I watched as Dean's expression shifted rapidly, his lips pressed together in silence.

After a long pause, I managed to force myself to stand, feeling the weight of his earlier victorious stance evaporate.

Suddenly, exhaustion crashed over me, and I realized I didn't want anything more to do with this man.

In a quiet voice, I said, "Dean, it's time to finalize the divorce."

His eyes widened in shock before he quickly masked his surprise.

As he glared at my retreating figure, his voice trembled with anger. "Veronica, what kind of person are you? Everyone can see it now!"

I didn't reply. Sitting in the car, I recalled how five years ago, I had coerced him into marrying me, a fact that weighed heavily on my conscience.

But I had explained myself back then. After his company went public, I had brought up divorce several times, yet each time he had responded with venomous words.

"Veronica, so you're done using me, huh? You still owe me; you can't just walk away."
