LUPE'S POV
"Who else do you think is born under the purple moon?" I suddenly heard dad ask. “The sooner we hand her over, the less problem we are going to face. He is offering a lot. It seems like he is desperate. It scares me.” He yelled.
"Liar! You are being tempted by what he is offering. I don't care what this has on your reputation! But this is my daughter's life and future we're talking about here. My daughter is going nowhere and that’s final!" My mother growled.
My ears perked up at her words. They were surely saying something concerning me. Although I have a step sister too, we do not share the same blood from either maternal side. Her mother was the alpha's mate whom I was told cheated on him with her former lover after giving birth to Kiera, my step sister. But the way she said it, it has to be me.
They were glaring daggers at each other as I entered the living room. The moment I cleared my throat, they broke it off.
"Who is not going anywhere?" I gave them both an unnerving glance.
The bright fake smile on my mother's face melted into a sympathetic look.
"No one is going anywhere, Lupe. I was only discussing with your father about… a pack warrior. Yes! A pack warrior." She answered almost immediately.
If there was one thing she sucked at, it would be lying. Her facial expression, composure and everything would give away the fib in her words when she does it.
"Why not tell her the truth and get it over with? You know the Lycan King would do anything to get what he wants. There's no room for conviction when he has his icy claws on something." He commented after a minute of awkward silence.
The moment he mentioned 'Lycan King', my heart literally flew out of my chest. I'm hardly scared of anything, but even a toddler would fret at the mention of his name. That Lycan King single-handedly takes out a troop of wolves when an uprising happened against him.
"The Lycan king? What does he want with us? And Mom, what is the truth you're hiding from me?" I inquired already feeling uneasy.
"Should I do the honor of breaking it to her?" My father said, I'm not surprised at the hard tone he used in talking about me. We were like an Alpha and his pack member, always reminded of how he wasn't my real father.
"You have been chosen as a breeder for the Lycan king." Mom said avoiding my face.
It was like I am in a dreamland. And when reality hit me, my whole body went numb. The words kept playing repeatedly in my head.
"W-what?" I stuttered. "Why the hell would I be his breeder when the moon goddess must have paired him with someone already? There's no shifter without a mate!" I yelled, looking straight into my step father's eyes.
“You can’t run from it. You're the only unmated female born on the night of the purple moon and that's his specification. You know what the Lycan king can do to this pack if we deny him what he wants. Your details have been sent to him already.” He said with a smirk.
That every minute I knew there was something in for him. He can’t be this pleased if he wouldn’t be gaining from it.
"Are you meant to be a father figure to me even if I’m not your biological child?! Why do you hate me so damn much? I've done nothing but be obedient to you. An alpha hating on an omega has to be the most hypocritical thing to hear but here I am, experiencing it." I cried out.
"What about my mate? You think anyone would want to mate with me after I've been used as a breeder for the Lycan king?!" I yelled.
"You only need to be the carry his heir. Shouldn’t you be grateful for being the one who was chosen to breed the future king for our kingdom, you ungrateful brat!" He spat on my direction with so hatred in his eyes.
A loud sound resonated in the room. It took me sometime to see that my mother had just slapped him. She panted heavily as her own expression mirrored the anger on his face.
"That's my daughter's life we're discussing here, not some rogue. I'm sure as hell you wouldn't wish that on your daughter. After all, she's your precious princess. And here you are, about giving mine out as a breeder. You're nothing but selfish and I regret even coming across you. You're the worst mistake I ever made!" mum cried out angrily.
My mother kept screaming at him, although what I could make out was only the outline of their faces. Everything else was very blurry. Suddenly, my eyes closed on their own will, as I felt body sliding down the wall. I tried everything within my power to not lose consciousness, but eventually, darkness became the only think I could see.
"Lupe! Lupe!! Answer me…. Why is going on? You can't leave me like this." The voice kept getting farther as each second passed until I couldn't hear anything else.
I gave in to darkness, willingly. It looked like the only escape I could get from this madness around me.
"She went into shock, but she's all good. Nothing a few hours of rest won't do." The man who is supposedly a doctor, said.
Sniffles met my ears, I snapped open my eyes fully when I saw that it was Mom who was crying. "Thank you, Doctor Archer. It's just so overwhelming that she has to go through all this. My baby girl did not deserve all this." She uttered.
Doctor Archer is the head doctor in the pack's infirmary. He only attends to people whose situations are critical. I'm not in a critical condition, am I?
