Chapter 6 The Money

I looked at him, a little surprised. After a beat, I chuckled. "You had three days, and that's the answer you came up with? Is that supposed to be a joke?"

Samuel didn't answer me. Instead, he took out a beautifully wrapped gift box. "Here's a belated Valentine's Day gift. I'm sorry, I cannot lose you."

"This relationship is beyond any salvaging." I stepped away from him. "If you still care about me, then you'll sign the papers and go through with the process. I don't know what I might do if you don't. And don't buy that for me. It's so tasteless."

I knew it was another ring. He would always get me a ring whenever a celebration came around the corner. It was so uncreative.

Samuel held my arm. "What do you want, Noelle? I've already put my dignity aside, and you still won't forgive me?"

I laughed. "Is that all it takes for you to give up? I heard the call, you know. On Valentine's Day. I went to the club that night, too. Guess what I saw?"

He panicked and quickly backtracked, "I…"
