Reed POV Climbing out of the truck, I adjusted myself in my pants. Pants that now felt a little too tight. Damn, that was hot watching her at the stoplight as she tried not to give away what Lucas was doing to her. Then, when the little minx screamed in the link instead of out loud, I almost came. It was a good thing we weren’t going much further because I wasn’t sure how much longer I was going to be able to concentrate on driving with the smell of Heather’s arousal filling the cab of the truck. I licked my lips which still had the residue of her sweet nectar on them. She has been on the brink of orgasm off and on all afternoon. The thing is, I think it has been just as much torture for us as it has been for her. I know Rory is going nuts knowing that Indigo is getting stronger. ‘Mom is smart,’ Rory says. ‘Yes, I agree with you. Mom was smart to tell us to come here.’ And I will make sure that I thank Mom very much for telling us to get our asses here. As I walked around the front
Lucas POV The sound of Heather’s scream was almost enough to stop my heart. Then I was consumed by complete rage, as I saw the rogue trying to pull her out of the truck. I don’t know what I was more pissed about. The fact that someone was trying to take her again or the fact that I wasn't there again when she needed me. Dropping the bags that I was carrying, Reed and I took off across the parking lot releasing growls that could only be described as battle cries. Because that is what this is, a battle. A battle that Reed and I have been fighting since the day Heather showed up in our lives. A battle to have her with us. A battle to make her love us and a battle to keep her safe. I watched as Heather’s foot made contact with the rogue’s face. The sound of our growls causes the rogue to turn around, distracting him and giving Heather time to land a second blow. As the rogue stumbles backwards, Reed tackles him to the ground and I run to Heather, catching her as she loses her balance and
Heather POV As I swallowed my first mouthful, my phone rang. “It’s your Mom,” I said. “Hello.” “Heather, are you OK? How badly did that jackass hurt you?” Mona asks. “I’m fine, Mona. I have a small bruise on my knee, that's it. “Small bruise, my ass,” Reed mumbles. “It’s his entire handprint,” Lucas grumbles. I raise my finger to my lips, giving them a shhh motion as I widen my eyes and shake my head. “Reed and Lucas showed up before he hurt me too badly,” I said while looking at the boys hoping they would keep their mouths shut. “Heather,” I can tell by that tone that she heard what Reed and Lucas said. “Yes, Mona.” “I saw the pictures. Alpha Brian sent them to Shane and I agree with Reed, small bruise, my ass.” I looked at Reed, who had a goofy, I told you so grin on his face. “Mona I’m fine.” “OK, just take it easy for a couple of days and give it time to heal.” “Don’t worry Mom, we're going to pamper her like she deserves,” Lucas yells. “You better, or I’ll be comin
Reed POV As I started to wake up, I got the feeling that something was missing. I open my eyes to find only Lucas occupying the space. Heather is nowhere to be seen. Not wanting to panic, I sat up and listened for sounds of movement. I can tell by the smell coming from the bathroom that she has showered, and I can hear faint movement in the kitchen. Focusing on the bond we have, I try to assess how she is doing. I’m not picking up anything that would make me think that she is upset or stressed. Just knowing that makes me feel more relaxed. I lay back down and stared at the ceiling. I realize that I feel... rested. I think that was one of the better nights of sleep I have had in a while. I can’t say that I still don't feel a little stressed, but that is more because of what happened with that dickhead professor yesterday than anything. “I think she is feeling better by what I can sense,” Lucas says from beside me. “She feels happy. I was scared after what she said last night she wou
Heather POV We just sat there. After a few minutes, Lucas then pulled out his phone and called someone. I didn’t know who until Shane answered the phone. “Hey Lucas, is everything OK?” “Everything is fine. I just want to call you and tell you one of the things that Heather gave us for Christmas. It was the first thing she gave us this morning.” Lucas tells his Dad. “Son, I love you, but I don’t want to know what kind of sexual things you and your brother do with Heather. Because as far as I’m concerned, she is a sweet, innocent girl who will be a virgin even if she makes me a Grandfather multiple times over.” “Dad, that is not what I was going to tell you,” Lucas says in a huff. “Multiple?” I whispered “Was that Heather?” Shane asks. “Yes, Dad it was, and I’m here too,” Reed says. “Well, Merry Christmas to you all,” Shane says. “You heard me right, Heather, you’re going to stay sweet and innocent and not let my boys corrupt you.” “Yes, Shane, I will do my best,” I answer him w
Lucas POV We noticed that Heather had fallen asleep while we cleaned, so we did the prep work for supper. We could hear her chuckle in her sleep every once in a while. She looked so cute. Reed had covered her up with a throw that was there. “I don’t want to wake her, but I want to know what she thinks of the gifts we got her,” I whispered to Reed. The two of us were standing at the end of the couch just staring at her like a couple of creeps, but we couldn’t help it, she was just so beautiful. I didn’t know what she was dreaming about, but you could see the emotions playing across her face. Happy, sad, mad and just out-and-out pissed. I did notice that when she got pissed there seemed to be what I can only describe as electricity in the air. You know that feeling during a thunderstorm. We sat on the floor in front of the couch and started looking for something on TV to pass the time. I don’t know if it’s the fact that Reed and I have been go, go, go so much lately. Between the stuff w
Reed POV Oh Goddess, we did it again. We fucked up. She thinks that we're pushing her. That we are not thinking about what she wants. We just want to make sure that she knows that this is what we want when she is ready. It could take until we are fifty for her to be ready. We don’t care. But she will be the only woman that we marry. The ring wasn’t even something we were looking for. We already had the bracelet. But when we first got into town yesterday, we had stopped at the butcher shop on the main street to grab the steaks. As we were on the way back to the truck, we had passed a small jewelry store. Flashback “Yeah, that butcher shop that Nolan told us about is just up here,” Lucas says as I park the truck. Coming out of the butcher shop with our steaks in hand, we headed for the truck. This was our last stop before heading to Heather. I was about to step off the curb to go to the driver’s door but something shiny caught my eye. Both Lucas and I turned towards the shop at the sa
Possible Trauma Triggers Heather POV Reed slides off the couch to his knees and crawls towards me with Lucas at his side. Taking my hand in his, he glides his thumb over the ring. “Does this mean what I think it means?” Reed asks with hope in his voice. “I have some things I need to tell you first.” Lucas takes my hand from Reed and runs his finger over the ring. “There is nothing you could tell us that would make it, so we didn’t want this, Mo leannan.” He says as he brings my left hand to his lips and kisses my knuckles. “You say that now. Let’s get supper going, then while it cooks and we eat I will fill you in on what Indigo told me while I was sleeping. Then you can make up your mind if this is still what you want.” They both stand and reach a hand out to help me up. Since the guys had done most of the prep work earlier, it only took about fifteen minutes to have things ready for the oven. I put the kettle on for tea as I was standing waiting for it, Lucas walked over and c
