“What the fuck is he thinking Sam?!” Aidan’s long fuse had finally reached its end. He was pacing back and forth in his bedroom while his Beta laid on the bed, completely calm about the whole thing.

“He obviously knows something we don't, Aidan.” Sam said in a tone not too different from a chastising mother.

“But they’re fucking Mages.” Aidan fumed. Sam had been his childhood friend, chosen Beta, and had found his way to Alpha Gabriel’s side after his own father had passed. Sam was sometimes needed to calm him down. His temper had been getting the better of him lately when it involved his father and his choices.

“Yes, and they're here to help the Luna.” Sam rose from his comfy spot on the bed and tapped Aidan on the shoulder. “And you think he isn’t on guard? Why do you think he put them up in the main house? In the Alpha wing? Yes, they’ll be close to the Luna, but they’re also being watched and guarded.”

“So you do know something?” Aidan scoffed. No wonder Sam was so collected.

“Your father has them under constant watch. My men are with them twenty-four seven. And the girl is being checked out. I have someone checking into her background right now. Your father isn’t leaving any stone unturned. Until your mother is healed and they leave, they aren’t off the watch-list.”

“I know I’m supposed to be comforted by your words, but I still feel uneasy, Sam.”

“Good. You should.” Sam slapped his shoulder roughly, “They are fucking Mages.” He echoed his words from earlier and grabbed the door handle, opening it. “Now, let’s go get something to eat. I’m starving.”

Aidan chuckled inwardly before following him out. He had just wiped a smirk from his face when he crashed into something outside the door. A ripple of shocks ripped through him.

“What the-” His curse was cut short by the groan of a rumpled purple cloak on the floor.

“Sorry sir, Alpha, sir.” One of Sam’s men said from behind the cloaked mess. The man reached down to pull up the girl-who had fallen after her crash with the young Alpha. He looked down at her and scoffed. “We were just on our way-”

“Handle it.” Aidan straightened his shirt and nodded at Sam to continue on. Although calm on the outside, he was shaken internally. The rush of power that had been sent through him on contact with the strange little apprentice had done something. It had awoken his wolf momentarily, and he had a perturbed idea of what that could mean.

“Are you ok?” Sam said later, as they jogged around the perimeter of the Packland.

They were on patrol, something not even the Alpha’s son could avoid. Not that he’d want to. Aidan thought an involved leader made a good impact on the Pack, and it let them know he cared about safety. The most pressing issues facing the Pack were rogues coming from the unclaimed wilderness to the East. They had been increasing in number lately, and Aidan wanted to know why.

“I’m fine.” Aidan lied. He still couldn’t shake the feeling he got from the apprentice.

“You’ve been in your head since you knocked down that Mage, man.” Sam panted, slowing to catch his breath at the base of a tree. Aidan stopped with him.

“I’m fine.” He stressed the word fine to let Sam know to back off.

“I’m just sayin’ maybe you got a feel of what was under that cloak?” Sam laughed through his breathlessness. “I mean, it’s natural to get worked up over a fine lady. Even if her face is so hideous she has to cover it with a bag.”

“Sam.” Aidan warned.

“I mean, she could just wear it while you fucked her. The best way to defend your Pack is to infiltrate it... from the inside.” Sam ignored Aidan’s moody glare. “It’s not like we have too many unmated gals left, Aidan. Or not that many ‘new to you’ gals anyway.” Sam was poking at Aidan’s zest for female company.

It was true. Aidan had pretty much fucked his way through the entire Pack’s unmated females. He used it as a distraction, and it worked well. Until it wore off, anyway. He kept it casual. He didn’t want pups or attachments. Most knew this and played the part. Others had to be shaken off after it was evident they wanted more. Aidan couldn’t give more, and this was evident to him through his affectionless thoughts. He didn’t find a woman anything more than pleasing to the body or useful to her Pack.

“Let’s go,” Aidan took off, leaving Sam to scramble to catch up. He needed some distraction.

“Fuck. . .” He sighed as the Gamma stuffed his entire cock down her throat. She was good at this. Her mouth was thick was saliva and his cock easily glided in and out of it.

He threw his head back on the pillows and let her continue to suck and nibble at his shaft. When he didn’t think he could take anymore, he pulled his dick from her mouth and turned her body around roughly so that her wet cunt was hoisted high. With her on all fours, he gripped his cock and inserted the shaft into her dripping pussy. She gasped at his entrance and moaned. He tensed from the clamping and started to pump in and out of her, gripping her hips and softly gasping.

Just when he was beginning to feel the start of an orgasm, something happened. His mind conjured the image of the girl, crumpled on the floor at his feet. He quickly brought his thoughts back to the present, but he couldn’t help longing for that shockwave he’d felt on impact with her.

His dick softened and his pumping stopped. He tried to massage it back into form, but it was useless. He wasn’t able to get hard again.

“Should I try, Alpha?” The Gamma looked up alluringly at him, wrapping her mouth around his length.

“No.” He pushed her away, disgusted at what had just occurred. He waited for her to get the message and gather her clothes, putting on his boxers and tshirt. When she left, he sighed deeply and ran his hands through his hair. Then he laid back on the bed and tried to gather his escaping thoughts.

“What the fuck is happening?” He whispered to himself.

“What is happening?” Back in her room, Aravia was trying to reign her emotions in. She had heard the laughter of a gamma down the hall. The slamming of a door, and then moans and what was presumably a headboard banging against the wall. She had assumed it to be the cocky Alpha’s son, Aidan. She knew it was unfair to presume such things without meeting him formally, but she also knew that wasn’t likely to happen anytime soon. So, she focused on her sightings and indirect encounters with him to base her opinion of his identity. “Fuck. . .” She felt her heart quicken when she heard his cry. His voice was ripe with his pleasure. Something Aravia had never experienced herself or given to another person. It was starting to make her heat up again. Her body was burning once more, and the space between her legs began to hum and buzz with arousal. She started to pace to get rid of the feeling. Calm your breath. She’d been involved in enough trouble with her classmates to be able to feel when someone wanted to hurt her, and she felt this familiar feeling now.“Turn around.” She slowly swiveled her body, trying not to fall on the now completely soaked floor. She had her eyes closed and decided she wasn’t going to open them. Her head drifted downward, ready for the beating. She waited for what seemed like forever. Aidan had finally gotten his brain to fall asleep, when he awoke to a scream. It was a blood curdling scream that instantly chilled his heart.
