Godiva PoV.

“I am human, but not as stupid as you think.”

If it weren't for Castor, who had told me that I should make my peace with Pollux, I wouldn't have cried to endure this kind of pain. I'd rather be with Castor than with an asshole like Pollux. I don't want to have a partner like him either.

What does it mean that fate made us a couple, but he himself broke it? I don't understand the concept of mates in their world to the fullest extent, but I do understand that destiny cannot be defied.

Why is it that only Castor can see through me? When I'm around Castor, I feel comfortable, but Pollux just makes me angry. Why are their traits so opposite, even though they are twins?

“I'm not taking you for a fool, Godiva. I just...” Pollux trailed off.

“I'm not going to meddle in your business, so just pretend I don't exist. You know what? I don't care about any of that. We'll just get married on paper; no touching, no commands, and no one will get hurt,” I pointed at the empty air in front

I walked behind Pollux. It's the first time in my life that I've been to a high-end restaurant like this. We were greeted by a guard at the entrance who bowed to Pollux.Did everyone in this town know Pollux? Everyone knows and respects him so much that it makes me shrink even more. When the guard saw me, he bowed to me as well.I reflexively followed his movements because I got carried away. With a quick movement, Pollux shrugged my shoulders and said, “There's no need to bow back. They all respect me, and everyone beside me will get it too. Straighten up!”"Welcome, Alpha Pollux. We have reserved a room for you,” said the guard.“We do not wish to be disturbed.”“Yes, Alpha Pollux.”I looked at every detail in the restaurant, from the décor to the patrons and even the staff. Every employee of this restaurant must have immediately bowed when we passed by. Stepping confidently, I kept smiling at all of them.We arrived at a closed room. One side featured a garden view bordered by glass

Pollux PoV.‘Pippo, come quickly!’I called out to Godiva, who was collapsing in my arms. Her body was oozing sweat and looked a mess, with wide rips on her clothes. Damn humans! She harmed my mate. I would make her feel the consequences. One cut from my claws wasn't enough to teach him a lesson.Pippo came with Loris, our warrior, who was also the restaurant manager. I nodded my head to Pippo to take care of the damn human lying unconscious behind me. I also asked Loris to find a coat or something to cover Godiva's exposed body.‘I'm ordering the details of this female human. Bring her to the apartment, and I'll take care of her myself later! Clean up this mess, and I need the car keys, Pippo.’I received the car keys from Pippo and waited for Loris. Seeing Godiva messed up like this really made me angry. I usually didn't care about anyone. Was it because of the imprint?I've never felt the pain I've been experiencing since this morning until now. Even with Benedetta, I felt fine whe

Castor didn't speak to me on the way home. He held me close with a flat expression on his face. I wondered if he might be thinking about Kayleigh.Pollux occasionally looked at both of us through the rearview mirror above his head. It was so quiet that I heard something vibrating next to me. Castor grabbed his cell phone from his coat pocket and glanced at the screen. He ignored the message on his phone and held me close again. Even though I was silent, I kept my eyes on Castor and Pollux, who were staring at each other. The attitude between the two of them made me curious. Many aspects of them remain enigmatic to me. Seeing the partial change in their body shape already gave me goosebumps, let alone if I saw the whole thing. It's possible that my heart will stop beating when I see the two of them in wolf form.“Oh God! Am I too desperate?”I unconsciously uttered the anxiety in my heart and made Castor straighten his seat. Castor looked at me without blinking but did not speak. That

I woke up to the sound of approaching trolley wheels. I saw Trisha pushing the breakfast trolley to the side of the bed closest to me. I looked at the wall clock, and it was already eight o'clock."Gosh, I overslept!”I pulled the blanket to cover my exposed chest and straightened my seat. I searched for Castor's whereabouts and wondered where he was now. My room was even cleaner and tidier than last night, which looked chaotic with clothes scattered on the carpet.“Good morning, Luna Godiva. Iride tells me that you like this kind of breakfast. Is this enough?”“Yes, Trisha. It is very pretty. Where is Alpha Castor?” “Alpha Castor is in the backyard riding. Would you like to catch up with him?”I was curious about Trisha's explanation. It was a little strange that werewolves were practicing horseback riding when they could have been preying on that animal. I shook my head to dismiss my exaggerated assumptions.I was led to the bathroom by Trisha. I saw the smoke from the bathtub and

Kayleigh PoV.Who exactly were they? I was really scared when the man scratched my cheek with his large claws. Was I hallucinating? Everything felt real to me because I felt a sting on my face. The man had hands like a monster. I didn't understand how Godiva could recognise them. What surprised me more was that Godiva looked fine.Despite the man's dazzling visuals, I cringed even more at the look on his face when he looked at me yesterday. Especially now, I was in an expensive apartment with one man who didn't say a word to me.My hands and feet were firmly bound with rope. My mouth was sealed with duct tape. I also couldn't move my body because of my bound and bent position on the bed.I gasped when a voice spoke from behind the door of the room I was in. I recognised that voice—heavy and deep. When the door opened, I saw the same man who had scarred my face.“You're lucky Godiva has forgiveness for you. If it were me, you'd already be the meal of a wild beast in the forest. Dealing

