The guards marched into the woods under Grayson and Beta Luke's command, their sharp eyes scanning for any clue.

But it was as though the intruder had vanished into thin air. No scent lingered, no footsteps pressed into the damp earth.

Frustration etched itself on Grayson’s face. “How is this possible?” he growled, his voice tight with anger.

Beta Luke’s brows furrowed. “It’s like he’s not even a wolf… or he knows how to cover his tracks too well.”

“Whoever he is, he is no longer here in the woods,” Grayson said and reluctantly called off the search.

However, he didn’t let his guard down as he stationed some guards to remain in the woods while he asked the others to go into the pack and station themselves at strategic locations.

He ordered all pack members to be alert, and every corner of the territory was on high alert for a stranger.

In the evening, a guard near the bustling market square spotted a young man moving suspiciously.

He was tall and wiry, with a hood pulled low over hi

“Yes, don’t be surprised,” James said, his tone laced with malice. “A lot of us want him dead in this pack.” He leaned in closer, his piercing eyes holding Gilbert’s gaze. “Now, tell me—who is your Alpha, and why does he need information about Grayson?”Gilbert hesitated, but the oppressive silence and James’s unwavering stare forced him to speak. “My name is Gilbert. I’m from the Shadow Pack. Our Alpha is Jaxon. He needs this information to give to the leader of the wolf hunters. If he doesn’t comply, the hunters will destroy our pack,” he revealed, his voice trembling slightly.James’s brows furrowed in thought. “So, the wolf hunters are real. Do you think their leader has the power to kill Grayson?”Gilbert let out a heavy sigh. “I don’t know. Grayson is said to be incredibly powerful, and nearly impossible to defeat. That’s why we need a way to lure him out of the pack or find a weakness we can exploit. My Alpha also wants to learn more about his history—it’s critical to the plan.

The guards sprang into action, positioning themselves along the banks. Bows were drawn, arrows notched, and with a sharp command, a volley of arrows rained down into the stream. The sound of arrows slicing through the air and piercing the water echoed through the area as Grayson and Luke watched closely, their eyes scanning the surface for any sign of movement. An arrow struck Gilbert in his arm causing him to wince out in pain as waves of agony course through his body. He quickly clenched his teeth to stifle a groan to avoid being heard by the guard. He pressed his palm against the wound, desperately stemming the flow of blood.“I can’t be caught,” he murmured to himself, his voice barely audible over the muffled sounds of the stream. “My life and that of my pack members depend on this.”“Shh,” James said, gesturing to him with his hand for him to remain still. The two of them remained submerged, the cold water numbing their bodies while arrows continued to rain down around them.

Evelyn stood In front of Grayson's office, staring down at Gilbert's lifeless body lying on the cold floor. Her brows furrowed with concern, and her voice came out sharp and urgent. “How did he gain access to the pack?”Grayson crossed his arms over his broad chest, his face shadowed with frustration. “He forced his way in,” he said curtly.Evelyn’s eyes narrowed as she studied the body again. “He forced his way in and then went into hiding? Something doesn’t seem right.”“Exactly why I wanted him alive,” Grayson muttered, his jaw tightening. “But then he killed himself before I could find out what his mission was.”Evelyn straightened, her voice tinged with suspicion. “What if he had come to see someone in the pack?”Grayson’s expression darkened. “Someone was definitely helping him. There’s no way he could’ve known about the dungeon, let alone how to escape through it. He had help.”Evelyn gasped softly. “Oh my goodness, like a traitor within the pack?”Grayson nodded grimly. “Proba

James let out a sigh of relief as he arrived at the borders of the Shadow Pack after a day's journey. "Who are you, and what brings you to Shadow Pack?" a stern-looking guard called out, blocking James's path."I am here to see Alpha Jaxon," James replied firmly. The guard's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized James from head to toe. "Who are you, and what business do you have with our Alpha?"James clenched his fists, suppressing his frustration. "I’m here on an important matter from another pack. I cannot reveal my identity to you for security reasons. Just tell your Alpha that someone has come with information regarding the mission he sent Gilbert on."The mention of Gilbert struck a chord as the guard's posture stiffened. "Beta Gilbert? How do you know him?" He asked.James's patience wore thin. "Listen, young man, you’re wasting valuable time. Send word to your Alpha and let him decide if he’s interested in meeting me or not."The guard hesitated, then stepped away to communicate w

Alpha Jaxon sent a message to Jerry, detailing what had transpired and explaining James' demand for a meeting. The next day, Jerry arrived at the Shadow Pack's territory, his dark presence commanding attention as he stepped out of his vehicle.James waited in the pack’s meeting hall, his heartbeat steady despite knowing he was about to face one of the most dangerous men in the hunters' organization. When Jerry entered, his piercing gaze swept over James, assessing him with a mix of arrogance and suspicion.“Why did you insist on seeing me?” Jerry asked coldly, his lips curling into a smirk that didn’t reach his eyes. His tone was dismissive, as though James wasn’t worth his time.James met his gaze squarely. “I have information about Grayson—everything you need to know—but I want something in return.”Jerry crossed his arms and leaned back slightly, his posture radiating both disdain and curiosity. “What do you want in return?” he scoffed, his voice dripping with condescension.Jam

"His father killed my father," Jerry growled, his voice trembling with rage. "But today is not the day to dive into that story."His pacing quickened, each step echoing through the hall as fury radiated from him.Abruptly, Jerry stopped and turned to James, his dark eyes glinting with malice. "Tell me, what is Grayson's weakness? How can I make him suffer the way his father made me suffer?"James hesitated briefly, gauging Jerry’s volatile mood. Then he spoke, his tone measured. "Grayson’s strength lies in his wolf and the Alpha bloodline. If you want to defeat him, you must prevent him from shifting. In human form, he can be easily defeated but as a wolf, he’s another being entirely—feral, deadly, and nearly unstoppable. He heals rapidly in wolf form, making him impossible to kill through conventional means."Jerry’s jaw tightened as he absorbed the information. "So, to destroy him, I must trap him in his human form. That’s the key.""Exactly," James confirmed.Jerry resumed his paci

James returned to the Silvermoon Pack and was greeted with the sight of pack members pinning up posters with Gilbert’s face at strategic locations in the pack.“What's happening?” He asked one of the men pinning the poster.“Are you not in the pack? Alpha Grayson had sketched the face of the man who broke into the pack, he had sent out scouts to all neighboring packs to find out who he was and offered a great reward for anyone with information about him,” the man explained to James.“Oh! “First we need to free the hunter in the cell, Jerry wants to use that to confirm my loyalty,” James revealed.“How do we go about that?” Lisa asked, her mind brooding with thoughts of what to do.“I'm thinking I should try and break into the prison at night, free him, and take him out of the pack,” James explained.“That will not work,” Lisa said firmly, shaking her head. “The security is very tight at the moment so that might not work. None of them spoke much, the weight of the night’s events keeping them silent. As the first rays of dawn broke through the trees, Grayson exhaled deeply, his sharp gaze still fixed on the wreckage. “It’s over,” he said quietly, his voice laced with finality. “Jerry’s gone.”Nix stretched his arms, yawning. “I’ll admit, I didn’t think the bastard would ever meet his end.
