Chapter 9: Light and colors

My mind became preoccupied after seeing my sister in my dream. I don’t even consider that as a dream but a nightmare. The only problem is that I become more terrified if my sister is still alive. Seeing how she said those words by looking at her lying on the ground with a big wound on her chest makes me want to cry and double my time to locate where she is.

It hurts me seeing my sister in my dream, apologizing for being weak even though it’s her fault. She’s innocent, but why is she saying those words even if all the blame is on the vampire who abducted her? I can’t understand. If I keep processing everything, I may lose my mind. Especially now that our company is facing a crisis where someone stole a huge amount of money from our budget and I’m doing my best to find the culprit in this matter.

With the help of my butler to solve this, I know I’ll be able to locate that creature and imprison him until he begs for his freedom. They can just simply ask for money because I’m willing to give what they want, but stealing money for my company isn’t acceptable. Is it hard to ask for money and lower your ego?

“Did you find that lowly creature?” I inquired with my butler when he entered my office. He had access here in my office, in my company to be exact, so there’s no need for an appointment since he is my butler after all.

Upon closing the main door of my office, I immediately pressed the button for privacy. They designed it in my office since I’ll be discussing personal topics with someone if they ever want to have privacy. I thought this was no use, not until this case happened.

I also contacted my investigator regarding the evidence of how my sister got abducted from our house, but he said that he didn’t even find anything suspicious, so I gave him time for that. So I had no choice but to wait again while trying to find another clue. It seems like everything has been planned, making it challenging for my sister to find clues. They had erased all traces except for the footage so we don’t have enough evidence to accuse that fcking vampire.

If only I could erase her here in our world, I would do it even if it costs my life, but since I don’t have the enormous power to do that, I can’t proceed and keep on tracing everything. I’m actually on the verge of giving up, but since my sister needs me and she deserves justice, I need to be strong or else my conscience will not let me be at peace.

“I have a lead, Your Highness.” He placed the white folder on my desk and, out of curiosity, I reached for it and scanned the details. “Those two creatures are somewhat suspicious. After the incident, they disappeared. None of our employees knows where they both go, so I suspect that they are both allies. Although we don’t have firm evidence that they are the culprits based on their personal information, something’s wrong.”

He’s right. Their personal information seemed suspicious. There are no parents, siblings, relatives, or work experience aside from their work being an office staff, but how come they have access to the budget of the company in every project that we’re doing?

“Higher position. There’s a traitor in a higher position. Office staff can’t access the budget if they don’t have allies,” I said. “Finance Department and Department Managers. Make sure to investigate all of them. These two creatures aren’t the only culprits here, but I think almost half of them are. Make sure to put them in jail, but if it’s possible to execute them, do it. Just be observant. No one should know about executing them, so don’t leave traces.”

“Yes, Your Highness, Celeste,” he answered and lowered his head like he used to.

There’s a possibility that half of my employees aren’t werewolves like us. I’m not sure, but I know there’s something wrong. As much as possible, I need to wipe them out before making a move. This is getting serious now, and I can’t let some lowly creature execute us one by one.

It’s just weird that they have a face on creating conflict, even if we didn’t do anything. I don’t even know if the mastermind behind these problems in my company is my rival, or if it also connected them to the wizards or vampires. I’m not going to miss this chance to locate all of them, but while doing that, I need to play with their dirty tactics. Playing dumb isn’t in my vocabulary, but if this act is an effective way to make them fool by discovering them, then I better stick with it.

“You can now go and do your thing. Thank you for this,” I commanded.

Now that everything is getting serious, I need to trigger them more, but how?

“What’s with your face? You look tired, but you’re still beautiful,” Lyall said, which made my face turn into a tomato.

“Oh geez! Stop complimenting me! I’m not used to it!” I said, but he just let out a soft chuckle as if he was enjoying it, making me blush with his compliments and sweetness.

“Why would I? I told you to be ready for my surprises but it seems like you are not ready for the sudden compliment?” he teased, but I just rolled my eyes with him and laughed at my reaction. “I love you.”

My eyes widened upon hearing what he just said. This is the first time that he said those words even though we have already known each other for weeks and discovered that we’re fated with each other, but why is my heart being like this? I already knew that falling in love with your mate is normal since it’s your other half, but being vocal to your partner is a different kind of level.

It shocked me when he admitted his feelings for me, as I wasn’t expecting it. I don’t know what to say. I was even stunned, looking at him while trying to process everything. The butterflies in my stomach started to beg for their freedom.

“I love you is common,” he chuckled and shook his head while looking at me with his serious eyes. “Thank you for appearing on my darkest night when I need something to lean on. You gave the light and colors in my world that I don’t even know how to reciprocate everything you had done, and I know you are not aware of all of those. Everything seemed magical, and I didn’t believe that before, but when you appear, everything changes. Now that I have a reason to continue this life, I’m not going to miss a chance to make every day meaningful with you.”

I blinked my eyes many times, trying to process everything, but I couldn’t find words to say. My mind became clouded and my eyes were just looking at how handsome and hot he was until he chuckled again and said, “You don’t have to say anything. I just wanted to say out loud how much I love you. No need to pressure yourself, Louve.”
