Eighty eight

MORGAN'S POV

I spent the next two days in the hospital and left on Monday. They were the longest two days of my life, and only Dickson giving me multiple updates per day about Eve's whereabouts kept me from saying damn it all and leaving against the doctor's advice.

I left the hospital in Dickson's company, with Henry driving us. It was only a few minutes' ride to the company, but it felt like it was taking forever. I looked at my watch. It was twenty minutes to nine o'clock. I knew for a fact that Eve was already at work because Dickson had her department director report to him the moment she showed up.

I exhaled heavily. I couldn't wait to see her face... hear her voice... hold her...

If she would let me.

I tapped my fingers on my thigh rapidly. The memory of that day at the hospital flashed through my mind. How she had run away from me, and the accusations her sister had made. The fingers on my lap curled into a fist. I refused to believe it. My sweet Eve would never... I exhaled
