“KASSANDRA...” She heard her brother speak whilst focusing his eyes on the road. Her mind went completely blank after what happened. She didn’t know whether she should be mad at the fact that her brother just spilled their secret out to Nix or the fact that she didn’t tell this to her friends, not even to her bestfriend.

They were on their way towards the Parker’s residence which Kris insisted of doing. She realized that he was just being protective of her, but this was just too much for her to handle.

“I’m sorry if I just blurted it out to her like that. She needed to know and eventually, everyone else would find out about it soon,” Kris told her.

“That’s why I’m more scared just thinking about it. If Nix reacted like that, then it’d be worse if the others would know.” She leaned her head on the window pane.

“Kace, we can’t hide this secret forever... Especially now that I need to closely supervise you. I can’t just let that incident happen to you again.” His face was serious and she

“LOOK at that. Even her friends are avoiding her now because she’s a cheater... A liar!” She could clearly hear the murmurs around her, as soon as she stepped out of their room.Nix has probably told the guys about her secret now so none of them dared to approach her nor even tried to demand for an explanation. Maybe they were too mad to even think about that. And she kept on convincing herself that it’s alright because it was her fault anyway. She sat on the cafeteria table and ate her lunch alone while watching her friends from their usual table. She just wished she could’ve told them about it so none of these could’ve happened but thinking about the fact that this was all for her brother, she had no regrets at all.She was busy playing with her food when suddenly, someone startled her from behind. “Kace! ONE thing that Kassandra "Kace" Larson learned in life was to never trust her brother in cooking. Seeing the over six-foot tall guy attempt to flip the egg on the pan infront of her triggered something inside her, but she just let him do his thing as she fixed her long dark hair up in a bun.“We should’ve just ordered something outside, brother,” she commented, not even disguising her lack of excitement for the breakfast.“Don’t even try to comment Kace ‘cause you’re far worse than I am.” Her older brother, Kristoff would always insist to cook, and yet he never made a decent meal ever.Kace nodded in agreement. “Yeah, well you’re not wrong about that. Let’s just grab something to eat while on the way to school, then.”Kris heaved a sigh. “Fine.” Even though Kris wasn’t her full-blooded brother, she appreciated the fact that he would always visit her, despite knowing how much hatred their stepdad had for her. She didn’t want Kris to be stuck in the middle between her and his dad. But,

DURING lunch, Kace and Nix sat on their usual table in the cafeteria. Chester showed up together with the other members of the editorial board, Kenneth Davis, Brandon Bailey and Maximilian King for their emergency meeting.“So, what do we do Chief?” Brandon laid his tray on the table and sat next to her.“I…honestly don’t know,” she answered him with a bothered look. The three guys felt that their EIC was definitely feeling a lot of burden now. They knew how much she wanted to keep the publication alive.“How about we post announcements for applicants on the bulletin boards?” The round-eyed guy, Kenneth suggested.Max narrowed his eyes at him. “We already did that and it will just be ignored, Ken.”“Then do you have any better ideas?” Kenneth turned to the others. They all shook their heads. Just as Kace was about to say something, the door of the cafeteria opened and revealed four guys approaching in a line. Everyone literally stopped and stared as they made their way inside. Starti

CHEM Lab started after the fateful event in the cafeteria. Apparently, everyone in their class saw what happened, which made Kace feel more horrible. She was greatly affected about what happened. Her friends tried to cheer her up, but they didn’t succeed. Chester glanced at Brandon, who looked at Nix who just shrugged her shoulders. “What do we do?” Brandon mouthed his words in silence.Chester lifted his chin and gestured Nix to move towards their friend. “Talk to her,” he whispered.Nix hesitated at first. But she decided to follow him so she stood up and slowly walked over towards Kace’s table. Their professor was busy reading something on his desk so he didn’t notice her standing up from her seat.Kace was busy focusing her microscope so she got startled when she heard her bestfriend beside her speak. “Kace, are you all right?”She nodded without looking at her.“Are you sure?”“Yeah,” she answered quietly.“Don’t think about it too much. KACE reached her apartment at around seven in the evening. She stopped by the bookstore earlier to buy some supplements she needed and she roamed around the streets just to get her mind off of the embarrassment she was still feeling. Setting her bag on the couch, her stomach suddenly grumbled. She remembered she still hadn’t eaten dinner yet so she proceeded to the kitchen. As she turned the lights on, a cold face of a guy welcomed her on the counter. “Where have you been, Kassandra? It’s late.” Her brother told her off.Sighing, she flicked the lights on and rummaged on the fridge. “How did you stand sitting here with the lights off?”“That’s not important. So? Where did you go?” Kris asked, still waiting for her answer.“I just went in the bookstore dad,” she emphasized that last part. She always liked to call him that, especially when he was acting like this.Kris chuckled. “Fine. Here. I heard your stomach when you entered.” He pushed the box of pizza on the table. She quickly sn

