EVENLY’s POV
I pulled out a groan from my lips as I forced my heavy eyes open. I was in my room and not a strange place I had woken up to, yesterday.
I had a dream about seeing a man who was stalking me. Or was it not a dream? In my dream, I had collapsed and lost consciousness outside when I had an encounter with him.
How the hell did I get back inside?
My mind was playing so many games with me I don't know if I had a dream or if it happened, cause it felt so real. Well, some bad dreams feel like that. And for the stalker, maybe it was because I thought about him last night.
I groaned and rubbed my tired neck, but got a sharp sting. "Ouch!" I cried and pulled my hand away, only to see blood.
My eyes widened, as I jumped out of the bed and ran to the window. It was there. It wasn't a dream after all. It was just as I remembered. I got marked by that stranger.
My heart skipped a beat. This is a disaster. No, it can't be. How could I let this happen to me? Marked to a total stranger? That was like giving my whole life to a man I don't know. And as long as the mark was still there, that meant he was my mate.
I turned my neck to the other side and noticed the mark there too. It was there. This means one thing, I was marked by the same person. Putting it up together, it all made sense. The way he was staring at me at the bar. He must have known me right from the beginning.
I tried to calm my raging heart. I need to go to the pack's house for my new job or my life would officially be ruined.
I took in a deep breath and went to take a bath. I wouldn't allow anything to ruin my new job. This thing about getting a mark would be dealt with later.
.....
The pack mansion was way bigger and more luxurious than my formal pack. Anyway, the Red Fur wolves pack, was known for its riches and power. Its influence was raging over the other wolves' pack.
I finally got to be in the legendary Red Fur Wolves.
I breathed out deeply and went in.
"Excuse me," I called for the attention of a young woman, walking out of the mansion. She was dressed in a black button shirt and dark grey pants. Her hair was tied in a bun. "Please I am a new worker here. Where can I go from here."
She examined me from head to toe with her nose scrunched up. "Come with me." She said with irritation in her voice.
I ignored her expression and went with her. She led me to a room where some ladies were and walked away. I quickly went to take a seat among the ladies who I suspect were new workers too.
An older lady walked in and introduced herself as the head of servants who would be orientating us. According to her, we need to know the rules and regulations before we begin working for the Alpha's family, who are hard to please.
While she started on her orientation, I suddenly had that tingling feeling at the back of my neck again. The same feeling I have been getting since I arrived in Manhattan.
The same feeling of someone watching me. I sharply turned but there was no one. This is creepy. I was alone again and whoever it was, wouldn't show himself.
I swallowed hard and looked away trying to get the thought out of my head as I faced the woman, orientating us.
"No matter what you girls do, never you get close to any of the brothers. I know what you all must have heard about them, but believe me, they are all as vicious as you have heard. For your safety, avoid them all" The head servant advised. "Never you get close to any of them or fall in love with them. Trust me, you will regret it. They will make you regret it."
The other ladies began to murmur among themselves while I remained still, trying to think about the stalker who had been after me for the past couple of days. The first day I arrived, he was there.
I was no celebrity or someone anyone would love to associate with, and this made it even more scary.
"Is that clear!" The head servant said out loud and the ladies replied except me, who had no idea of what was going on.
The head servant's gaze fell on me and a frown crawled its way up to her face. "You seem to be absentminded, young woman. What is your name?"
I cleared my throat and answered, "Luna ma'am. Luna McCoy."
She nodded and went on, "What were we talking about?"
Okay, that would be a problem. I didn't hear ninety percent of what she said.
"And I want you to say them all out on your feet, while everyone looks at you."
Trouble in paradise.
I slowly stood up and swallowed hard. They were all staring at me. I opened my mouth to say something, but my words got caught up in my throat as I got that feeling of being watched.
I quickly looked back and a gasp fell out of my lips at the sight of the baby blue eyes staring back at me. No, it can't be.
Those eyes were so familiar that I would recognize them even in my dream. Please let it not be true. Let it be that I am seeing him in my dream.
The world came still and I was left with him, staring at me and my eyes, not leaving his. Right before me was the man whose name was registered in my head. An imprint he left behind. Jared Lockwood.