They still had no idea that I was awake and could hear what they were saying, as they weren't facing me.
"You might need to take it easy, Luna. Lupe is all grown and can make decisions herself. Let's hope the Lycan king reconsiders his decision. I see no reason why he's hell-bent on getting a woman born on the purple night. Might be some fetish desires. Who knows?" The doctor said with an extreme calm tone.
I'm surprised he could say such things about the Lycan king, especially to someone in a high position, like my mother, who could sell him out in no time. The Lycan king is one whose name is mostly whispered and rumors said, he would sometimes pop out of nowhere and beheading those who talked ill about him.
"I'd rather die than see Lupe go through the torture of even staying in the same room with him, talk less of having sex with him to breed his pups." Mom's tone grew hard as she talked with disgust dripping off her tone.
My ears perked up at her words. I sat upright on the bed, my mouth hung open in shock. "I am never going to accept what your husband is suggesting. The Lycan king should do his worst." The words came out of my mouth before I could caution myself.
I've gotten wary of calling that man my father. I only thought it would be a sane thing to refer to him as one since he's married to my mother.
"Lupe, you're awake!" Mum rushed over to my side on the bed, hugging me tightly as she sobbed quietly.
I gently detached from her. Her words from earlier still ringing in my head. "I'm fine, Mom. Was I dreaming about me going over to The Lycan King? It can't be true, right? For how long have I been unconscious?" I burst out to her with questions.
"I'm sorry. I failed you as a mother." She replied in a shaky voice.
"Oh Lupe, it's a good thing that you're awake. You're discharged. We only needed to see to it that you're awake and okay. You've been here for three hours." He stated, interrupting mum and I from saying anything else and I turned to face him. "You only need premium rest. Your panic attacks are getting too rampant, which isn't good. Medically, I'd advise you to stay out of overwhelming situations, it's different seeing as the situation surrounding you needs precarious answers. I'll advise you just take it easy. Let fate take its course." Doctor Archer advised.
"I'm free to go now?" I asked him, feeling the need to run away from the pack. The earlier the better. Mum would be safe since she was the Luna and, the Alpha truly cares for her.
"Yes." He replied.
I took the covers off me and without taking off the hospital gown worn on me, I walked to the door. "Let's go, mom."
"You need to return the gown first." She mumbled with a little smile.
"I'm sure Doctor Archer won't mind me wearing it to go home. I'll send it back." I rushed out of the room.
Pack members glanced at me weirdly as I ran as if being chased by a wild animal. Most of them had disgust etched on their faces. Not everyone liked the idea of an omega being elevated to an alpha's daughter.
I stopped suddenly when a scent I've ever smelt met my nostrils. I felt my wolf, who had been dormant since forever, stir within me. Cinnamon with a hint of woodsy scent. It was so alluring that I felt myself craving more of it even though I had no idea where it came from.
I looked around and towards the path where the scent was pungent. I almost swayed with how weak my legs got after seeing the sight before me.
"Mate." My wolf screamed.
“My mate?”
LUPE'S POV"Yes!" Leah, my wolf answered with so much excitement.I felt a mental connection to him instantly, my insides felt warm. A kind of comfort came over me just by seeing him. His face had a gentle, yet sharp edge to it. His eyes were deep brown, bringing to it a warmth that threatens to draw you in until you get lost in them. Dark, full eyebrows accentuated his face, lashes as long as that of a woman. His lips were full and dark pink in color. Unfamiliar sparks and an electric jolted me back to reality. My eyes widened as I saw that he was directly before me, and in fact, touched my head. The contact made me crave his touch more, the urge to lay in his thick arms for eternity, gripped me. My palm got clammy at how intense his gaze was on me. He leaned closer, "Hey, beauty." His deep, masculine voice met my ear. It was smooth as though he had nurtured the voice to make anyone drool over it."Hi." I mumbled lowly. I could barely recognize my own voice as it came out."I'm Beta
LUPE'S POVLaughter rippled out of my mouth as Garrett tickled my sides out of the blues. It's been two days since we met and it's safe to say that it has been blissful. He was given a suite in the pack house since he came to the pack on an official business pending the time that he was here. He'll still be here until we finish the mating ritual. It's traditional that it's performed in the female's pack, especially if she is one of the alpha's blood. Although Garrett now knows that I'm not the alpha’s biological daughter, he agreed that we do the ceremony here since my mother is Luna. I still find it hard to tell him about the Lycan king which I needed to do before the mating ceremony. I can't leave such important information out, it was even still fresh to be brushed aside, he deserves to know. The Lycan king niche had died down, Mom said the king wouldn’t want to take me as his breeder seeing as I've met my mate already. And I couldn’t wait until Garrett and I become one fully. Bo