Godiva PoV.After my meeting with Kayleigh this afternoon, my heart felt more relieved. I had conveyed the information about myself, even though I did not expect Aunt Caylee to care about me. I need to be able to stand on my own after what happened that night.I also asked Castor to forgive Kayleigh. I didn't care what kind of forgiveness Castor would give to Kayleigh. I decided to have nothing more to do with her for my own good.It was time for me to focus on my own life. Being the partner of two non-human men might be beyond the reasoning of a mere mortal like me. For some people, this might be too extreme, but I didn't care. As long as I'm right and it doesn't bother anyone, then I will do it.I had faith in Castor. He's already proven it to me, but I couldn't put my trust in Pollux yet. I only saw reality in front of my eyes."Why don't you marry me in public, Alpha Castor?""We both have an agreement to share the task. I just move behind the scenes and organize everything while

"Let's talk somewhere else."I suggested somewhere other than this room. The last time the two of us were in a closed room, things ended badly, and I didn't want that to happen to me again. I need to build up my trust in him.I saw Pollux nod his head and walk out of the room. We went down the stairs and made our way down the front hall. The open night air is more suitable for a casual conversation, especially when Pollux leads me to one of the gazebos.I sat on the far side of the bench, and Pollux remained standing. I folded my arms across my chest, waiting for him to open the conversation first. After many minutes of silence, Pollux finally cleared his throat softly."I want to make a deal with you, Godiva."I raised one eyebrow. It sounded strange to me when Pollux said that line. He moved his eyes right and left, but still with a tense face.I could not guess what sort of deal he would offer, but I hoped it would not be to my detriment. I continued to watch him move irregularly i

“Just ignore me.”I resolved to ignore Pollux too. As long as I was beside him, I wouldn't let him get under my skin. For the next half hour, he was fully absorbed in the book he held, barely acknowledging my presence.Unfortunately, sleep wouldn't come for me. I had been unconscious for so long that my body was fully awake now, restless. I glanced at Pollux, who remained engrossed in his reading, his expression intense and focused.“Do you have something to say, Luna Godiva?” he asked without looking up.“What book are you reading?”Pollux turned the cover toward me, his brow raised slightly. I leaned in to read the worn title. *Venus and Adonis*. Shakespeare. Was he serious?“Shakespeare? Really?” I propped my chin up, suppressing a smile.“What’s wrong with that?” “Are you a poet or something?” I teased.“You don’t have to be a poet to read poetry,” he responded, his tone matter-of-fact.He had a point. You didn’t need to belong to something to appreciate it—just like how I didn’t

5 years later…Godiva’s POV"Care, stop bothering your sister."Mia’s crying made me pause as I chopped garlic. Care had just knocked down the Lego tower Mia had carefully built, grabbing my attention for a moment. While cooking, I glanced over at them now and then, seeing Mia intensely focused on rebuilding her Legos, her lips pursed.Care was the one who filled our home with laughter and life. His giggles whenever he teased his sister Mia—even to the point of tears—always distracted me from whatever I was doing. I could never be mad at that little boy, as just looking at him filled me with energy again.Meanwhile, Mia, my quiet little daughter, reminded me so much of myself. She’d always give in, tearing up when her brother picked on her, just as I had with my own cousin, Kayleigh. I was much older than Mia at the time, but even then, I was still a crybaby."I was just trying to help Mia straighten her blocks, Mom. Why are you blaming me?" Care’s brows furrowed, and I exhaled slowly

Pollux PoV.I read the copy of Benedetta’s bank statement. There was a large transfer into her account on the same day she died. I looked at another piece of paper Alvise had given me to check the sender’s name, which was written as an anagram.Alvise beamed as he showed me his phone screen. I frowned, still not understanding what was written there. My eyes shifted back and forth between him and the screen, waiting for a clear answer.“I don’t get it. Just tell me, Al—who is Virion? I’m too tired to think.”“Virgil Vissarion. I removed the last syllable of his first name and the first two syllables of his last name. You know I love doing this kind of thing, Pol.”Suddenly, everything clicked in my mind. My blood began rushing through my veins at full speed. My claws nearly tore through the car seat as I heard Alvise reveal more evidence of Virgil’s involvement.“I swear I’ll kill him when the time comes. I knew this had to be a setup. What do you think his motive is for all of this?”

