Dawn's POV
"What...is going on?" I asked, as my eyes moved from Alpha Xavier's to Zade's to the stranger's. Zade looked a bit amused to see me there, it was as if he knew that we were still going to meet again after our last encounter. The stranger stood up and started walking towards me, with his eyes not leaving mine. I looked away from him, and stared at Alpha Xavier, waiting for some kind of answer but he just stood there and...watched. Zade did too. "Mate," the stranger said again, but this time, he was barely two feet away from me. He crouched down, and placed two fingers under my chin, raising my head to meet his gaze. "My name is Ryan. What's your name, mate?" He asked. His deep voice rang in my head, and I struggled to form a word. I gulped down, and managed to say my name. He nodded and helped me get up. I didn't know what to do. It was so funny how I went from being a very normal human to having...three mates now? Especially those who'd kill me in a heartbeat. Pushing my thoughts aside, I cleared my throat and faced Xavier. "Who's he?" I asked, referring to Ryan. Alpha Xavier finally moved from his spot and took a few steps forward before he stopped, and faced Ryan. "Why don't you answer that, Ryan?" Ryan told me that he was a best friend to Alpha Xavier and now, my new mate. I wanted to ask more questions but a deadly glare from Xavier was enough to keep me shut and rooted to my spot. "Now back to business, gentleman. What do you think of her, Don? Is she good enough for you?" Alpha Xavier said to Zade, and my stomach churned in disgust. He is really selling me off? Who does he think he is? Zade's eyes sparkled a little with excitement, as his eyes traveled around my body. He found me attractive, that I could tell. But I had no interest in being given away to the bloodsucker. He stood up and imitated Ryan's movement, as he stood in front of me, his eyes boring into mine. My breathing seized a little, as I tried to maintain the eye contact. He took another step forward, closing the space between us. My legs wobbled under me and I felt like I was going to pass out under zade's gaze. But I held myself. Or at least I thought I did, before he held my hands and pulled me closer. His presence and touch made me weak and he knew that, so he continued torturing me right before Alpha Xavier and Ryan. He raised my head up and involuntarily, I licked my lower lip and gulped. A second later, the silence in the hall got broken when Zade started laughing. I felt embarrassed and took a step further away from him. "You really thought I was going to kiss you?" He asked, but I looked away immediately. I wanted to run, run away from him, Alpha Xavier and Ryan and pretend nothing like this ever happened. I wanted to go home and sleep, hoping the bad dream would end. But this wasn't a bad dream, it was real. The torture, embarrassment, and everything, it was all real and there was nothing I could do to run away from it all. "You know what, I'd make my decision tomorrow morning. For now, let me think about it." Zade said to Alpha Xavier, and left without turning around to look at me just once. After Zade left, I lowered my gaze and stood there, waiting for my next punishment. But Xavier just clicked his fingers and the next second, two men came out of nowhere and dragged me away. This time, I didn't fight it. There was no use anyway. After I was taken to an empty room, I was forced to have a drink, and it made me pass out almost immediately. * * My eyes fluttered open, but I struggled to move any of my body parts. I laid there, on the cold, dry floor, staring at the ceiling. I didn't know that I could feel anything, until I felt my tears trailing down the sides of my face. After so much struggle, I finally pushed my upper body off the ground. "Oh, fuck," I groaned to myself, as I stretched a little. The room was dark, the window was open too but that didn't do much as the reflection from outside was also very dark, which meant that it was night already. "You're a pretty sleeper," I heard someone say and it scared the hell out of me. I scrambled off the floor, and ran to the end of the room, as my eyes darted around, wondering where the voice came from. "Who's there? Who are you?" I asked, as I pulled my legs to my chest and wrapped my hands around my body. A split second later, my nose was filled with a scent that I had gotten familiar to and I instantly knew who it was. ". W—what are you doing here?" I stuttered a little. He touched me and a chill ran down my spine. I held my breath, when I felt him move closer. "I'm here for you. I'm sure you heard Xavier, you are mine. So, I'm here to take you." That didn't make any sense. Nothing made any sense. I stretched my hand a little and searched for his face. But his hand gripped mine and slowly guided my hand to his face. Just like it looked, it felt as hard as a rock, with very sharp edges. My fingers trailed from his forehead down to his jaws. As every second passed, my body grew hotter and I started feeling funny. His presence was so overwhelming, and it had an effect on me. But I liked it. A lot. His hands grabbed my waist and he pulled me up. Even though it was dark, I could suddenly see his face clearly. "What did you say again?" I asked, obviously not thinking straight. He breathed out, and spoke again. "I'm here for you, I'm here to take what's mine." "Then, kiss me." I moved closer, with my eyes still fixed on his face. I don’t know why I asked him to do that; hell, I wasn’t even sure if this was me or if the substance I had been given earlier had anything to do with this. "Please, kiss me." I pleaded again, and he raised me up as his lips crashed against mine.Alpha Xavier's POV After pacing around for five minutes, I finally stopped to think. With my recent prisoner in a room just a few feet away from me, I just couldn't sleep, even when I wanted to. There was definitely something about her. I have tried ignoring it, but it's still there. By this time tomorrow, the Don, Zade, would have made his decision and she might finally be his. That was the plan, but did I want that? The mere presence of my prisoner annoyed me but still, I wanted it so badly. "Fuck!" I cursed, as I found myself strolling towards the door, going to meet Dawn. I twisted the knob, and opened the door but I was stopped before I could step in. "What are you doing here?" I asked Cassidy, as she stared at me wide eyed. I knew that look. When it came from her, it only meant one thing. "What do you mean, alpha Xavier? Or, do I dare say Xavier?" She asked in a soft tone, one she only used when she wanted me. I averted my gaze from her, and took a step forw
