The wind blew rustling leaves as Natalie Kane sat on the very peak of a hill, staring at the beautiful view. She loved coming to the hill because it reminded her of the beauty of nature and the essence of life. The hill was known as The Wall by the rest of the pack because it separated the Deadbolt pack from other packs, but she named the hill, Life because of the feeling it gave her. She always felt more alive whenever she was up there, all her nerves were more alert and she felt a supreme sense of comfort.
As she sat at the peak of the hill, she sighted Arie, her best friend, running from afar and screaming her name. Natalie sighed in annoyance, she hated it when she was interrupted by someone whenever she was on Life(the hill). As Arie grew closer, Natalie began to notice the panic in Arie's voice. She stood up in alert, picked her arrow and ran down the hill. As she ran towards Arie, she wondered on what would make Arie so scared to interrupt her meditation on the hill. Although, Arie got frightened easily, she had never interrupted Natalie's meditation before. As Arie grew a lot closer, Natalie noticed her red and puffy face and that her chubby cheeks were wet with flowing tears. Natalie hugged Arie and patted her consolingly on her back, whispering the words; "it's alright, whatever it is, you're gonna be fine. It's all okay." even without knowing what the issue was. “It's not about me, Natty.” Natalie's heart skipped for a second, then she said in a calm tone, though deep down she wasn't calm at all. “OK, what is it then?” Arie moved away from Natty's arms and looked at her in a way Natty had never seen. "It's Yvonne." Yvonne!!! What could have happened to Yvonne? She thought. "What happened?" Arie broke into uncontrollable tears and cried out in a loud voice; "She is dead, Yvonne is dead!" Natalie's head went blank immediately, it felt like the world was upside down, Arie's loud cries seemed like distant murmurs. Then a thought of relief came to her. What if it was another Yvonne, maybe it was the new cook named Yvonne. Of course, how can an Alpha of a great pack die all of a sudden. With a shaking voice, Natalie managed to ask; "Which Yvonne are you talking about?" Arie teary eyes were fixed on Natalie, and in those eyes she found the answer, even before Arie cried out her name. For a moment, the world felt empty, all she could hear was the repetition of Arie's voice, saying; Yvonne Ney is dead, Yvonne Ney is dead, Yvonne Ney is dead,…Handogan Kane, Alpha of the Deadbolt pack,
stood before his son,Oritz Kane and some of his trusted guards and advisors. He stared at the few people gathered before him and then he noticed the absence of his dearest daughter, Natalie. "Where is Natalie?" Handogan said in a thunderous voice. A few of the advisors shook fearfully and looked around like they were just noticing her absence. Finally, Oritz said in a calm but mocking tone, "She is most likely on a hill listening to the morning tweeters and staring at gardens from afar like the little princess that she is." "Has she been told about what just happened to our dearest Yvonne." Handogan said in a tough but calmer voice, trying to hide his disappointment. "Yes, Father," Oritz said happily. "I sent a few guards to alert her about two hours ago, I guess her absence means she isn't really concerned about the demise of Yvonne Ney." A few murmurs arose in the hall, as advisors and guards whispered to one another. Oritz was having a good time watching the sudden murmurs, perhaps everyone will see that the all-perfect princess wasn't so perfect after all. The murmurs ceased as Handogan cleared his throat loudly to get everyone's attention. "As the new tradition entails, we will have to travel to the Furnace pack lands for the burial. We have just a couple of hours to prepare as it will be in our favour to arrive…" At that moment, Natalie walked into the hall with Arie right behind her. "before nightfall." Natalie unaware of what had transpired few minutes ago was comported and elegant as always and it seemed like she wasn't even affected by the great loss of a woman who was the only thing close to a mother she had ever had. Natalie had never been the type to show her emotions, even though she had a hole in her heart, she still acted normal and unaffected. "See who came back from her birdwatching. Anyways, welcome back, you came just in time." Oritz said with a half smile across his mouth. Natalie knew about her brother's dislike for her so she didn't react. Handogan continued talking, "Although, this time, something weird has happened. The Skull pack has decided to come along." Natalie gasped in fear, and so did the rest. Although, the Deadbolt pack were seen as the strongest(mostly because of their number), the Skull pack were known for their wickedness and bloodthirstiness. Handogan was aware of the dangers involved but he couldn't break tradition by not going, apart from that, Yvonne Ney was almost like a sister to him, and took the role of mother for his children, he had to honour her burial. "Father, are you really sure about what you are saying." Natalie asked with fear written across her face. "My most reliable source informed me earlier today, and he said that he was hundred percent certain about it." Oritz who seemed like the most afraid person in the hall said in panic, "I don't think we should go, father. From what I have heard the Skull pack are highly dangerous." For the first time, Old Lord Renobic, Handogan's main advisor, spoke up. "If you will adhere, it will be in our best interests not to go, at least not today." "I know the risks involved, Reno." Handogan said, the folding of his forehead made it visible that he was thinking really hard on what to do. After a few minutes, he said in a firm and authoritative voice, "Ready the horses, we travel by night fall." "But, father…" "It's final, so get ready." Handogan said cutting Oritz off. He walked back into his study room and slammed the door shut. The big black horses barely made any sound, there was no conversation among the big guards who had large scary tattoos around them.
