EVE'S POV
Muffled sounds, filtered through the door of the room on the first floor, a mixture of groans, moans, and grunts.
Inside the room, a man drove his hips between the legs of his lover, chasing an orgasm.
"Keep it quiet" Jake groaned as his lover's moans took a new high tone, as he drove deeper into her.
"Someone can probably hear you in the hallway!"
The woman looked up at him.
"Who cares? Maybe I should scream so Eve can hear us. It looks like you need a little help in breaking up with her."
Jake squeezed his eyes tight and focused on the pleasure building in his abdomen.
I clearly was the last thing he wanted to talk about while making out with my sister.
"Why are you still with her, anyway? You have me. why do you still keep that worthless woman around?"
Jake pulled his strength out of Cindy, and when his tip was on the very edge, thrust came back into her. A loud gasp left her mouth as he picked up the pace of his thrusts.
She threw her head back as he took her hard. There was no better way to shut her up than fucking her harder.
"Oh my God.. Jak..yes..yes..."
While the couple lost themselves in each other's embrace, the front door of the house opened and I stepped in. My mind was preoccupied as I took the stairs.
The visit to the hospital to see my beloved caregiver had taken a toll on me.
Sandra had been diagnosed with acute kidney failure, and I felt guilty and helpless that I couldn't do anything to help. After everything she had done for me while growing up at the orphanage.
I wished I could help her get the treatment she needed. But that required a lot of money. Money I didn't even have. I wasn't going to give up, though. I was determined to exhaust all means to try to get the money Sandra needed for the treatment.
I came to a stop in the hall way of the first floor as a strange sound reached my ears.
At first, I thought I was mistaken, but before I could walk away, another sound came. It was a loud moan, and it was coming through my sister's bedroomn door.
I sighed and rolled my eyes. I didn’t know why, but I wasn't in any way surprised.
I was about to walk away when the next noise to come through my sister's door stopped me cold.
"Oh my God, Jake. You're the best!"
Jake? Why was Cindy moaning out my boyfriend's name?
My heart began thundering in my chest,as I stepped up to Cindy's door.
"You like that, uh?"
That voice.
My mouth fell open at the masculine voice. It really was my boyfriend!
"Yes! Oh my..ohhh.." Cindy's voice faded into a long moan.
I was gripped with such shock that I didn't know what to do. A part of me didn't want to believe that this was really happening.
My sister and my boyfriend?
I shook my head
"I can give you everything that she can't, Jake. Dump her!".
I jolted as Cindy's voice came again, more stable this time.
Jake's voice was lower, but I caught his words.
"I told you I'll take care of it, Cindy"
"You've been saying that since forever. I refuse to share a man with that worthless orphan!. If you don't break up with her, I'll tell her about us."
“Cindy-"
At this point, I had heard enough. Gripping the door handle, I twisted it and shoved the door open. It flew open, hitting the wall behind with a bang.
There were a couple of shouts as the two people on the bed in front of me scrambled out of each other's arms.
"Eve?" Jake called out my name, his eyes wide.
I stood in the doorway, my entire body trembling with rage. But I folded my hands into fists and clenched I jaws tight, determined not to break down in the face of the two traitors.
Jake was looking around the bed, in the sheets, over the edge... And there, he finally found his boxers and pulled them on. Then he rose to his knees, a desperate look on his face.
"Eve..it's not what it looks like" he claimed, seeking my eyes.
I huffed. Not what it looked like? Does he think I am stupid?
"How dare you?" I seethed through clenched teeth.
Jake shook his head.
"It was a mistake, I swear. Let's go talk"
I hated the look on his face. He actually managed to look contrite after I had caught him fucking my very own sister! How shameless.
Still, it was that look that took me down memory lane and made my heart squeeze painfully.
I had always thought Jake was the idea boyfriend. He so sweet, attentive and romantic. He treated me well and often surprised me with gifts.
I never could have imagined that it was all a lie. And to imagine that I had fallen for him…
"We are done!" I told him, my voice firm.
"No, no," Jake cried, crawling to the edge of the bed and getting down to the floor on his knees.
"Don't do this, Eve! Look!" He slapped his face.
“I’m sorry:" He slapped himself again and again.
"I’m so stupid, I'll never do it again. Please don't break up with me!"
I stepped towards him. And as I got closer, he attempted to reach out for me, but I stepped out of his reach.
"Don't touch me!"
Not with those hands that were just on my sister. Those hands that had held her so gently while he told her how much he loved her. While he lied..
He drew my hand back, and I quickly swung it forward and slapped him across his face, while he grabbed his smarting face, as I repeated my words, my voice as cold as I could make it.
"We. Are. Done."
On the bed, Cindy gathered the bed sheets around her as she watched the exchange between Jake and I. Good, just what she wanted.
Her celebratory moment halted when l looked over at her, my brown eyes giving her a cold gaze. After mastering her courage, she threw her head back and faced me, ready for whatever insults I wanted to throw at her. But all l did was give her a blank look, as if I couldn't care less.
