Lucas POV

After paying the bill at the restaurant, I insisted on treating Lisa and we hailed a taxi to her apartment, where my investigation would begin.

As we arrived at her cozy and inviting apartment, I couldn't help but be drawn to the warm and homely atmosphere. Soft lighting and tasteful decorations created a pleasant ambiance that put me at ease, at least momentarily.

The walls were adorned with framed photographs, capturing precious moments and memories. The living room had a comfortable sofa and a large television, inviting relaxation. It had a warm and inviting ambiance.

But my mind was preoccupied with the task at hand.

"Thanks for tonight, Logan. I had a wonderful time," Lisa said with a smile as we stood inside her apartment.

Returning her smile, I replied, "The pleasure was all mine, Lisa. I'm glad we got to spend this time together."

But behind that smile, I couldn't shake off my suspicions. I knew I had to act on them, even if it meant invading Lisa's privacy. So,

62Lilian POVInfuriated by Lucas behavior, I couldn't help but retort, "And by behaving this way, how exactly do you expect me to join your pack of my own free will? I am not some puppet to be forced into a role."With a stern expression, he coldly informed me," Lilian listen to me very well,” he began, his voice firm, “I would resort to force if necessary and make you my Luna." The threat hung heavily in the air, causing a mix of disappointment, annoyance, and anger to surge within me. Shaking my head, I decided to abruptly change the subject, trying to divert his attention."Is it possible that someone knew about your date with Lisa and purposefully placed the photo to frame her?" I questioned, my tone sharp with accusation. He let out a mocking laugh, his gaze piercing into me as though I were a fool. "Lilian, you always make these crazy assumptions," he scoffed. Just as his words echoed through the room, a sudden knock at the door interrupted us.Before we could give permission

63LilianI paused for a moment, trying to come up with a believable explanation. I couldn't reveal the truth about being a werewolf, so I apologized and faked a smile, "I'm sorry Grace, I had been lost in my own thoughts and not paying attention to our conversation. I'm sorry again." But Grace's curiosity persisted, and she urged me to elaborate. I took a deep breath, thinking quickly. How could I explain the concept of an alpha without giving away too much?"Well, in some groups or communities, there is a leader known as the alpha," I began, trying to choose my words carefully. "The alpha is usually the strongest and most dominant member, and their children are often seen as mischievous and capricious because they inherit some of those traits."Grace's eyes widened with intrigue, and she leaned in closer. "So, Logan is the son of this alpha? That's why he behaves that way?"I nodded, relieved that my explanation seemed to satisfy her curiosity. "Yes, exactly. Being the son of the a

64"Ughhh!"As I sat in my office, diligently preparing for the day's tasks, I was abruptly startled by the swinging open of the door. In stormed Lucas, who seemed to have a knack for interrupting my peace. Irritation bubbled up within me, and I shot him an angry glare, scolding him for his lack of manners."Lucas, what the hell was that? You can't just barge in without knocking," I hissed, my voice laced with frustration. "What if i was naked?"A mischievous smirk danced across his face as he leaned against the door, appearing to revel in my annoyance. "Well, maybe I wanted to catch you in a compromising state," he teased playfully, his eyes gleaming with a sense of mischief.Heat flushed across my cheeks as embarrassment washed over me. "Seriously? You actually wanted to see me naked?" I stammered, caught off guard by his audacity.Lucas remained leaning on the door, seemingly unaffected by my discomfort. "It's been a while since I've seen you naked, and I must say, it's rather enti

In the dimly lit basement parking, I stormed towards Damien's car, frustration and anger radiating from my every step. Slamming the car door shut, I caught a glimpse of Damien's concerned expression in the rearview mirror."Hey, how are you doing?" he asked cautiously.I couldn't help but respond with irritation, my voice laced with annoyance. "Do I look fine to you?"As we settled into the car, the sounds of the triplets arguing and yelling filled the confined space, their voices intertwining in a chaotic symphony of discord.Liam's voice rose above the others, exclaiming, "He took my toy!"Lana fired back, her voice filled with indignation, "No, I didn't! You're lying!"Landon attempted to mediate, his tone pleading, "Both of you, stop it!"Ignoring the children's bickering, I turned to Damien, my voice curt and impatient."Just start the car," I commanded, my tone leaving no room for argument.Damien, sensing the tension, leaned towards me, concern etched on his face."Did somethin

