And so would I..

Wilder's POV

I fixed my gaze on Blue, with a lot of thoughts running through my head. I stared at her with concentrated gaze, as I watched her munch delightfully on the pears.

I asked her what she wanted, that I would give anything to her... anything she asked for— ironically, Blue only wanted me to get her some pears.

"Why pear? A fruit? How could it be the only thing you could ask for?" I asked, my voice slicing through the quiet atmosphere that was only filled with Blue's happy humming.

She shrugged, picking up another pear from the silverware. "Pear was my favorite fruit as a child, but since I was locked up... I never had the chance to have it again. Simply because it was too big of a fruit for Sarah to sneak into my cage."

"Then I shall ask the kitchen to bring you a whole sack."

Her eyes grew wider in complete astonishment, "Really?"

"What no. I was... would you really eat a sack of pear?" I asked with bewildered eyes.

She stared at me for a second long, then laughed. "Of course not."

I don't get what was so funny, but somehow I found myself joining in her laughter. I can't believe I now have someone to laugh with, for years... loneliness and my demons were my only companion.

I watched her in earnest, my laughter dying down as I got reeled in by hers. Her beautiful blue orbs shined with euphoria, captivating me at that moment— a moment I wanted to save in my newly-discovered heart forever.

After I had taken my revenge on the king and queen of the Night shade pack, I wanted nothing but to be left alone. But Blue, she makes me want more... more of her, every tiny bit of her. I yearn for her.

I don't ever want to lose her, or I might run mad.

I was still quite lost in my head, when I noticed the munching had stopped. She had caught me staring, and now she returned my gaze. And for the very first time in my existence, I felt a tiny bit of embarrassment.

"What?" She asked.

"What is what?"

"You are staring at me, you know?"

"Oh, that." I cleared my throat, maintaining my composure while feeling jittery inside. "Why? Can't I stare at my wife, my woman?"

She blushed, "your woman?" She giggled in delight.

I moved closer to her, only an inch away from her... "You've changed me, Blue. You make me want to be good, and that was never my life's goal."

She remained silent, listening with a big broad smile...

I wrapped my hand around her waist, drawing her closer as I closed up the gap between us. Her eyes gazed into my, glinting with love and desire for me. "You have corrupted me, but in a good way." I murmured, my voice hoarse.

I lowered my lips down on her, and as our bodies pressed against each other, the passion I felt for her burnt wildly inside of me. My soul, my heart, my head, my body, even my demons... they all craved her.

And as I ended the kiss, I mumbled hoarsely... "I would burn down the world for you, Blue."

"And so would I, Wilder." She replied, dipping her finger into my hair, "and you were always a better person, Wilder. Always."

At that moment, I suddenly had an idea. One that I should explore.

"Stand up, on your feet... now." I said suddenly, my words cutting through the romantic fog that had surrounded us.

"Why?" She blinked, standing up.

"Come with me." I stretched forth my hand, and she claimed my hand without a second passing. "What about what we were doing just now?"

"Trust me, you will love this." I grinned at her confidently. "But first, we need disguises."

"Ohh, disguise. Love it already."

——-

Sneaking out of the palace walls had never been my problem, all I had to do was teleport Blue and me out of my chambers and to Mesa Verde.

"We are here." I mouthed softly into her ears.

"Where is here?" She asked, looking around innocently at the cliffs that surrounded us.

"Well, this is Mesa Verde. You never heard the story about this place?"

"From the inside of my cage, I think not."

I nodded in agreement, almost beating myself up for the mistake. "The Ancestral Puebloans were said to have been the ones who built these structures over 700 years ago onto the cliffs. When I was a kid, I would come here all the time, wishing I lived here."

"The landscape does look rugged and beautiful. I will give you that. And these rooms look like what I would want to explore with you."

I caught that. One of the many traits of Blue that I love, would be her boldness. She says whatever is on her mind, without holding back.

"Wait till the sun sets over the mesa. The quiet night under the stars is a dream."

I stretched forth my hand, and she claimed it. Together we explored mesa verde, our shoulders brushing against each other as we walked.

"You were right, Wilder, I do love this." She commented, her voice soft. I smiled, happy that she loved my little surprise, "I'm glad you do."

I gazed into her eyes, my hands reaching out to caress her cheeks, but as my fingers almost made contact with her face, her stomach growled in hunger, chasing away the romance in the air.

"But I don't think your stomach appreciates the scenery." I joked.

She hit me lightly on my chest, as she laughed. "How about we get you something to eat? There's a restaurant close by."

"That we should do." She nodded in agreement.

I walked her out of Mesa Verde, and to the restaurant, holding her hand while stroking it softly occasionally.

The restaurant was as ancient as the cliffs itself, but besides the accent looks, their food has always been up the times.