It made her hate me even more. Perhaps she might me going wide in her thought.
“How dare she look at me like that, as if she was above me or something? She was just a parentless reject, my parents should have never adopted”, this were the exact words i presume she would be saying inside of her.
"No, Eve, don't go", Jake resumed his begging as l turned around to walk away.
"I swear l'Il never do it again!"
"Let her go!". Cindy hissed, disgusted by his pathetic begging.
"What is going on here?", a stern voice demnanded.
Cindy went shut as her parents appeared in the doorway. I stepped to the side, my eyes on the floor, while Jake got off his knees quickly and backed towards the bed.
Jeffery’s eyes fell on his eldest daughter.
"What is going on here, Cindy?"
Cindy looked away, her eyes glaring across the room as she held onto the sheet around herself. She didn't answer her father's question, for she didn't need to. The evidence of what had transpired was open for all to see.
"You are engaged to Morgan Caruso, and you're busy having an affair with your sister's boyfriend?" father demanded.
“I don't care about Morgan Caruso. I won't marry him” she retorted.
"Stop this nonsense right now" father commanded.
He turned on Jake and pointed at him.
"You, get out!"
Jake moved to do just that, but Cindy crawled to the edge of the bed and grabbed his arm.
"We are having a baby"
The room fell into total silence.
I looked up at my sister, my mouth going dry
“What did you say?”, Morgana, our mother demanded.
"I'm pregnant with Jake's baby. I can't marry Morgan Caruso."
Father paced the room, shoving his hand through his hair.
"Do you have any idea of what you've done, Cindy? We had an agreement with the Caruso's family! What do we do now?"
"She can marry him," Morgana said.
Quickly, my attention switched to my adoptive mother. Her eyes were on me.
"What? No, I.."
"Your sister is pregnant with another man's child. You're the only daughter we have to fulfil our agreement.", she cut me off.
Daughter? Oh, now she considers me their daughter?.
"I’m sorry, Eve, but your mother is right", Father said, giving me an apologetic look.
"We cannot break our agreement. We'll have to present you as our eldest daughter, so you can marry the Caruso's eldest son”,
I shook my head. No, I wasn't going to be forced into a marriage with a man I don't even know.
All this, after finding out that my boyfriend was cheating with my sister?
"We took you in, fed you and clothed you! This is the least you can do to show your gratitude", Morgana told me.
I bit my tongue. Why did they bother to take me in if they considered me a burden? One would think they were forced to adopt me!
I felt my anger melt the moment my adoptive father placed a hand on my shoulder and gave me a soft look.
Jeffery had always been warm towards me.
"How about this? Marry Morgan Caruso, and I'll cover the medical expenses for Sandra"
My eyes widened as I gazed at my father.
"What?"
He nodded.
"You know that she can't afford it", he added
Marrying some strange man so I can help Sandra pay off her medical bills?. I wished I had a better option, but there was none.
Sandra’s family had backed her into a corner, and each day Sandra stayed without treatment, her condition worsened.
I would never forgive myself if something happened to Sandra just because I didn't want to meet my family's demands. She had done so much for me..
"Okay”,
"l will marry him”.
EVE'S POV I twisted my fingers on my lap, and casted another look past the seated guests at the entrance of the gardens, where my wedding was taking place. My brow furrowed slightly when there was no sign of Morgan Caruso or any of his family members. The ceremony had been supposed to start two hours ago. All the guests from my side of the family were already here, but not one from the groom's side. Now, I was reduced to nerves as I sat and waited. Was he going to make it? I had never met him, but I had heard that he was an idler. What if he decided to not show up? Firstly I was been forced into marrying a stranger only to have him ditch me at the altar… All this not long after what happened with Jake and my sister. The two were seated on the front row, and I was doing my best to ignore them. Cindy had been stuck to Jake's side since they arrived, and a few comments had been thrown around about what a beautiful couple they were. But I tried not to let it get to me. While it stil
MORGAN’S POV I noticed the moment she noticed my brooch and frowned. I looked down at the pricey jewellery and smiled."Do you like it?" I leaned in, getting closer to her ear. Lowering my voice, I whispered, "It's actually fake, borrowed it from a friend"She nodded and pulled back, her face flushing."Yeah, uh, it looks real;"' she said, pulling her hand from my arm and stepping away.I was happy my little lie had worked. Otherwise, how would i explain wearing a brooch worth two million when I was trying to pass off as poor?I was also confused as my bride withdrew from me, as if suddenly shy of our closeness.Mh. Was she putting up a show? According to my source, the eldest daughter of the Luciano's family was anything but demure. I had expected to meet a bold seductress. But my bride seemed to be doing her best to avoid my gaze, and now, she was putting physical distance between us.Before I could think of a way to draw her from her shell, the woman who had attempted to waylay