ANOTHER day meant a chance to redeem herself from the embarrassment that happened to her yesterday. Running towards the main entrance, the guard suddenly stopped Kace, confusing her.“Your identification card miss?” The guard asked her. “Oh, right!” She dug inside her bag and searched for her ID. Why did I forget to wear it today? I’ll be late again in class for sure. She managed to wake up early and avoid his brother’s attempt to make breakfast again and yet, this came up. “Miss, where is it?” the guard demanded her. Kace was positive that her ID was inside her bag but then, she couldn’t find it this time. Damn it!She was starting to get anxious, not because of the guard but because of the time. Come on just show yourself to me now. “If you don’t have it, then you can’t enter miss. You know the rules.” The guard reminded her, annoying her even more.“Uhm… it’s just here somewhere… please just let me in. I’ll be late for class now, sir.” She tried to beg but he ignored her instea

KACE walked her way to their office walking past the field. While walking, she suddenly saw Luke watching intently on the side as the soccer players warmed up. She sighed deeply before taking the courage to go up to him. “Luke.”The guy got startled when he heard his name being called. He turned beside him and saw Kace approaching. He was about to leave but then, she stopped him. “Wait!” He didn’t move and waited for her to speak. “Uh… w-were you just watching the players?”“Why are you asking?” He asked in monotone.“I just thought… maybe you wanted to join their team?”“No.” Luke turned his back at her and was determined to march his way out. But then, she spoke again. “If you want to join… I can help you.”But he didn’t respond and just walked away from her. Kace was pissed because of this. How rude! She still owed him for giving back her ID card so she just let that pass this time. Out of nowhere, the soccer ball came flying towards her way, bouncing on top of her head. Kace

“WHAT did I just get myself into?” Kace mumbled to herself as she walked along the hallways of their building. “How am I supposed to convince a student to join the pub? Ugh!” She shook her head.Suddenly, someone blocked her way. When she looked up, she saw Kris infront of her. “K-Kris?”Her brother smirked. “Why are you reacting like you’ve seen a ghost?”“Oh… uh… nothing. It’s just that students may see you talking to me,” she answered, almost whispering.“Don’t worry about it. They won’t notice. Why are you bowing your head while walking? What if you bump into a wall?”“I don’t care about the wall right now. I just don’t know where to find someone to join us.” She sighed.“I’m sure you’ll find a way. You’re Kace the Great, right?” He tapped her shoulder. She nodded at her brother. “You should get going now. Someone may see us.” She reminded him.Kris nodded. “Goodluck!” He turned his back and started to march his way out of the building. She continued to walk forward still thinki

IT has been a week since the incident happened. She has been discharged earlier than Luke but she wasn’t able to visit him in his room, not even once. After what she discovered about him having a relationship with Sophie, she felt like she should distance herself from him. They needed time for each other to patch things up, she thought. When Luke entered the room with a cast in his left hand, everyone in the room crowded him and started asking him questions about the incident. They were all so concerned about him. And though she also wanted to come up to him and ask if he’s alright, she decided to just stay still and control herself. He moved towards his chair after entertaining their classmates who just wanted to feel like they care when in fact they don’t. His first instinct was to greet Kace but then, he remembered his note to himself to stay away from her so he just shrugged it off.“Kace!” Someone called her from behind. She turned around and saw Stephen coming her way.“Hi Steph

WHEN Luke woke up, he felt his head still throbbing in pain. He could vaguely remember what happened last night. But there was one thing he was sure of... Kace was there to help him. That’s when it struck him... What happened to her?He quickly tried to get up from bed, but when he moved, he realized that his hand was connected to something. Just then, he heard someone speak, “Luke, stay still. You’re at the hospital now.”He looked infront of him and saw his brother standing up. “Where’s Kace?” he immediately asked.“She’s doing fine now. She didn’t have any major injuries so don’t worry. Just rest first,” Lance answered him.“I can’t just rest. I need to see her,” he said, getting up and reaching the IV bottle.“Luke, I already told you not to get up.” Lance warned him.But he didn’t care anymore. He just wanted to see if she was really alright. He continued to get up and when he started to walk, his foot slipped. Luckily, Lance was there to catch him just in time.“You just won’t r

