching charts – I am exhausted, but nowhere near solving what this disease is.I put my glasses back on and decide to get back to work. My phone pinged with a message. I pulled my phone from my lab coat pocket then smiled. Bennet said he was just about to meet the Alpha. I tried to feel happy for my cousin. Maybe the Alpha was his mate. It isn’t unusual for a human to be mated to a werewolf, but the idea of going back to the states without my cousin felt wrong. I quickly pushed the thoughts away. It was just dinner according to Bennet, so I won’t over think things.“I am telling you! It’s some sort of Zombie disease!” Gray argues
Conrad’s POVI paced back and forth of my suite, periodically checking the clock on the wall. Five more minutes til I have to meet the doctor for our da… I stopped myself. Nope! Dinner, not date. I ran my hand over my face in frustration. My mind still completely confused. He smelled like my mate, but when I looked into his eyes, I didn’t see mate, but he’s human, so who knows what that means! Ugh! My mind sounded like a broken record. Over and over, the same tune… Uncertainty about whether he was my mate or not.I checked the wall clock again, time to go. With a deep breath, I steel myself for tonight. It was just dinner… Not a date. I walked down the stairs to the ground floor, keeping my eyes peeled for Hazel. I made up some farfetched excuse as to why I couldn’t have dinner with her like she wanted. She seemed to believe me, so I wasn’t going to say much more.Leaning against the railing of the stairs, Bennet stood scrolling through his phone. He was still wearing hospital scrubs.
Conrad’s POVMy morning has been complete shit since the moment I woke up. First, I didn’t sleep well because of my avoidance behavior situation with Hazel. I knew she was going to try and come to my room last night for sex, and since I THINK I potentially met my mate... Very Male... mate. I didn’t want to do something stupid like sleep with her. Do humans feel the pain of betrayal? I didn’t want to find out and every time she is near me with her floral fragrance, I lose all control of my senses and my dick has a mind of its own. So, I did the only thing a strong Alpha like me could do at that moment. HIDE. I hid in my kids’ room. Hazel wont come near my kids. When I woke up stiff and irritable from sleeping on their floor, I realized I was running late and wasn’t able to meet Dr. Bennet and his team before they went to the hospital like I was hoping too. I wanted my wolf to get another good sniff of him, maybe he got the whole mate thing wrong?‘I smell mate.’ Is all Titus keeps tell
Bennett’s POV“Well, well, well, Isn’t it the human who always came in second place…” Hazel smiles a toothy grin as she gives me a sneering look as if I am something disgusting that needs to be taken out with the trash. Her blonde hair swinging with the sway of her hips. Her tight skinned dress is tackier than my grandmother’s couch. ‘Probably made out of the same material.’ I think to myself. What in the hell is she doing in the North anyway? Wasn’t she supposed to be back in the Crystal Lake Pack with her parents, demoted to Omegas? After what happened with the Alpha King of the States, I thought she was band from traveling. Does Ciara and Alpha Mars know she is here? Shit. I should call them. I move to stand closer to the woman’s bathroom; hoping Hazel’s destination isn’t the same. “Well, isn’t it the skank who’s been around more times than a Merry Go Around at the state fair.” I smile back as I cross my arms. Hazel and I have been enemies since middle school… debate enemies. We
Bennet’s POVI wake up to the sound of knocking on my bedroom door. The sun is not fully up above the mountain view, I look at the time and groan in irritation. I have only slept about three hours and this sexy gay man needs at least 9 hours to function without pulling out my bitch card and slapping someone with it.Another knock… Dammit I hope it is not the Alpha again. He has been giving me a look I can only describe as confusion and uncertainty. While Benji was off doing her superhero Sherlock thing at the hospital last night, the rest of the team and I went to have dinner with the Alpha and his squad with a few of their warriors who were assigned to us. He requested I sit next to him at the long Alpha table. He periodically would glance up at me from his dinner plate which sent a shiver up my spine. Not the kind that make your dick get up and sing the praises to the Cum Gods, but the one that makes you wish you had bought stock in pepper spray. Don’t get me wrong, he is drop dead
Benji’s POVThe nurse leads Artemis and I to a door marked with “Chief of the Hospital” in big black letters on the frosted glass. She knocks and a low voice answers. We walk in and see a man with dark rimmed glasses sitting behind a single desk. He’s a typical werewolf male, tall, well-built, and handsome. He has short reddish blonde hair which styled to one side and deep blue eyes. He looks up from his desk and eyes us curiously like he wasn’t expecting to see us.“Dr. Lancon…” The nurse bows and exits the room. I look around at the walls of the office and see several diplomas and certificates neatly framed along the walls.Artemis moves forward and decided to start the conversation. “Good afternoon, Dr. Lancon. I am Artemis, Head warrior from the Blue Eclipse Pack.” She reaches out her hand and the doctor shakes it. “This is Dr. Benji Mason. You requested her assistance with the recent epidemic.”Artemis steps out of the way so I can offer my hand, but the doctor doesn’t move to ta
