I grabbed my phone immediately and called emergency services. Kelly stared down at her feet, frozen to the spot as her mother lay motionless on the floor next to her bloody vomit. As soon as they had someone on the way, I grabbed Kelly and sat her on the couch, then moved to her mother on the ground and leaned over her, listening for a heartbeat. My mom was on her own two feet now, the withdrawals had finally subsided and she was eating normal food. She was also bustling around the house on her own without help. She seemed almost normal now.