Leading the guards, were four people on black horses; Demenicus Darke, the alpha of the skull pack, Simion and Euvene Darke, the alpha first twin sons, and lastly Reven. F. Darke, the bastard last son of the alpha, who was known by other packs as the Deathkeeper, because of his brutality and savagery. Reven. F. Darke was the youngest son of his father Demenicus Darke, and was also the son who made Demenicus proud. Unlike his brothers, Reven was a mouth dropping handsome man with bright ocean blue eyes, sturdy and built-up body which looked as firm as a rock, awesome black hair which often glimmer under sunlight, great jawline and, full and fluffy pink lips to complement every other body characteristics. Finally, the hoof-hoof -hoof sound which was the only sound the black horses made stopped as Reven Darke raised his left arm high exposing a bit of his serpent tatoo at his back, and the others halted their horses. "We are at the city wall." Reven said to the rest. "Thank you, Reven." Demenicus said. "We all know the plan; We go in there and we cause no trouble, and bring no attention to ourselves, while Reven and I will discuss on how to obtain the desired ornament. Remember to be vigilant of any unusual activity. They all hate us, so let's give them more reasons to hate us, because we clearly don't need their love." After Demenicus speech, they all came down from their horses and walked by foot leaving their horses tied to certain trees and watched over by three guards.Natalie couldn't seem to understand Life anymore, she looked around and watched how everyone was talking and panicking about the Skull pack as they rode in the night, they were all forgetting about the main person, Yvonne, who was about to be buried six feet under the ground. Her hatred for the Skull pack knew no bounds now more than ever as she saw them as wicked and heartless beings who wanted to ruin Yvonne's burial. She also despised the so-called new tradition which says that whenever an alpha dies, other alphas must be present especially during the Coronation of a new Alpha. Natalie didn't understand why the rest were scared of the Skull pack, probably because she had never met one.Handogan and Reno talked throughout the journey, trying to reason why the Skull pack were attending the burial, but they just got more and more confused. They finally reached the Furnace pack wall and were welcomed heartily by the guards.&nbs
He was being chased by something.Something very large, very fast and very strong. His legs were tired and were beginning to shake. The creature howled loudly and it was clear that it was very close to him, closer than he had thought. It howled again and for the first time he noticed that the sound came from him.As he ran shakily, he staggered and fell down on the wet muddy ground with his face looking at the ground. He stayed like that for a while and he didn't hear the creature anymore. He raised his head up and was as still as a rock as he found himself in a blood pool surrounded by hundreds of people.Carefully, and slowly he looked down at the blood pool and with a high cry, screamed as he saw himself as theBEAST.Reven woke up screaming and shaking with fright. It was a beautiful scene indeed. The happy dancers shaking and moving in accordance with feathered and rainbow coloured costumes, shrieking in excitement. Reven felt highly entertained by the Singers and Dancers who made the burial look like a harmonious ceremony. He laughed occasionally at the dancers weird moves and at the singers flat lines, completely unaware of the turning heads and murmurs people made towards him. It took him a while to notice that he was the only person laughing and he was the only person in blue tee-shirts and a white short instead of the regular all black attire. He was the only odd person in the gathering and he didn't seem to mind. Reven was still laughing when Natalie came in with her father, her brother and the rest of her pack. Demenicus patted Reven on his lap and whispered in his ears, "Remember what I told you."&n
Heathrow barged into Delia's room. His annoyance and disappointment were obvious. He didn't want Delia to ruin all they have planned, to him they had done way to much to spoil it all now. Heathrow was taken by surprise as he found Delia on her bed screaming and crying. Her black dress laid on the ground, totally ripped apart. She was seated on her bed wailing with only her underwear. Heathrow picked up a towel and covered her with it, and gently embraced her. He could feel the warm tears fall on his shirt and he felt compassionate. He murmured a few words of encouragement but Delia took none, she kept on wailing aloud and screaming in desperation. After a while, she stopped screaming and then began to accuse Heathrow for her sorrows. "YOU LIED TO ME. I HATE YOU. I HATE YOU MORE THAN I HATE HER. YOU'RE SUCH A LIAR." "Delia, I've never lied to you and I'll neve
"Taz, what exactly did you see?" Niue Yoda, one of the twelve history keepers said. They were by the side of the great temple facing the Wolf blood river. The sounds of the clashing waves and the river birds creating a pleasant music. "What I saw wasn't really clear? But I am sure of what I heard." "And what did you hear?" "I heard Yvonne screaming, shouting in desperation. She was screaming and weeping in the most horrible way I've heard." "Did she say anything, Taz?" "Ummm…nothing much, she was just shouting the word,No,over and over again." Niue looked up and thought for several seconds. "I think it's because she was murdered. She must be seeking Justice."