Dawn's POV As Zade’s and my lips glided against each other’s, soft moans escaped my lips. I wrapped my hands around his neck, and bent my head a little to make it deeper. I softly rubbed the back of his neck, as I continued moaning into his mouth. For a split second, I pulled out of the kiss to catch my breath, but he pulled me closer, and took my bottom lip into his. When I pulled out of the kiss, I noticed that his eyes were a very dark shade of red. It looked scary, but surprisingly, I wasn't scared at all. In fact, it looked sexy to me and at that moment, I wanted him so bad. I wanted him to use more than his lips to explore every part of my body. Heat radiated from my body, and a pool of sweat gathered on my forehead. But my forehead wasn't the only part that was wet. Without thinking, I took his hand and guided it down, in between my thighs. It was so warm and wet and the thought of his cold finger slipping in and out of me even made me wetter. He slipped my pa
Dawn's POV When I got to the door of the guest room, I stood in front of it and was about to hold the knob when it suddenly opened with Zade standing right there. "How-" I started asking but stopped when I remembered that he was a vampire lord. I nodded at him, and walked into the room. It was so bright and well arranged and the bed looked more than comfortable. "The bed looks comfy," I subconsciously said, as I ran my hands through the soft cotton sheet. "Do you want to sleep on it now, or you would have a shower before?" He asked, and sat on the edge of the bed. The question hung in the air, as I hadn't thought about it. Sleeping without having a shower was something that I had never done before, back at my house when things were still normal. But now, nothing was normal. In the last 48 hours, I had made out with a vampire lord without getting biten, and I had two other werewolves as my mates. In fact, I was probably the only human in a house filled with so many pe
Dawn's POV The next morning, I couldn't find Zade. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, before yawning and just then, the door opened revealing Xavier's sister who strolled in with an exaggerated smile plastered across her face. "You'll wear this. You would be needed downstairs in the next ten minutes. Be fast," she said, and left immediately. I cursed under my breath, and scrambled off the bed. I quickly had my bath and got dressed in the simple dress that was laid out for me. As I got to the hallway, I was surprised by the way things worked in the house — everyone seemed busy. The maids walked up and down, doing one thing or the other. I went down the stairs, and I saw Xavier pacing up and down the throne hall and as expected, he looked angry. Immediately he sighted me, he stopped and barked at me to come inside. I did as I was told and lowered my gaze and waited for him to speak again. "How come Zade didn't feed off you? I don't get it. It doesn't make any sense! This wasn't
Xavier's POV Everywhere was so silent, as everyone's eyes were glued to Dawn. They all looked surprised and...confused? That only made me angrier, as I wondered why the attention was suddenly on her. "Dawn, step back," I said softly, to avoid ruining the mood. I was trying so hard to control my anger, but she wasn't making it easy. Instead of listening to me, she started walking towards the guard that she threw against a wall. "Step back!" I barked again and this time, she listened. An exasperated sigh escaped my lips, as I tried to maintain my composure. I summoned three guards, and said to them, "Guards, take them out!" Immediately, the three of them stormed towards dawn's pathetic parents. As the guards grabbed them, they tried to fight them off, but it did little to nothing. My heart warmed as the scene played out before me. But then... Dawn turned around to face them, and her eyes widened like she just understood what was happening. "No! You can't do
Alpha Xavier's POV Ryan and I have been friends for a long time and I was seeing him this angry for the first time ever! It was a bit scary to watch. I was about to move away from him when he grabbed my collar again and was about to land another punch on my face, when I stopped him. "What the fuck is wrong with you, man?" I asked, while holding his hand. He brushed my hands away, as his gaze settled on Dawn. Watching as she started writhing in pain made me angry again and it seemed as though Ryan saw that I was about to go back to hurt her again because he suddenly threw a punch on the side of my face. That action caught me off guard as I stumbled backwards a little, landing on the sofa that was placed at the end of the room. The punch hit me so hard that my gums began to bleed. It hurt, a lot. I looked forward and saw that Ryan was no longer at the door again. He quickly rushed to Dawn, removing the cuffs that I used on her. After removing them, he whispered in her ear
Dawn's POV My body hurt so bad, and as I continued limping towards my room, it felt like every piece of me was shredding. I finally got to the room, and pushed the door open. I closed it after I entered and laid on the bed. "Fuck!" I cursed, as my swollen back came in contact with the sheet. It felt like there was a little fire outbreak on my back, that was how hot, and painful it felt. The pain was so overwhelming and it felt like I passed out for a while. I opened my eyes, groaning the next minute and I found myself sitting on the floor, with my knees pulled up to my chest. I didn't know how I got there, and I was already so tired and exhausted. I thought of what to do for a while, as I was alone and didn't know what to start with. My injuries were probably deep and I didn't know what to do about them. After thinking for a few seconds, I managed to push my body up and staggered towards my wardrobe, which was now filled with dresses that I was sure that I'd never wear.