66The surprise and shock were still fresh in my veins as the young nurse the one I caught having sex with Lucas stumbled upon us, her cheeks flushing a vibrant red. "Oh my god, what are you doing?" she yelped, her voice a loud echo in the sterile quietness of my office. She clapped her hands over her eyes and let out a small whimper of disbelief, before fleeing with her face buried in her hands.Nervously, I turned to Lucas, my heart pounding like a drum trapped in my chest. "Lucas, go after her," I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper. He gave me a mischievous grin, his eyes sparkling with an unspoken promise. "Don't worry, Lilian. She won't say anything," he assured me confidently."But how can you know that?" I questioned, my voice trembling.Instead of answering, he simply smiled mysteriously and moved towards the door. 67I was taken aback. "How did you know that?" I asked. She smirked. "I'm a werewolf too, but from a different pack. It was me who recognized Lucas. That's his real name, by the way."Surprised, I leaned in closer. "Lucas? Yes he's the alpha of his pack?"She nodded. "Yes, and quite attractive too. I was hoping he could be my mate, but I was wrong.""How did you know about me?" I asked."He told me about you," she said. "Said you were his mate."I frowned. "What's the point of continuing a relationship with him to the point of having sex with him in the hospital's toilets?"She shrugged. "I lured him there. I've been in the human world for a while, and I rarely encounter other werewolves. I wouldn't miss the opportunity of having sex with a handsome werewolf, especially an alpha."Johanna looked around then said, "Oh, your friend seems to be getting impatient."As I turned to see Grace, I remembered that I had left her alone and I could see that she was starting to get impatient. "Who would want to harm you in the hospital of all places? And why during the fire?"Damien leaned forward, his eyes sharp with curiosity. "Did you see who it was? Do you have any idea who might want to hurt you like that?"I shook my head, feeling a shiver run down my spine as I recounted the terrifying ordeal. "No, I didn't see anyone," I admitted. "I had dozed off in my office and when I woke up, there was a fire raging outside. The door was blocked from the outside, and it took all my strength to force it open. That's when I realized that someone had deliberately placed a broom to keep me from escaping."I could see the fear in theirs eyes and knew that they were just as worried as I was. Michael seemed sure it was deliberately set," I reminded him gently. He turned to me with a sigh. "I should have listened to you earlier. You suspected foul play from the beginning and I didn't want to consider that possibility." His brows furrowed as he pondered who could be behind such a malicious act."Don't beat yourself up, you were just hoping for the best," I reassured him. "The important thing now is focusing on solutions."Damien nodded determinedly. "You're right. I need to put our patients first." He took out his phone and scrolled through his contacts. "Let me call Frank - he owns the gym next door. Maybe he can help us temporarily until the hospital is rebuilt."The phone

98Lilian My heart sank at his words, but I forced myself to stay calm, though every part of me wanted to lash out. “Why?” I asked, my voice almost breaking. “Why would you do that, Lucas?”He gave me a look of exaggerated disbelief. “What? A guy like me can’t settle down?”“You and I both know this isn’t about settling down,” I said bitterly, trying to keep the anger from spilling over. “You’re playing a game, as always.”Lucas shrugged, completely unbothered by my accusation. “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. What does it matter? Grace is head over heels for me, and I thought, why not? Might as well have a little fun.”“Fun?” I repeated, my voice rising despite my best efforts to keep it steady. “You’re talking about someone’s life, Lucas! Grace actually believes this is real!”“And whose fault is that?” he shot back, his smirk fading just slightly. “She chose to believe what she wanted. I never promised her a fairy tale.”“You proposed to her!” I spat, unable to contain my frustration a

96Lilian A few days later, I sat on the sofa, half-watching a TV show that I wasn’t really invested in. My mind kept drifting back to Lisa’s situation and the overwhelming feeling of helplessness that had gripped me since my conversation with Rebecca. The tension in the house was palpable, but I was trying to distract myself, anything to escape the weight of reality for a little while.Suddenly, I heard a loud knock at the door, followed by the unmistakable sound of someone letting themselves in. Before I could even process what was happening, Grace came barreling into the living room like a whirlwind."Lilian!" she shouted, her voice brimming with excitement as she practically leapt at me. I barely had time to react before she was hugging me tightly, her energy infectious. “Grace, what—?” I started, trying to get a word in as she pulled back and thrust her hand in front of my face. I entered the house and found Damien in the living room, lounging on the sofa with a book. He looked up as I walked in, his eyes narrowing slightly with concern. “Hey, Lilian,” he said, setting the book aside. “You’re home early. Everything alright?”I hesitated, trying to concoct a believable excuse. “Oh, um, I wasn’t feeling well, so I decided to come back early,” I said, forcing a weak smile.Damien’s expression softened, but there was a note of reproach in his voice. “I told you not to push yourself too hard. You should really take it easy. If you’re not feeling well, it’s better to rest up for a few days.”“I’m fine,” I insisted, though I knew it was a lie. “I didn’t think it was that serious.”“No, Lilian,” Damien said firmly, rising from the sofa and walking over to me. “You need to stay home a

After a few rings, a calm, professional voice answered.“Good afternoon, Zenith Investigations. I suspect she might be involved in something... illegal. I need someone to dig into her background, her recent activities, everything.”“Understood,” the receptionist said. “We’ll assign one of our best detectives to your case. When would you be available for a meeting to discuss this further?”“Right now,” I said, not wanting to waste any more t