We had barely walked a few steps into the restaurant, when we were suddenly stopped by a scream.

"Queen Blue!" A little boy screamed at the top of his lungs. My first instinct was to super-speed towards him and shut him up. He was going to blow our cover. But when I saw how pleased Blue was to have seen the boy, I didn't.

But what I can't understand, is why she felt pleased to see him. I thought such a delicate look was reserved for me only. Who is this boy, and why does he get to earn such a look?

He raced towards us almost immediately, while Blue opened up her arms, waiting for him. She picked him up immediately he was within reach and gave him a light kiss on the cheek.

I mean— the hug would have sufficed, no need to kiss him.

"How are you? You look chubbier than the last time I saw you." She said, caressing his hair while a large smile was plastered across her face.

"I've been eating well, Queen Bl—!"

"Shhhh." Blue quickly placed her finger on his lips to shut him up. "Just call me Blue. I don't want anyone to know I'm here. You will blow my cover if you keep calling me the queen."

"Ohh." His eyes widened. She placed the boy down, and then he dramatically bowed, while placing a hand on his chest. "I believe that you are here to eat, my lady. How about allowing me to show you the best delicacies they have, beautiful one."

Why in the world is he referring to my wife as a beautiful one? If he was just a bit taller, his head would no longer be secured to his neck.

"Ohh my, such chivalry. You are a fine gentleman, Sir Francis." Blue giggled, taking his outstretched hand, and as if I was totally invisible, the boy whose name I had just discovered to be Francis, led my Blue to the restaurant.

I am not invisible, right?

I followed them hastily, and soon caught up with them inside the restaurant. We all sat down at a free table, and Blue raised her hand up to get the waiter's attention.

I cleared my throat, and Blue turned to stare at me. "Ohh, Wilder." She let out.

'Ohh, Wilder' did she suddenly forget I existed because of Francis? Now, this boy has to be eliminated quickly. I cannot, and will not let him get all of my wife's attention.

"Who is he?" I asked, glaring at the boy, and he returned my glare.

"Lower your eyes, boy, or as the king, I will get you punished." I threatened in hushed tones.

"Why do I have to lower my eyes? You were the one glaring at me. And right now, you are not even the king." The boy rolled his eyes dramatically, while folding his hands on his chest... his eyes were even fiercer now.

"But when I get back to the palace, I will be the king... and I will—"

"Uhhh... when I get back to the palace, I will be the king and blah, blah, blah." The boy mimicked, mocking me with a baby's voice.

"YOU LITTLE—"

"Wilder, stop it. And stop being so childish and petty." Blue voiced, stopping me in my tracks, my hand halting in the air. I wanted nothing but to give the boy a smack on his head, but I had no choice but to retreat. "He started it first!"

"No he didn't, you glared at him first, and threatened him." Blue replied, shaking her head. "And to top it, he is just a boy."

Just a boy? This is not a child.

I glared at Francis one more time, then turned to Blue. "What's his identity?"

"He is the reason I discovered the ninety percent tax rule."

Ohh, he is the boy she helped in the streets of nightshade pack. Now I know why that man continuously kicked him.

"Did you just say you loved it that the big scary man beat me up?" The boy asked, placing his hand underneath his chin.

What? I didn't say that out loud.

"You didn't have to, I can read minds." The boy smiled at me sweetly.

"You can read minds!" Blue asked in shock, her eyes bulging out.

"Yes, my Lady."

"And this man over here, he said, is in support of the man kicking me mercilessly. And that he would have done the same."

What! I didn't say that, you pig!

He stuck out his tongue, staring at me with mischief.

"Wilder!" Blue yelled, hitting me lightly on the shoulder. "Apologize to him."

"I did not say that."

Blue rolled her eyes at me, then turned to the boy. "So does that mean you can read my mind too?" She asked in excitement.

"I can't, your flames they protect you."

Thank goodness, he can't.

"And that's why I like you even more." Francis voiced with happiness, showing off all his dentures.

You little—

I should definitely not complete that.

"Yes, you shouldn't." Francis said, then he smiled at me... his eyes glinting with mischief. "My Lady, can I whisper a secret to your ear only."

Blue nodded her head, and leaned over to him. He whispered some stuff to her, and in the midst of whispering, they both kept on glancing my way... while letting out ripples of giggles.

What is he telling her?

'Did you say something bad about me?' I asked him through my mind, while glaring at him, and he only shrugged in reply.

"What did he say to you?"

Blue giggled, exchanged glances with Francis and said, "It's a secret. Can't tell you."

Secret?

I hate this, and I hate Francis!

"The feeling is mutual, old man," Francis said, a wide-spread grin on his lips.

Old man!