I thought I had finally left my life behind but right before me was the one who ruined it. Why the hell was he in Manhattan?
I turned and ran away, abandoning the orientation class for the new servants. I want to escape from him. I can't allow him to get a hold of me anymore.
Getting to the door, I was suddenly grabbed behind and swirled around to face the one who had caught me.
He drew me closer and I ended up leaning on him with my hands on his chest. I looked up to see the man and for a couple of seconds, my heart stopped.
That familiar ocean eyes stared right into me. I won't forget that gaze even in ten years to come. He is just as I remembered.
"Hello sexy wolf, it's been a while, hasn't it?" He had a smirk plastered on his face.
"Evelyn McCoy?" Someone called my name.
I looked beside us and saw him, staring at us from a distance. "Jared." His name pulled out of my mouth.
We both stared at each other for a moment before he took his gaze to the man holding me. He was the same man I had laid with at the club. The man who marked me. "Let go of her, Damien. She is not one of your women." Jared instructed but Damien laughed and shook his head."Since when do I receive orders from you loser?" He retorted and made his grip on my wrist, tighter. I tried to wiggle my way out, but his tight hold wouldn't bulge. "I said, let go of her!" he growled but Damien remained still, not moving a bit or showing any sign of fear.I was standing among the Lycan brothers. The men I should avoid and be far away from. The two of them share a history with me.One, Jared, is my ex, and the other, is the man I seduced and marked me. Surprisingly, the mark was still there and that meant he was my mate. And I think he is also the stalker who has been going after me since I arrived in the city."You came too late brother. I am not letting her go now." Damien said out, still having
EVELYN'S POVI wished I was dead.Maybe that was a little too much but, it wasn't too far off. I wish my life was different. I wish I had my mom and my dad, and everything was how it used to be.But it can't be. That life is gone. Most days, I wonder how people could be so happy. They seemed to have everything: perfect lives, perfect families, perfect loves. For me, nothing was perfect. My life was nothing but a series of unfortunate events. It was like the moon goddess herself had cursed me. Some days, I believed she had. As if she’d looked down from her silver throne in the sky and decided to take whatever joy I had left, one piece at a time. What was even worse was that I thought I deserved it. Maybe it was some twisted kind of repayment for everything that had happened over the years. I had no one to blame except myself.“We're almost there, ma'am,” I heard the taxi driver say.He snapped me back to reality and I caught him staring at me through the rearview mirror. I looked away.
EVELYN'S POVI closed the door behind me and locked it twice but, I didn't really trust the old locks. I kept an ear out for any suspicious movements but the feeling of being watched was gone.I stared at the note and the letter. The letter said my parents didn’t die in an accident. The words were burned into my brain already. It had been years since anyone had mentioned my parents’ death. Everyone had moved on, assuming it was an unfortunate accident. I had never truly believed it. Well, not entirely and now, someone else seemed to know the truth. But who?The second letter was just as confusing. It was an employment offer from the Lycan King's mansion, requesting me to serve as one of the housekeepers. I remembered vaguely applying and knowing I wouldn't get the job because of my conviction. But, I was surprised. I didn't know who sent it but the letter had an official seal and, a formal signature. There were precise instructions about when and where to go when I arrived.Everything
Evelyn’s POVI opened my eyes to the bright lights shining so bright in them and was forced to shut back. My head hurt so much and my neck wasn't accepting. It felt as if I had been hit by a heavy stone, rendering my body useless.A groan pulled out of my lips as I turned to the other side of the bed with my arms stretched. The bed is too big and wide, not like what I remembered. I don't ever get the opportunity to sleep on a big bed. Even in my formal city, Settle, I had a small mattress, even in jail, that was the worst bed I had. Andy's new home is not any better.Sensing I was in a different room other than my new, ruined room, I forced my eyes open, ignoring the sharp pain in my head, and sat up. I was indeed in a different room.I was the only one. Was I kidnapped or did I go into the wrong house?I looked around and it started coming back to me. I had shamelessly seduced a man and went into a room with him. The rest of the memory was a blur. I couldn't remember what happened w
