“That may apply to others, but not me." The man's cold, emotionless voice conveyed his habitual superiority and arrogance.

Celia calmly countered, "Doctors treat all patients equally. No one gets any special privilege."

She took this job very seriously with a stubbornness she did not even realize she had.

Silence fell on the other side of the curtain.

The ultramarine curtain suddenly felt like an imposing wall, making it hard to breathe.

"Sir, it's her first day on the job. She doesn't know the rules yet. Please don't be angry!" Dr. Sanders apologized frantically to the person behind the curtain while shooting Celia a sharp glare. "You should leave now!"

Celia was briefly at a loss, but she soon regained her bearings and prepared to leave.

"She can stay," the man behind the curtain suddenly spoke. "Let us begin."

Celia sat back down, surprised. He should have been displeased, but he did not seem to mind.