After Xavier kissed my forehead, he turned around and left without a word. That was by far the weirdest thing that I had experienced the entire day, including kissing Ryan. I turned away from the door, and stared at the spot where Ryan was seated, I hoped he'd come back so we could continue what we were doing before Xavier barged in. But he never came back. * * For the next few days, I lived like a prisoner that I was in Xavier's house. I had thought that the little sweet gesture he displayed before he left would make things better, but it didn't. That little action confused me though, but I hoped he'd maybe explain when I finally saw him. The only good part of it was the fact that I didn't see him at all, I hadn't even caught a glimpse of him, Ryan and Zade. I had been thinking about the three of them, Zade especially. I had breakfast with the rest of the maids in the dining hall. It was little, but very healthy. After I was done, I grabbed my plate and headed to the
Xavier’s POV:Never in my life did I know that there would come a day when I would feel jealousy.Jealousy.It was a foreign word. One that I had only heard people often use but had never felt… and never thought I could, until now.My heart raced as Dawn’s soft moans filtered through the air, and it hurt. It hurt more because all I could do was listen. And I wasn’t the one making her moan so sweetly. It was Zade. I had the option to shut my door tight. I knew I could block out the sound but I didn’t want to. I couldn’t bring myself to. For some reason, I wanted to listen, I wanted to hurt myself and I wanted to know what it felt like to have to share the attention and affection of one’s mate with other people; and now that I have, I have come to decide that it is the worst feeling to ever exist. I squeezed hard on the wine glass in my hand, and when it broke, shattering into a million pieces, I didn’t care. Nothing mattered to me anymore, not even the trail of blood on my injured han
Dawn’s POV:“By the time I am done with you, you’d wish you never asked for it!” Zade snarled and with that, he pushed me off of him with a force that had me stumbling backward. Before I could ask what he meant by that, or why he had pushed me off so aggressively, he fisted one of his hands into my hair, and the other, he used to tug off my towel so forcefully that I had a friction cut from it.“Zade!” I cried, in both shock and pain and I saw his eyes flash again with an emotion, an emotion that I suspected was regret before he moved away from me to pick up my discarded towel.“I’m sorry,” he sighed as he pushed the towel into my hands and stepped away from me, whilst ignoring my eyes and me altogether.I was confused. I didn’t know exactly what he was sorry for... well, besides the fact that he had nearly ripped off a part of my skin. But still, it wasn’t his intention and I wanted it… I asked for this, and if there was anyone to be blamed, then it was supposed to be me. He tried
Dawn’s POV:As soon as my hands connected with Reagan’s face, his eyes flashed. He snarled as he threw his head back and to my horror, his fangs elongated. However, before he could sink it into my throat, I felt something like wind blow past me. It was so fast and so sudden that it had me stumbling back. What surprised me even more was the fact that by the time I regained my composure, I was standing face to face with Zade whose arms were wrapped around Reagan’s neck as he tried to subdue the obviously lesser vampire.“Zade…” I breathed out in relief. “Thank you.”For a minute, I could swear that Zade didn’t hear me. Or if he did, he pretended not to. He ignored me as he looked down at the vampire who was still clutched under his hold and snarled; “Why are you bothering the girl?”“Isn’t she just a human girl, Zade?” Reagan spat back angrily. “I was only prepping her up before I devoured her because as you may know, she’s nothing but food.”Something about his words irritated me to
Dawn’s POV:“Did you find something?” I asked Xavier for the hundredth time today and in turn, he rolled his eyes at me for the hundredth time too before picking up the piece of paper once discarded on his desk.“You know, it’s not that easy to find answers to cases like this. It could take days… weeks even. Moreover, what if you had imagined it all? What if you’d been given wine but you thought it was orange juice?” He snapped back.Something about his words made me insanely pissed but knowing that I couldn’t act on it, I rolled my eyes and snorted as I plopped into the chair beside me. My eyes were fixed on him as I hissed; “Are you saying that you think I was hallucinating?”“Oh yes, I think so!” He snapped back without even doing as much as sparing me a glance. “Because that was obviously red wine.”His words hurt. So much. But I’ll be damned if I said anything about what that young servant had said to me that day. It was our little secret, our little something and in return, I ha
