Chapter. 6 Family Discussion

"But ... Vin. Only I love myself. Not him," Kasih whispered sadly.

"Hey, don't be sad like that, Kasih. You're very beautiful. You can captivate him with your beauty. Plus, everyone supports you. His family does too, they're very supportive, right?"

"Yes, but still ... I'm doubtful. I don't know, Vin. And I've never even talked to him once. I've only seen him from a distance," she said, growing sadder.

Kasih became more immersed in her sadness. She didn't know what to do to chase away her troubles.

Night fell, and all the members of Pak Danu's family gathered in a room inside the small house they had occupied for a long time.

Mrs. Sani sat next to her husband, waiting for their daughter Kasih, who was still in her room.

Shortly, Kasih came out of her room and joined them on the simple sofa in the room.

Then, her father began to speak, "Tonight, I deliberately gathered all of you to discuss the proposal from the Hoewar Family to our daughter, Kasih. Beforehand, I apologize for accepting the proposal without first consulting you, Kasih," her father said, looking at his only daughter.

"Mother also apologizes for agreeing to the proposal. But in my opinion, it's time for our family to repay all the kindness of the Hoewar Family all these years," Mrs. Sani added to her daughter.

"Father is right. Especially Grandma Meri cares about you as if you were her own grandchild. Since you were a child, Grandma Meri has been funding your education, enrolling you in the same school as her own grandchildren. Until you can fulfill your dream of becoming a doctor. All of this is because of Grandma Meri's kindness," her father explained the kindness of their employer's family to them.

Kasih continued to hang her head and listen to all the words of her parents, all of which were true.

However, her heart was still troubled because the proposal had come out of nowhere.

"Everyone knows how Grandma Meri is right now. As a doctor, you know her condition better, right? So, there's no harm. If we fulfill Grandma Meri's wish while she's still healthy and strong," her father said again.

The husband and wife then looked at their daughter who had been silent. They looked at each other, trying to figure out what was going on with Kasih.

Then her mother tried to speak,

"Kasih, why have you been so quiet? Is there something bothering you?" Bu Sani asked her only daughter.

"Lift your head. Say what's on your mind?" This time, her father spoke to his daughter.

Kasih raised her head. Her eyes, reddened from crying, were clearly visible to her parents.

"Kasih, why are you crying?" her mother said and quickly approached her daughter, trying to comfort her.

"Say what's in your heart, dear. Your father and I want to hear it. But I hope you also consider Grandma Meri's health," Mrs. Sani reminded her daughter to prioritize the health of their elderly employer.

After a long silence, Kasih finally spoke, "Dad, Mom, I don't have any objections to this arranged marriage. It's just that I and Mr. Faith haven't met. Even though we've never spoken. That's what's bothering me."

"You don't need to worry like that. With time, communication between you will develop. I'm very grateful that you've accepted this arranged marriage," her father said.

"What Dad says is true, Kasih. It's impossible for Mr. Faith not to know you. After all, we've been neighbors for a long time. He must know that you're Kasih, the housemaid working at his home. Don't worry too much. Grandma Meri, Mr. and Mrs. Hoewar, they all fully support you and this arranged marriage."

Apparently, her parents were unaware of Kasih's true inner turmoil. She just smiled and nodded her head, indicating that she would follow their wishes.

Morning arrived, and there was something different this time. Kasih, who usually went to work at the hospital on her automatic scooter, was now being driven by the Hoewar Family's private driver.

"But ... ma'am, I'm used to riding my motorbike to the hospital," she said to her future mother-in-law.

Hearing Kasih's words, Mrs. Rara became displeased. She immediately gave Kasih a stern look, indicating her disapproval, especially since Kasih still referred to her as 'ma'am.'

Kasih, realizing that her future mother-in-law didn't like her choice of words, quickly said, "I'm sorry, Mom. Alright, I'll take the car to the hospital."

After hearing Kasih's response, Mrs. Rara's face lit up. "That's better. You follow Mom's rules."

"Yes, Mom," Kasih replied, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

"Oh, by the way, Lovlyta's flight will arrive in Jakarta this afternoon. Maybe she will come directly to the hospital."

"Oh, really, Mom?" Kasih was very excited to hear this.

She and Lovlyta had been close friends for a long time, even when they were in school. Kasih had often given impromptu private lessons to Lovlyta, the daughter of her employers. However, Lovlyta had no idea about Kasih's feelings for Faith, which Kasih had kept hidden for years.

Kasih intentionally kept her feelings about Faith a secret from Lovlyta. Kasih only knew about Faith from Lovlyta's stories, where she often complained about her mischievous brother.

But now, Kasih was suddenly being arranged to marry Faith. She wondered about Lovlyta's reaction when she found out about the arrangement with her brother.

After traveling for a while, Kasih finally arrived at the hospital.

"Look who's on her way to becoming the boss's wife! You're not riding a motorbike anymore, are you?" Vini teased Kasih as she got out of the car.

"Oh my goodness, Vini! You startled me!" Kasih said, clutching her chest.

"Ha-ha-ha. Sorry, sorry. You were just lost in thought. It's still early in the morning!" Vini teased her again.

Not long after, Dr. Robin, a colleague of Kasih, joined them.

"Hello, good morning, lovely ladies!" Robin greeted both of them. But his eyes were fixed on Kasih.

Robin had secretly liked Kasih for a long time. His love for the girl was immense, and he planned to confess his feelings to her soon.
