Before we lowered the rope I sent a flame ball down to see what we could see. Tony looked out the entrance to make sure no one was coming and we lowered the rope down until the only rope visible was leading to the anchor. I tugged on it with all the strength I had to make sure once again that it was sturdy enough for us to climb down. “Alright all set!” I called over to Tony and then looked again down the hole. “We better hurry so we don’t attract any attention to this area” Sylvia nodded and we both looked over in Tony’s direction. “Who’s going first?” Tony asked enthusiastically. Sylvia and I looked over at each other and shrugged our shoulders. I turned my attention back over to Tony and, with my left hand; I pointed to him and smiled sweetly. He smiled back at me, “you two are chickens, you know that?” his walk then turned into a jog. We both knew that he wanted to be the first and we also knew that he was right; we were too scared to be the first ones to be down in the darkness
Sylvia and I both looked at each other exhausted and then we both simultaneously collapsed. We sat there for about a half an hour waiting for Tony to get up, but he didn’t. I stood up and began to walk over to him. Scared for the worst, I touched his arm and began to rock him back and forth. It wasn’t very long after that, that he woke up. “OWWWWWWW” he screamed. “Why do you have to be so rough?” still not moving from his position. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.” I answered back to him while looking him over and checking for any life threatening injuries. “I’m playing dead,” he said smirking at me. “I figured if I keep it up the changelings would leave me alone and I can heal.” He closed his eyes again motioning his expertise in the field. “Oh, so you left Sylvia and me to fend for ourselves, eh?” I jabbed him in the arm knowing it would hurt him. He yelled out in pain. “Like I would be of any help to you anyway,” he said grabbing his arm. “I can barely walk; I broke m
We tip-toed through the entrance into a large hallway of the cave, looking around to make sure there were no changelings in the area before moving on. Keeping as quiet as we could, we only spoke through hand gestures just in case any of the creatures were near. The “hall way” of the cave was slightly narrow to the point where I wondered how we were going to hide if any changelings did come our way. My heart pounded every step of the way as we got deeper and deeper into the crevice. Finally coming up to another clearing, I felt a huge weight lifted off my chest as we began to examine the room. Once it was all clear, we trudged on looking behind us and above us as we silently but swiftly moved through the large clearing into another hallway. This hallway was bigger than the last and had some large formations of rock to hide behind at least. The smell that filled my nostrils from last night quickly invaded them again; we were getting closer to where I had been. There was not one part o
They were kicked and beaten brutally before being ganged up on by more of them. Soon they were encircled by changelings each taking turns to lash out at the wolves. I quickly ran to their aid as more and more changelings entered the scene. I jumped on ones back and began punching, biting and scratching it desperately trying to pry it away from my friends. The changeling threw me off its back into the wall where I once had been. Before I knew it changelings were beating on me as hard as they could. Each one of them scratched, kicked and whipped my body. I looked over to Tony and Sylvia and noticed they were pretty badly beaten. They gave up on fighting back at this point. We were losing and badly. Their bodies were covered in their own blood as they cried out from every thrash on them. I tried my best not to give them the satisfaction of any kind of noise. It didn’t work so well because every time they kicked me, I couldn’t help but grunt. The pain was so unbearable, my body ached, I
I started looking around the room; it looked similar to where David was being tortured. The walls were covered in lime stone and there was a small, black coal grill in the middle of the floor that was lit. The flames danced off the grill almost as if they were able to just get up and walk out on their own. Along the wall, there were more restraints. From silver chains, to barbed wire all along the wall as if Dimietry had made his own torture chamber. Over in the corner there was a bed with large spikes coming out of it, then off on the other side was a bear trap. Closer to me there was a table covered with all kinds of weapons. Rusty old swords and knives rested on the table next to a club and a hammer. A scalpel lay next to a pair of hair cutting scissors and a bayonet. My heart started pounding again as I heard noises of someone talking to someone else coming from outside the room. I couldn’t understand what they were saying but I had a feeling it wasn’t good for the three of us in
Dimietry grabbed Tony’s head again and lifted him up to a standing position. He glanced over to me and smiled before ripping off one of Tony’s legs. I screamed out at him trying to break free and fight him. Every piece of wire I snapped was replaced by a new one by the changelings watching me. “You see what happens when we make bad decisions, Sophie?” he said before snapping off another leg. Tony cried out in pain. “Noooo! Leave him alone!” I screamed tears running down my face as I tried un-relentlessly to get out of my restraints not even realizing that they were cutting into my flesh once again. “I keep telling you, Sophie,” he continued. “You could have prevented this. All you had to do, was join me the first time I asked.” He paused for a moment and ripped off Tony’s tail. I screamed again unable to control the tears running down my face. Dimietry looked over at me and winced. He saw the pain it was causing me and smiled before continuing on. “Oh, come on Sophie! If you cared f