EVE'S POV I looked towards the bathroom. It was the only private place in the house. I guess It at least solved one of my problems. I would never have to changed in his presence. I would only wish he did me the same courtesy and stopped undressing in front of me."Yes" i said, nodding. Still keeping my gaze away from him, i walked towards where my suitcases were sitting. Opening one, I looked for my towel and a change of clothes. Then, without another word to him or a glance towards his side, I hurried towards the bathroom, opened the door, and disappeared inside. The bathroom was not as spacious as the one back home, but it had enough space for a shower, the toilet, and counter space. There was no bathtub, but that was fine. I could live without those relaxing herbal baths I had gotten used to at my family's home. It's just a small price to pay.Looking at myself in the mirror, I cursed softly. My face was still covered in all the makeup I had worn for the wedding. I had forgotte
EVE'S POV My heart hammered away in my chest. Why was he suddenly asking that? Have I said something to give myself away?.If he finds out the truth and cancelled the marriage... No! I couldn't let that happen. If he discovers my family's deceit, my parents would no longer cater for Sarah's treatment."Of course I am" I replied, crossing my arms across my chest. "Why would you ask that?".He didn't answer immediately. Instead, his eyes narrowed as he continued to stare at me. It made me even more uneasy."You are the Caruso's' eldest son, right?" I asked, attempting to shift the attention from me to him.He shoved his hands in his trouser pockets and rocked on his feet. “I am", he said and I nodded. "Well then, it's all good, right?”MORGAN POVKnowing that I was going to marry a strange woman to fulfil my mother's wish. I sent someone to investigate the eldest daughter of the Lucianos. I had needed to know about her so he could figure out how to encourage her to divorce him qui
EVE'S POV My face burned red at Morgan’s words and proximity. Why was he suddenly acting this way?.I had already made it clear that I wasn't going to share the bed with him, let alone sleep with him!He must be teasing me!.His lips was so close to my ear as he whispered."What do you think?"What did I think? I couldn't even think, for one. The only thing I knew was that I needed to get out of this situation…Quickly, I ducked under one of his arms and sprinted across the room to the bathroom. I didn't care of how I looked like running away. I would deal with the embarrassment the next day. Now, all I had to do was remain in the bathroom until he went to sleep then I could slip back into the room.Heaving a sigh, I walked to the mirror and took in my appearance. My face was a raw shade of red, and when I placed my fingers against it, i felt how hot it was. When was I going to stop having such a reaction to him?MORGAN'S POV When I woke up the next day, the first thing that regist
MORGAN'S POV When I got to my new in-laws house, I wasn't expecting to be welcomed by the sight of my wife being thrown out of the house. As she stumbled onto the porch, I reached forward quickly and caught her arms, steadying her. "What's going on?" I demanded, taking in her face. Her face was flushed, her lips pursed, while her eyes were teary and red."Nothing"' she muttered, turning her face away from me and freeing herself from my grip. "What are you doing here?", she inquired.I looked towards the open door, where.Eve’s sister had been standing a few seconds ago. Turning around, I spotted Henry who was carrying several shopping bags. "Henry, bring them into the house" I told him."Okay, boss" Henry agreed and walked past Eve and i into the house."What is that?" Eve asked as she looked closely at the bags Henry was carrying."Gifts for my new in-laws," I answered, and then reached for her hand. "Come on, let's go inside!"EVE'S POV I was a bit hesitant to take his hand, b
EVE'S POVI was taking in the spectacle unfolding before me, when Morgan took my hand and led me towards the front door. Of all the ways I had expected Morgan's visit to go, this was definitely not one of them. I could still hear my mother and sister's grumbling as the door closed behind us.Morgan kept his hold on my hand all the way to the front of the house. When he let go, he came to a stop and regarded me. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming to your parents' house?"I looked towards the door, half-expecting my mother to appear with more flattering words for Morgan. While I did, I jogged my brain for an excuse to give Morgan. It wasn't as if I could tell him that I came to collect the money that my parents had promised me, on the account that I married him…"Eve?" Morgan's voice urged.Looking away from the door, I faced him."I'm sorry about that. When I left the house, I got a call from my father asking me to come by immediately. I didn't have time to tell you."I remember
EVE'S POV After settling in my new home, I had one more thing to do, finding a job. The sooner, the better. I was no longer getting any money from my parents, and Morgan’s financial situation wasn't the best. So the sooner i got a job, the better it would be for all of us. Once I find a job, maybe I could look for a new apartment to rent. Although, the house we were living in wasn't exactly the worst, it was practical at best. Living with Morgan in the same room when we were only pretending to be a couple had its own share of challenges I wished to fix soon. With a good job, I could be able to afford to rent a good apartment where we could each, have our own rooms. Also, once I find a job, I would have fewer things to worry about and finally focus on finding ways to raise funds for Sandra's medical bill. I had high hopes of finding a job quickly. Just the other day, I had received a call for an interview from Edwards Group, a famous design company that was renowned in the fashion
