Heather POV I sat up and stared at Lucas. Was he asking because he didn’t want any? It is unusual for an Alpha not to want an heir, but it does happen. I know that it was most likely because of my period, but the thought that Lucas didn’t want kids made me burst into tears. Was it that he didn’t want kids or did just not want them with me because they have the chance to be like me with the mixed genes and just bring more trouble to the pack? I pushed off Lucas’s lap and headed for my bedroom. There was a knock on the door thinking it was the pizza, I didn’t turn around the guys could handle it. I lay on my bed crying. Not even fully sure why. I don’t know if I’m upset, because I think that Lucas doesn’t want kids with me or the fact that they would give up the chance to be fathers to be with me. But I want kids and I want them with Reed and Lucas. I heard my bedroom door slowly open, thinking that it was one of the guys I didn’t look to see. “Hey, Heather.” I sat up to see Cassy sta
Heather POV The guys and I spent the rest of the evening just chilling on the couch and eating pizza. I don’t know how long Cassy stayed because at some point I fell asleep curled up on the guys’ laps. When I woke up, Cassy was gone, and I was in one of my favourite places, cuddled between the guys. We got up and had breakfast before my stomach started growling. Nolan had called earlier and said that he and the others were on their way home to get things ready for the party tomorrow. After getting off the phone with Nolan, I was sitting debating whether I should call Cassy or not. I know she said that she was coming to the party, but I kind of wanted to let them meet in a bit more of a private setting. Instead of calling Cass, I called Bryce. “Hey, Heather, how are things going?” Bryce asked with a little hint of worry. “Good, everything is good. I’m actually calling about Cassy. “Is she over there again? I told her you were going to get sick of her, especially when you’re trying to
Reed POV “Indigo called it a premonition power, but the visions that I will be able to have could be the future, the present or the past.” I heard the pot start to boil over and ran over quickly to pull it off the burner. “Well, you could have given me a warning that was going to happen,” I said with a chuckle. As I wiped up the stove top the best I could with the burner being hot. After setting the pot back on the burner to finish cooking the contents, I leaned back against the counter and just stared at Heather. My mind wonders as I think about what Heather just told us. We knew that she was special and had already shown signs of her witch genes, but I never stopped to think that it would be more than just a heightened sense of ...warning? How many more is she going to have? How strong is she going to be? Will she be the target of other packs for the rest of her life or just until she is marked? How long are we going to be able to hide what she is? Should we hide what she is? I
Heather POV I’m in that forest again, at least I think it’s the same one. Things are still blurry and muffled. This time, instead of a cave, I can hear yelling, and it sounds as if someone is running. The sound of branches snapping right behind me had me whipping around to see who it was. I can’t make out any figures, but I can tell that it is a woman. I watch as she bends down, grabs a handful of animal droppings and starts to rub it on her clothes. The only thing I can think that she is doing is trying to disguise her scent. She must be trying to hide from the people who are yelling. I really need to learn how to control these visions. Ahhh if I could only see her clearer or understand what the others were talking about, maybe this would be useful. As it is now, it’s just frustrating. Things started to fade out. NOOO. I need to figure out what is going on. ‘Indigo.’ Great she’s not answering. Where the hell is she when I need her? I watch in frustration as everything fades away. I
Heather POV “We were hoping that when you are done with school you would move in with us until we graduate. Then the three of us could move back to Twin Moon together.” I just stared at Lucas, then turned and looked at Reed. Move in with them? I don’t know what to say to that. I have plans to live with them. I just never thought of doing it before they graduated. “We don’t think that we will be able to concentrate without you with us. You only have three weeks roughly after your birthday until you're done with classes. We want you to come live with us after that.” Reed said, reaching to take my hand. Looking between the two of them, I took a deep breath. “Let me think about it,” I said, not sure what else to say. “That is all we ask. We don’t want to push you. We just wanted you to know that this is something we were thinking about.” Lucas says, taking my other hand. I nodded and took back both of my hands and finished my food. Once we were finished, I made a pot of tea and head
Reed POV I was holding the cart still as Lucas loaded four cases of water into it. As Lucas set the last case in the cart, I felt a hand slide up the back of my coat and around my waist. I knew instantly that it wasn’t Heather. I tried to step away, but with the shelves on one side, Lucas in front of the cart, and a display right behind me, the only way I had to move was toward the person I wanted to get away from. Lucas stood up from the cart to see what was happening. He grabbed the front of the cart and pulled it forward. I didn’t hesitate to follow it. Spinning around to see who had the gall to touch me, so intimately I came to face one of the girls that had hit on us that first trip to the grocery store. Is she that desperate that all she does is hang out in the grocery store to find company? “Hey, cuties fancy meeting you here again.” She said in a high-pitched whiney voice that sounded more irritating now than it did the first day she approached us. “I see your girlfriend is
Heather POV Well, the last three and a half months have, for the most part, been uneventful. Paula and I were able to convince Cassy that we have all had embarrassing things happen to us. It comes with the over-the-top sex drive that kicks in when we finally find and confirm our mates. The New Year’s Eve party was a blast. Nolan and Cassy started their year as newly marked mates. I couldn’t have been happier for them. We were informed that Professor Brigs is no longer a Professor. He was no longer anything. After looking into some things, it was discovered that he had been doing a lot of questionable things with female students, both human and wolf. He would give them poor grades or say they didn’t hand in assignments, then ask for ‘favours’ to get the marks up. Bryce and his Dad think that is what he was attempting to do with me, but it backfired when I attacked him in the parking lot. I have been thinking a lot about what Reed and Lucas said about wanting me to move in with them w
Heather POV The whole ride to Reed and Lucas’ place I kept going over everything that Indigo had said. There must be a reason that Indigo is telling me this. The fact that she said that she was relaying the message leads me to believe that she was told by the Moon Goddess. I’ve known all along that there was more to the visions than just a warm-up to what was to come. I didn’t think Reed and Lucas would have a problem with marking me shortly after my first shift, but I was a little scared. We pulled into the parking lot at the guys' building, Reed turned off the truck, and we made our way into the apartment. “OK, spill. What have you been thinking about the whole ride here?” Lucas says as soon as the door closes behind him. “Yeah, even when you’re tired you’re not this quiet. Was there more to the visions that you’re not telling us?” Reed asks. Letting out a sigh. “Indigo told me something before we left that I need to discuss with the two of you.” I could the worry and... fear pla
