Chapter Ninety-One: Fear

Steve said the long-awaited words to Matteo before giving the man on the floor another glance, and hope visibly flashed in his eyes, but Steve only frowned. It would seem that today as well he would also have a hard day cleaning.

Matteo took the envelope and tore it open. He squinted his eyes to read the tiny print until a smile caressed his lips.

“Ninety-nine point nine per cent.”

Suddenly, all the irritation that filled him evaporated like water on a heated metal.

"Douglas, I guess I'll be killing you painlessly. I just got some magnificent news."

He said as he pulled out his silenced gun and pointed it to the tied-up man.

The man’s eyes widened, and his face turned more erratic as he tried to scream past the white cloth sealing his mouth, but even as the bullet pierced through the man's head, the smile on Matteo didn’t waver.

"Get me a wedding planner; I hear spring weddings are the ‘in thing’."

Matteo said as he looked at his heated gun.

“And call the man watching Olivia.”