I fell to my knees in defeat and just stared over at the wall where Sylvia and Tony were chained. Tears began to well up in my eyes and I tried to hold them back. My breathing slowed down with my heart beat to the point where they could have stopped so easily. I couldn’t believe it; he just ended their lives like that. They couldn’t even fight back! How was that fair? Chain someone up and then torture them like that for no reason other than they were helping me? I looked over to Dimietry cross, how could he do this? Why would he kill people to make me help him? Seriously, what makes someone like him think that I would just willingly join forces with him after he killed my friends? All of these questions raced through my mind as I grew angry. I felt the anger rise in me with every breath I took. My body seemed to heat up as blood rushed through my veins. My heart started pounding again as the adrenaline kicked in. Suddenly, I found myself looking at my restraints. I clenched my fist,
I lied there, coughing for a few moments as he waited out in pain. I didn’t know these things were anatomically correct or I would have thought of that earlier! I thought to myself grinning. He slowly got up off the ground and stood up. He stared me down for a minute as I contemplated my next move. He leapt at me and I jumped out of the way again. He gave me a look and then transformed back to the Russian. “This is getting a little bit tedious, darling, how about we skip the fighting part and you either just join me or let me kill you.” He said arrogantly as he walked towards me holding out his hand. “Now why would I join your band of idiots to fight in a war that has nothing to do with me or the good of humanity for that matter? Then again you all are demons, and really this seems more and more like a fight to see who’s got the bigger package, and trust me I’ve already seen these kind of fights. They don’t end well for the one who forces.” He gave me one of those looks where you kno
Darius woke up the next morning dreading getting out of bed. He rubbed his tired, almond eyes and rolled over to hit the snooze button. As he turned back over he was startled by a loud banging on the door. It was time…He jumped out of bed as fast as he could and threw on the clothes from the floor. The banging continued for the next five minutes until he got to the door, he thought as though it would never stop.‘Maybe he gave up and left?’ He thought to himself as he glanced through the peep hole. A tall man stood waiting. His crisp blond hair gave away quickly that it was Haans who was waiting. ‘He must have sensed me.’ He said to himself as he watched Haans impatiently sway side to side.“I know you’re there Darius. Quit stalling.” He said calmly.Darius opened the door hesitantly and let him in.Haans feverishly paced the floor in front of Darius in what seemed like an eternity as he described the conditions before signing the contract. He had only agreed to take on the assignme
Months have gone by without a hitch. After sending Liam to live with my father while I sort through this mess I’ve been bouncing from city to city in search for clues. Afraid to get to close to anyone I’ve kept a low profile. There hasn’t been any activity from the supernatural throughout the entire northeastern coastline, so I set my sights to the south where an unexplained string of phenomena have been recently occurring. It’s too much of a coincidence for two or three tragedies to strike off the coast of North Myrtle Beach. However, eight tragedies in total have cursed a 200 mile radius of the city. From unexpected fires to pile ups on I95. Normal people would see this as a string of unfortunate luck for the area but I feel this has a more sinister cause…The crisp wind blew through the palm trees with the faint smell of the ocean sifting through the window.Darius had just sat down for his morning cup of coffee as he fumbled through his paperwork for the day. His brows furrowed as
Pulling back the sleeping bag the mysterious occupant began to cough violently and thrash about. In an instant David leapt from the cloth as though it had been on fire. His torn clothes revealed the scars from his torturous ordeal so I quickly jumped to my feet and rushed him into the house.Though I had only been gone for a few days, the house felt as if it were abandoned for years. The musty scent of Liam’s last dinner had wafted through the kitchen reminding me of his holiday with friends. A soft light was all that shown through the blinds which gave way to the thin lair of dust on the television. Walking through the house for the first time since the ordeal felt like our bodies were stuck in slow motion. After I checked all the rooms and got a drink from the refrigerator, we retired to the couch.Once our bodies hit, dust flew into the air bringing us back to the reality at hand. This made the silence more deafening.David and I haven’t spoken a word since walking through the doo
I reminisced about the time I spent with David, Sylvia and Tony. We bonded so much in so little time it felt like they’ve been a part of my life for years. And to just lose them in a few short days was heart wrenching. I couldn’t bear the thought of them being gone. My eyes welled up with tears again and I didn’t care to hold them back. I sat on the ground and pulled my knees up to my chest. I started crying, it seemed like the only thing I could do at this point. I had to hide my secrets from everyone else. At least it was nice to be able to share things with someone. And now that someone was gone. I buried my head between my knees as I cried harder. My tears dripped down my nose, soaking me in the process. After a few hours, the fire died down low enough to walk through. My face hurt from all the crying I had done and my vision was a little blurred but I continued to try and find my way out of the cave anyway. It took me a very long time, and I got lost on several occasions along
I broke my legs free and hopped up to my feet on the table. Looking around me I was completely out numbered. Dimietry came up from behind me and tried to restrain me but I fought him off and threw him off my back onto the cavern floor. Jumping on top of him, I grabbed another finger nail and ripped it off, forcing him to scream out in pain. The other changelings moved to help their leader but he motioned for them to stay where they were. Dimietry grabbed my leg and pulled me off balance sending me crashing down next to him. He climbed on top of me and tried to pin me down but I was too swift for him and escaped out from between his legs. By the time he turned around I was in the standing position and ready to fight. He turned himself into a tiger before leaping towards me again. Suddenly I felt a strong surge of power rising inside of me and before I knew it the leaping tiger was caged up in front of me. The tiger growled before turning into a snake and escaping the cage. Next thing
