138. Unexpected Responsibility

William's pov -

The sterile hospital air feels heavy as I wait outside, my heart pounding in rhythm with the ticking clock on the wall. Anxiety coils in my chest, constricting with each passing second. What could be the reason for Julie's sudden distress? My mind races through possibilities, but none of them seem to fit the puzzle that's unfolding behind closed doors.

A doctor approaches, his smile both comforting and unsettling. "Mr. Stark, Julie is fine now. She had a scare, but the baby is safe. You can go in and see her."

Safe? My mind stutters to a halt. Baby? I feel as though the ground has shifted beneath me, and I'm struggling to regain my balance. Pregnant?