LUKE shook his head trying to forget the awkward encounter he had with Sophie the other day. He wasn’t planning to attend class ever since that day she appeared and begged him for forgiveness. He just couldn’t stand seeing her and pretending that everything was alright. But he also didn’t want his brother to worry about him so he decided to just attend their classes and ignore the girl as long as he could.Kace couldn’t help but notice the strange behavior that Luke has been showing the past days. She couldn’t understand why he was suddenly acting cold. When she tried to approach him, he would just answer it quickly and shortly unlike before. She wanted to know what’s going on but she didn’t know how.She has been standing in the middle of the field with her classmates all lined up for the soccer drill. She hadn’t realized that it was already her turn to kick not until someone threw a ball at her. “Aww!” She rubbed her arm and turned to the culprit. It was one of her classmates who la

KACE was stunned when she heard Luke mumble Sophie’s name. Did they know each other? She shouldn’t even care whether they knew each other or not but she didn’t know why it keeps on bothering her mind. She was busy answering their worksheet in Chemistry when suddenly, their teacher spoke. “Ms. Larson, you will no longer be Mr. Hansen’s lab partner from now on. Ms. Sophie Young will be his partner.”She stopped for a second trying to absorb what she just heard. Does it mean I’ll have to work alone for the project? Why did they have to do this? She sighed, knowing that she couldn’t do anything about it. “Alright sir,” she mumbled without looking at their teacher. She stood up from her seat and was about to move to another vacant table to give space for Sophie but then, someone stopped her in the arm. She turned to her side and saw that it was Luke.“Sir, we’ve already started working for our project so i don’t think the switching of lab partners is possible,” Luke suddenly said to their

AFTER taking the bus going to the amusement park, they walked around until they found a good place to sit on. There were few people who were there at that time. Mostly were couples who were having picnic dates and just enjoying the rides. It was only her second time going there yet she felt like it was her first seeing how much the place has changed. She was thirteen years old when she first went there with her brother who was a year older than her. They both escaped just to go there and Kris got scolded really badly by his dad afterwards. She felt guilty that her brother takes the blame for everything she does wrong. He was always there to help her. And now… she has to face this problem on her own. She has no plan of telling it to him. She didn’t want to be a burden anymore to her brother.Luke turned to her and noticed how serious she was. It was his first time seeing her like that. He really wished he could find a way to cheer her up even a bit.Just then, Kace decided to speak. “

“IT was you, Ms. Kassandra Larson!”Those words kept on playing over and over inside her head even after their class. She still couldn’t believe that she was being accused of cheating in class. She didn’t even know how that paper got under her chair. Even if it was true that she wasn’t well prepared that day, she still couldn’t afford to cheat like that. Her classmates were all throwing her looks like she’s got a disease or something that whole day. But she tried to ignore all those. She was just thankful that Nix and her friends still believed in her.She rose up from her seat as soon as their last period ended. She still had to go to the library as part of her sanction. When she was about to leave, she was stopped by her friends. “Kace, don’t worry about it too much,” Nix said, hugging her.The guys nodded behind her. “Thank you for believing in me. That is enough for me,” she said to them.“We’ll find out who did this Chief,” Chester muttered.Brandon nodded beside him. “I’m sure

CHANDLER has been feeling a little bored watching a movie with Sophie in their Home Theater. He really didn’t want to date her but he couldn’t say no to his mom. He felt that Sophie wasn’t liking any of it either. He turned to her and noticed that she was feeling a bit sleepy. “Should we just turn it off?” He asked her.Sophie got startled when she heard him ask so she just nodded. “I’m… sorry. I’m not really comfortable with this.”He smirked. “Glad we feel the same way.”She fell silent after that. He’s not used to people like her. He just feels really awkward right now. Then, he decided to clear his throat just to break the silence. “Uh… so, what should we do?”Sophie stared at him with a blank face. Then, she scanned the corners of the room. “Your mom is probably watching us.” She pointed at one of the CCTV cameras which was directly focused on their direction. He sighed. I can’t believe mom. He patted his forehead in annoyance. “I guess we couldn’t escape.”Then, she checked her