Dawn’s POV:I could hear the hushed mumblings among the crowd as they turned in the direction of the noise- me, but at this point, I didn’t care. I didn’t even care that Ryan was standing beside me, grabbing onto my arm like his life depended on it and muttering something to me, something that I couldn’t quite catch at the moment. All I cared about was the shattered glass on the floor and the fact that I could swear that Cassidy had served me orange juice, but now the liquid painting the beautiful porcelain floor wasn’t orange, it was crimson. I gasped.“Is that… blood?” I asked Ryan who in turn shook his head. “That’s red wine.” He answered softly. He looked almost… stoic and his expression was unreadable. “That’s a wine but you know you can tell me anything right?” He asked and all I could do was give a simple nod of approval.“Why did you let it fall? I know it didn’t slip… you intentionally wanted it to fall.”As I watched him talk, I couldn’t help but think about a thousand thou
Dawn’s POV:I watched Cassidy as she made her way through the crowd of people ever so gracefully, like a queen. It was shocking seeing how she could manage to have her ego untainted even though Ryan had made sure to bruise it.And he did it so badly.Today, we were hosting a party. Scratch that, Alpha Xavier was hosting a party to welcome some ‘Lord’ who wanted to stay a while with us to the pack. And somehow, for some reason best known to Ryan, he had put her in charge of the servants… the waitresses and the ‘meals’ and when I say meals, I mean the humans, the humans who now served as refreshments to the bloodthirsty vampires. Cassidy, clad in nothing but the soft cotton skirt and blouse that was the signature uniform of the ‘slaves’- that was part of the embarrassment that Ryan had put her through- stopped when she saw me. There was a dark look in her eyes, one which managed to send chills down my spine because of how malicious it looked. And then she smiled.“There you are!” She e
Dawn’s POV:As the warm water from the shower faucet cascaded down my body, I stood shakily under it, sighing as most of the pent up anxiety and stress knotted around my shoulders loosened up. I felt relieved, happy even, until I remembered my last conversation with Zade and how Xavier had walked in on us, interrupting us. What was worse was the quiet stare down that had ensued before Xavier politely asked me to excuse them. And now, here I was, bathing away the knots in my hair and the dirt on my skin while I had no freaking idea about what they might be talking about at the moment, and it only made me even more nervous to think that I would be the centre of the conversation. The one whose fate was being decided. I was the topic to be discussed and yet, I wasn’t allowed to witness it.Anger surged through me at the thought, but with it came frustration and confusion. I liked Zade a lot, and presently, I may even like him a lot more than I did Xavier, but that wasn’t enough reason to
Dawn’s POV:“Well, I don’t… I don’t know.” I stuttered as I looked up at Zade’s expectant eyes. “I have never lived with vampires before and I fear that-”“You’ve never lived with werewolves before either but you did and you did just fine.”he added, interrupting me and I gulped.Fine, I knew that he made a lot of sense saying that but there was no way both species could be compared to one another. Werewolves were like humans who had the ability to shift but vampires were different. Those were another species of beings entirely. They were NOT humans in any way and while humans and werewolves could cohabit, vampires and humans could not as humans were practically their food. The fear of living in a place where everyone saw me as potential food filled me with fear and with that fear clawing at my chest, I shook my head. “Personally, I’d love to live with you as you treat me so well, but I fear that I’ll be in danger back at your house. I am human, a human with human blood and it just do
Dawn’s POV:My eyes fluttered open, then went shut. This happened continuously as I tried- no, fought to keep my eyes open, but I couldn’t. In the distance, I could hear the sounds of hushed voices, arguing… and I could smell… that was strange because I could perceive smells so strongly now, and this place smells like shit.Despite the horrid smelling atmosphere, some distinct smells still stood out. It was like the combination of pines, of woods, of the morning dew of fresh leaves, of flowers’ nectar, of champagne and aftershave, and at that, my eyes shot open and I was immediately met with three pairs of breathtakingly beautiful eyes that had my breath hitching in my chest. They belonged to Ryan, Zade… and unfortunately, Xavier.“Dawn?” It was Zade who spoke up first and before I could respond, he sprung forward to pull me into a hug. God, I was happy to see him, ecstatic even but I couldn’t bring myself to hug him back. I felt confused, drained, and most of all, I couldn’t fathom