He woke up with his eyes blurry, the room was upside down and his eyes ached. He attempted sitting up but he gave up on the way up. He moaned as he collapsed back on the bed. He shut his blurry eyes and took in several deep breaths. The pillows were soft and relaxing and so was the bed, and it was then he wondered where he was. He opened his eyes and looked around the room. It was a lady's room filled with decorations and pictures. The wall was a mixture of light purple with white and so were the bed dressings. By his side was a giant Pink Teddy bear with a which poster on its neck which read;Pinkie PollyThe room had a pleasant scent of Lavender mixed with Jasmine. To Reven who was used to a large but scanty bedroom, the room was magical. He stood up, ignoring the intense pain in his legs and his aching back. He managed to hop to see the numerous pictures and portraits on the wall.In th
Reven took a horse and rode as fast as he could to the conference building. His mind was racing as he remembered what he had heard the previous night. What if this is an ambush? What if it's all a setup to attack my father? Shit!He rode through the market knocking down a lot of displayed goods and he got equal amount of curses from the sellers. He didn't care much about their insults, as long as you're from the skull pack, you are sure of getting cursed and insulted from everyone. They were all hated and feared everywhere, for good enough reasons. Most skull pack members used their strength and agility to subdue others and make fun of them, but Revenue didn't pass the market to bully nor deliberately destroy their goods, he only passed there because it was the shortest route to the conference building. It took him twenty minutes to get to the conference buildi
Handogan couldn't bear any longer. For the past one hour, they had all been arguing because of who to start the meeting. He wondered how they'll react when he brings up disturbing topics. "Enough!! Can we all behave mature about this. I am well aware of our differences and our dislikes for each other but can we all put that aside and talks about the main issues. Please, we need to cooperate for anything to work out well today." "Exactly." Euvene added, as he noisily gulped the remaining wine from the bottle in his hands. Euvene was nothing but a disappointment to his parents and his twin brother, Simion. Reven had no problem with Euvene, he saw him as a funny lad who hated disturbing himself with burdens or worries, but sought the comfort of things like; Food, Vodka, Rum, Wine and Ladies, and Reven respected his personality and was proud to call him 'brother' anytime and anywhere. &
Kate was ready to make a move. She slowly and quietly stretched to reach the sharp pocket knife. As she was about to get grip on the knife, a strong leg kicked her finger and the knife away. She screamed in pain as she was certain that at least two of her fingers were broken. As she looked up in agony to see the person who inflicted her with such pain, she was somewhat disappointed. It was Reven Darke, bastard son to Demenicus Darke. Although she had known he was from the Skull pack and was even known as the most heartless, savage, and brutal Skull pack wolf, which got him the nameDeath Keeperby the rest of the packs, when she saw him earlier he didn't look like the monster or Ripper that people had called him, she saw him as a dashingly handsome guy with the best facial and body features she had ever seen, and in her mind, she had silently hoped that the rumours weren't true.
All eyes were on Heathrow. Everyone apart from Reven was curious to hear the suspect. Heathrow cleared his throat and said in a thick, clear, and firm voice. "To be sincere, I know who the killer is. I was a witness to the murder." Handogan who was now growing impatient, asked,"And who is it?" Delia in confusion, whispered to Heathrow; "what are you doing? Do you want to set someone else up? Answer me." Heathrow acted deaf and didn't respond to Delia. Handogan asked again, "We are not going to spend the whole day here, so if you truly know who it is, it's best for you to speak." "Who is it, Lad?" Reno asked growing impatient. "It is no one else but…DELIA NEY." Delia, shocked to the bones, sto