LUPE’S POVIt was full moon and its pale light shined so bright for everyone to see clearly. Everyone was anticipating for the ceremony to be held. I peeped from time to time, checking if Garrett would seek in to see me before the ritual like agreed but, nothing.Honestly, I was stunned by the number of people who came for my mating ceremony. Might be because Garrett was a Beta. If just me, no one would have come to the mating ceremony because, I’m a mere omega but, they had no idea I wasn’t ordinary… a rare wolf.Mum later explained the reason I was considered a rare wolf. I never heard of the purple moon until of recent. Only a few, knows the legendary tales. However, I was dressed in an evening gown which had a low neckline to give Garrett easy access to marking me.Finally getting mated. But somehow, the mischievous smile Kiera gave me at noon, still made me feel unease. That they might have planned something up their sleeves. Something didn’t feel right. You'll be fine as soon a
LUPE’S POVHe instantly grabbed my face, putting pressure as he pressed on my lower jaw like he would crush it to pieces in a tighter squeeze.“You better behave.” And what followed next was a slap. I saw darkness with tiny shiny stars. It almost looked real until, it started to fade as the pain of the slap reduced. “You don’t talk to me in such a manner. Or do you have a death wish?” He asked with a raised brow.My anger were bubbling in my blood as I bit my lower lip, trying to suppress the urge to cry as tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my sight. No one has ever dared to slap me since I was the step daughter to the Alpha of my pack. “Let me go!” I muttered.Overlooking what I said, he took a few steps backwards and uttered with a mischievous smile, “You are beautiful. I hope that is how you are on the inside. The bastard of a mate hasn’t touched you, right? Guess he planned to do that tonight but, he I am to help him out on that.”My heart bleed knowing it was supposed to be my
LUPE'S POV"You are a beast!" I yelled, my voice quivering with rage and terror. My words kept lingering in the air, but the Lycan King literally ignored me. He was acting very calmly, as if he was the only breathing life in the room or maybe my defiance were only but a noise from a distant breeze.I sat at the extreme end of the bed, my body shaking not just in fear but to the fact that the sight of him was really disgusting. I held my arms tightly around my body, as if I was trying to protect the little pride left in me. I was too scared to dare to stand or try to make any rash movement. That very moment my mind was really racing with desperate thoughts."Lupe you can escape! Run! Just leave everything behind and run for your dear life."But even as those thoughts kept lingering in my head. I knew it was a very bad idea, clearly impossible. Even if I manage to sneak out of the room, there would be guards stationed at every angle of the house. I'm sure they are guards standing outsid
LUPE'S POV"Run! It's all on fire. Everything is burning to the ground," everywhere was on fire.I was startled awake by the screaming, but I didn't feel like I had actually woken up. My nose were overwhelmed with the pungent smell of smoke, and my ears were filled with people's frantic screams. Flames licked at the sky as I staggered forward, my feet crunching on the charred ground. Everywhere around me was hot and it seemed like the whole world was on fire. Cries and shouts radiated from all directions, combining to create an overwhelming clamor. Some wolves in human form were pulling others who were barely able to keep up as they rushed by me, their fur burning as they ran in utter despair. The pack village I had known my whole life was turning to ash, and children were screaming for their moms. It was an unbearable sight. My pulse was racing as I spun around in panic, trying to figure out what was going on. With every second that went by, the flames grew louder, mercilessly consu
LUPE'S POV Once more, the knock was sharper. After a moment of hesitation, I relunctantly stood up and yanked the door open. A woman in her early fifties stood in front of me, with her rude face and evil eyes that seemed to cut straight through me.They called her "Sarah the slasher," though I don't know why everyone in the pack house refer to her as that. Her eyes moved over me, from my bare feet to the tangled mess of hair that fell around my shoulders, and she made no effort to conceal her contempt. I could clearly notice the slight curvature of her lips in disgust."What took you so long to open the damn door?" she whispered, barely audible but loud enough for me to hear.In the back of my mind, my wolf Leah growled, and I tensed up. Leah hissed, "She's making fun of us."I ignored Sarah without even looking straight to her eyes. Then after a while I turned my attention away from leah and towards Sarah, who stood up straight and arched an eyebrow. "You've had enough of sleep thi