Pollux PoV."You filthy slut!" The rage twisted through every nerve in my body, blinding me to anything else. How could she have thought I wouldn't be capable of ending her? Did she think I was weak? That I'd hesitate? The truth is, I had learned that mercy was a weakness I could no longer afford. No matter who it was, if they betrayed me, they had to face the consequences. She thought she could just run away. Foolish. After digging deeper into what happened at the nightclub, I had no choice but to hunt Benedetta down. Alvise had finally uncovered it-the truth she tried to bury. It was all her. The video, the lies, the humiliation she inflicted on Godiva and me-it was a carefully crafted betrayal. Benedetta, the woman I once loved, had destroyed everything. As I looked at her now, lying lifeless at my feet, I searched for some sense of remorse. A flicker of guilt, maybe. But there was nothing. Not even a hint of regret. Whatever bond we once shared had been severed long ago. The tende

Benedetta PoV.“Why here, Theo?” I asked, my voice betraying my discomfort. I didn’t want to meet him in a place like this—dimly lit, the air thick with a strange blend of turpentine and citrus. The walls were lined with red velvet, a deep blood-red that reminded me of a victim in a vampire’s embrace. Was he a vampire? I flipped the business card I had been holding for too long. The name "Virgil Vissarion" gleamed in gold, no title, just "investor." His tenor voice from our phone calls still echoed in my mind, sending chills down my spine. A vampire or not, I didn’t care. As long as he paid. The sound of footsteps approaching pulled my heart into a faster rhythm. My curiosity spiked as I turned to see a man, pale and six feet tall. His presence screamed wealth. “Apologies for keeping you waiting, Miss Darin.” I extended my hand. He grasped it, pulling it to his lips and kissing it. His old-world courtesy startled me—a gentleman from another time. I forced a smile and sa

Declan PoV.“Tell me everything.”I asked Godiva to be honest about her situation. I’d been keeping an eye on her ever since we met on the highway near the park. I clearly saw she was hurt, but her wounds healed on their own.She avoided my gaze, never making eye contact for long. I thought it was because she was trying to keep her distance, given that she was married. I looked up her life on social media and found out she was married to a notorious mafia boss in Burze. After learning that, I stepped back, not wanting to get involved with someone like Melucci. But I couldn’t get Godiva out of my mind. Maybe fate brought us back together, and I noticed she wasn’t wearing a wedding ring. From that moment, I found the courage to move forward. I tried to get closer to her by offering my apartment, hoping it would help us grow nearer. I succeeded. She’s here now, standing before me, looking awkward.“I know you’re married to Pollux Melucci. It’s been a week since I stayed at Declan’s apartment. Declan has occasionally offered to help, but I politely declined. He was so kind to us, despite his frequent refusals.I didn’t want to be a burden to him. Trisha always encouraged me to tell her what I was going through. It revealed vulnerability, and I didn’t want to appear too weak for pity.Of course, I didn’t share my thoughts with Declan. I simply told him that I still had savings for our daily needs. I said it with conviction so he wouldn’t think I was lying.“The food was delicious.” I popped the pasta into my mouth.“I saw that you had a big appetite, so I bought an extra portion.” Declan spins his fork on his plate.“Thank you, Declan. You’re so kind. I haven’t had a chance to repay you.”“You can repay me by accepting my invitation to dinner, Godiva.”I choked. Trisha quickly held out a bottle of water for me. Not wanting to take her happiness too seriously, I still had to keep my feelings for Declan a secret from her. Even though it’s all in the past, I didn’t think Trisha needed to know this.I slowly enter Declan’s fifth-floor apartment. We’re greeted by the smell of fresh cream-colored paint and an unfurnished room. Declan pulls back the curtains to reveal a clear view of the river below. For this moment, I feel relieved to have met Declan. He’d been a great help when we needed to save money while I couldn’t find a job. He gave us a place for free at first, but I knew enough not to take advantage of his kindness. We haggled over the price of renting this unit. Godiva PoV.“What is your reason, Trisha?”I looked deep into her eyes. I sympathized she had remained with me until this moment. Her loyalty was unwavering despite the sadness on Trisha’s face I couldn’t understand the reason behind.I sipped a warm latte at a cafe that I had never visited before. The dim light seemed to accompany us on our escape. There was only one waiter who was mopping the floor this morning.Trisha only drank mineral water, and I ordered lasagna to replenish her energy. I thought it would keep her energized after our run out of Burze town. We got extra fries from the cafe, which I only ate because Trisha refused the food.“I will always serve and accompany you, Luna Godiva.” That was the only answer I ever heard from her.I moistened my throat, then spoke, “Ah, about that—let’s compromise, not to mention my status after this. Castor PoV.“How could you do this to us, Pol?”I was lying on the muddy ground. The raindrops that dripped on my face seemed to add to the misery I was feeling right now. My knuckles are still bleeding after hitting Pollux’s face so hard. There was nothing more I could do or we could do. We searched all day for Godiva, but couldn’t find her. It was as if the earth had swallowed our Luna and covered her tracks with pouring rain.‘Forgive us, Moon Goddess. Pollux and I could not take good care of your daughter.’The exhaustion I was in at the moment had blocked my mind from thinking clearly. Both of us dueled fiercely until our bodies were equally exhausted. Neither of us won because Pollux didn’t fight me and chose to let me beat him up.As his brother, I felt so angry and sorry for him, but Blake burned my emotions to take them out to Pollux. For whatever reason, the gaping chasm opened by Pollux made me want to jump in and leave everything behind.“I’m sorry, Cas.”I was silent. Doz
