Chapter Forty-Nine

Gabe’s POV

“Gabe, you’re okay, don’t try to move.” Lottie’s gentle voice soothes my initial panic.

The last thing I remember was pain. So much pain I was sure I would never hear her sweet voice again.

I just had the weirdest dream, although, truth be told I’m not entirely sure if it was a dream or if I ascended to the heavens and returned. I have never experienced anything like it in all my life. No dream I have ever had has felt so real yet so surreal.

I remember being in the forest and finding Christian but he was stood absolutely still like he was frozen in time. The woman between the two of us turned and shouted in a language that sounds a lot like what Lottie uses when she is casting with her witch magic. She must have been a witch too. The look on her face disarmed me, it was one of remorse and guilt, whatever she was doing there was not of her own volition.