Lupe’s POVAs I left to get other things, i returned to see Kyan had left too. I hissed and continued my task.At last, the dining room was tidy. The sunshine pouring in through the tall windows made the floor so shiny. I felt a tiny twinge of pride at the work I'd done, even though my arms hurt from the scraping and I could still perceive some pungent cleaning solution. I gave myself a little moment of satisfaction because it was uncommon for me to feel like I had done anything here. After gathering the cleaning items, I put the mop back in its proper place in the corner and wrapped the rags with care. I was about to go to my room when I heard footsteps approaching behind me. I didn't even turn back before my stomach fell.I knew it was Kyan again. Who else could it be if not her?"What the fuck do you think you are doing?" She said in a very harsh, disrespectful tone. 'Why won't this b*tch leave me alone?' I wasn't surprised that she came back to check. And here I was, thinking sh
Lupe's POV "Please!" My voice was shaky was I stared at the height from where we stood to teh ground. Gretel turned back with a smirk on her face, "Now look at that, the little bitch is scared." She laughed hysterically. My heart was beating heavily, I knew I could fall down to the ground and be fine after a few hours, but falling down that height might kill my pup. A risk I wasn't willing to take, even though I had to crawl on my knees in dirt to plead for her mercy, I would do it. Once, I had mistakenly fallen over a cliff high enough to take a person's life, I had gone on a self approved sight seeing while I was much younger. Mother was busy tending to her Luna duties. I spotted a trail that looked pleasant but it was out of bounds, filled with curiosity, I wandered into a land of adventure and death. The trail had flowers that a little girl my age would squeal over and try to make bunches with. Excitedly, I picked the ones I saw, hoping to make matching bouquets for my mom a
Gretel's POV "What the fuck do you mean you can't find her?!" I screamed jabbing my palms against the bulging chest of the guard before me. "I'm sorry my lady." He bowed his head. "Tell me exactly what happened." I demanded."The guards took the maids to the main hall to check their health sta-" I interrupted him with a slap, "I fucking now that already!" He grimaced in pain, "My apologies." I couldn't help but release a strangled scoff as I stared into the cold dark night. Sebastian can shove his feelings up his behind, I needed to teach Lupe how to know her place and stick to him. For some days, I couldn't take my mind off her confession in the woods in the night of the full moon. She must've thought that she had a place in his life, she must be crazy to think that the dignified Lycan King would stoop so low to her level just because of some worthless fate. The night air was chilly but I didn't care about the cold. All I wanted to do was to deal with that bitch then I will f
Adrian's pov."What can I do for you Alpha Alex?" I asked as I walked towards my chair in the waiting room. He got up to his feet in reverence as soon as he heard my voice. "Alpha King. Greetings my Lord." He bowed. "Have your seat." I gestured towards the chair that was behind him. "Thank you Alpha." He settled into the chair."For some days now, I kept receiving reports of sightings of rogues at the boundaries of my pack." My fist grabbed the arm of my chair but I tried not to show any emotions. "Unable to keep calm at their frequent spottings, I decided to pay a visit to the outskirts of the pack. That was why I sent my Luna over to ensure her safety if it turned out to be a cover for their plans." He said.I didn't want to admit that I was pleased with his care for her and the action he took to ensure that she was not exposed to danger. "What did you find out?" I asked knowing be was heading somewhere. Alex sighed, "while I was there, I ran into your Beta." My grip tightene
Lupe's POV Fiona grinned, her white teeth in full display."Let's dress up to while away time." She said pulling me to her dressing table. "I think this will be so much funnnn!" I squealed and she laughed."I know it will be fun." She corrected pulling my hair up. "You have such rich and full hair, what's the secret?" She asked tying it up with a peach coloured ribbon. "My mother." I replied in a soft voice. Fiona was silent, she worked as I talked. "She has such long hair too, it's silky and dark." I was smiling as I went down memory lane. "The women in our pack were all jealous of her hair, it reached down her waist, I spent my childhood braiding and unbraiding them, she was my playmate, I never grew up with a sibling, but having her as my mom was enough." "She's a nice woman." Fiona said calmly. "Yes." I agreed with a chuckle. "There was a time I ended up tying her hair into knots all in the name of braiding, she didn't hit me or even snap, instead she wore it proudly ignor
