Chapter 37

Zydan-

“Why are you avoiding Lia?” Jaxon asked, sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed on the coffee table.

“I’m not.” I kept my attention on one of the various emails I was reading.

“You can fool everyone except for me. You haven’t been home for over a week, and you ignore any call or text you receive from Lia. If you see her around the office, you detour to avoid running into her.”

Clenching my jaw, I stared at the email I had been trying to focus on for the past ten minutes. He was right. I was avoiding Lia, but only because I couldn’t grasp my emotions. Ever since I found out that there was a possibility that Jaxon had found the girl I had been searching for, my mind kept going back to that night six years ago.

“Is it about the girl?” Jaxon asked, and I wondered if he could read my mind.

“No.” I lied.