Lupe's POV As usual, I was working in the kitchen with the only maids when a young girl who served Luna Fiona walked in timidly."Hey kid, what are you doing here?" Mira asked stalking towards the girl. The little girl moved back in fright, "The Luna sent me." She muttered."Luna?" Mira scoffed, "the last I checked, we have no Luna." The young girl moved back obviously intimidated. "Scram away before I send you fly with my palm." Mira snapped at the girl who bite back her tears. "Stop it!" I snapped at Mira, my tone shocking everyone including myself. "And who do you think you are to speak to me in that manner?" Mira asked frowning. "Silence! Assemble in the general meeting room, the Royal physician is here for the annual check up of the King's maids." A guard shouted standing by the door.My heart stopped. I'm doomed. All the maids tensed, they were obviously not expecting this. "Did you still do it with Harry?" A hushed voice asked. "I did, but I'm not pregnant right?" An
Lupe's pov"You're with a child right?" Her eyes were fixed on mine, pinning me down with her gaze. I swallowed hard. I did my best to conceal it, I tried overcoming my cravings, I made sure to swallow the bile that always rose up my throat at intervals, I did everything I could just to hide this but to what use? I've been caught by no other but the King's sister. An unexpected chuckle escaped me, I masked my fear with a mixture of disbelief and amusement. "What are you saying?" I laughed holding my stomach. This was totally ridiculous, she watched me laugh without saying a word. Her arms folded in akimbo. "How can that happen?" I swallowed giving her a light shove, "I don't know where and how you got to hear that ridiculous rumour, but I can assure you, that's not true." The lie felt like acid on my tongue. She remained silent watching me. "I'm not joking, I am really not pregnant." I said feeling stupid for my own outburst. It felt horrible to deny the existence of your child,
Lupe's POV I woke up feeling tired as usual, my breasts felt sore and heavier than usual. "I wonder if it's alright." I said to Leah. "I think it is." She replied. "It feels weird right?" I asked with a small chuckle. "It does." I laid on the bed staring at the ceiling, my stomach churned, I needed food. Managing to push myself up, I walked to the window, it was still dark. It wasn't time for our chores yet but my stomach was crying loudly for food."What do we do now Leah?" I asked pacing around the room."What else? If it needs food, we'll feed it!" She replied. "I don't want to get caught, I can't afford to let the King finds out about this baby." I said wrapping my hands around myself. "He won't, hurry now before the maids starts waking up." She said with an air of urgency. As if in agreement, my stomach released a loud noise. I patted it with a smile, "Don't worry, I will get you something really nice." I smiled hurrying to the kitchen. The guards were patrolling by the
Fiona's POV Instantly, his face changed. He dropped the glass back on the desk. "What about her?" He asked not looking directly at me. "Nothing much, I just noticed she looked more pretty these days." I said hoping to get a reaction but there was none. "What has that got to do with me?" He asked draining his glass before reaching for the bottle again. "I mean, you brought her to the palace to be your breeder, why not seize the opportunity to love her in the process?" I asked. He turned to me with a look that would make even Cenat piss in his pants but that didn't scare me. I went on, "what harm will it bring if you love the mother of your pup?" I asked, "if you ask me, I think it's a win win." I added not waiting for his reply. "Did she put you up to this?" His voice was hard. "What?!" My head jerked up instantly to glare at him, "No! Lupe will never." I added in a sharp tone. "Then why are you here?" He asked. "Alex wrote ahead but why are you here telling me all of these?"
Adrian's POV "Send the troops into the woods, tell them to do a thorough search. They must search every nook and cranny including the mountains." I said to Cenat. We were on our way back from an evening stroll. It was just a stroll in disguise, we had done a search in the streets for any rogues amongst the residents. Thankfully, we found none but I couldn't help but feel uneasy. "Yes my Lord." He replied. "I think you should go with them." I said turning to Beta Cenat. "Will you be alright on your own?" He asked. "Yes, I don't trust anyone but you, the royal commander seem a bit too shady." I frowned wondering why I haven't had him investigated before now. Beta Cenat frowned, "Did he do something?" He asked. I shook my head, "No, maybe not yet." "I will have my men keep an eye on him." He replied. "Will you be alright leaving your home for some time? I think the search will take days." I said."This isn't my first official assignment outside the pack my King." Cenat said wit
