Sawyer
“Well, well, well, somebody was out late last night,” whistled Christopher as I sauntered into my father’s home. He was not much older than me and had an early morning watch at the manor. He was stationed in the entryway in his suit with a gun.
Whereas Aurora lived in a high rise, we resided in an estate surrounded by land and even a pond. We didn’t need to be in the heart of the city to know what was going on. That’s what spies were for, and my brother roamed around enough, so we had a good idea. My family valued its privacy. “He’s waiting for you at the table.” He smirked. “You let a woman get ahold of you for sure. Dude, you wreak of sex and those hickeys. HA. Your old man will say it’s about time. Do tell me, was she any good?”
My first instinct was to kill this man. Not even destroy him with my fists. No, I want to extend my claws and rip his heart out for talking about Arorua in such an offensive manner. But I couldn’t. He was a guy casually talking about pussy, and that’s all I could let him think. “Yeah, man, I know I left satisfied.” He continued to laugh as I walked into the drawing-room and into the kitchen. My father was seated at the table in the breakfast nook. The sun beamed in over his shoulder onto his morning paper. With his glasses down on his nose and coffee in hand, he looked like any other father. I wish he was just an ordinary man and not the bastard who was about to destroy my life and the life of the woman I loved. Goddess, I didn’t just love her. I’d been in love with her for ages. No way the gods and goddesses would be so cruel and only give me one night with my angel.
There was no way she was marrying my psycho brother tonight. I had to stop it. I had to be careful, and I needed my father to be vague. The fewer words his command held, the more I could do to sneak around them. I need an exit strategy, a getaway, a hideout, and then the means to a new life. If we were going to be together and have any chance of happiness, we were going to have to get as far away from Illyria as possible. To hell with the monsters we called family. Minus her few friends, neither one of us had anything holding us here except for duty and honor. Luckily, I am not an honorable man. I would rather be dishonorable, alive, and happy than the alternative. The alternative is where heroes often lived and died. I didn’t seek death.
“Boy,” I looked over the top of his paper, “for someone who’s been out doing what you’ve been doing,” he gave a low chuckle, “you sure do look unhappy.”
I gave him a secretive smile, “Just tired. Not looking forward to my long ass day of work. I’d rather be where I was.” That was the truth. Every good lie is mostly the truth.
He gave me a pat on the back and chuckled, “Oh, I remember those tired days and ravenous nights. You’ll get used to it. And if you need to throw the woman out of your bed when you are done, that’s fine, to get your rest. Did you take one home from the club?”
I held back a cringe. The way those around me used and abused women made me sick. “No, it was actually quite the little rebel out past curfew, but then again, humans don’t have them in the South. I saw her on my way back and offered to walk her home. You know how one thing led to another...”
“Oh, trouble from the other side. I like the sound of that. It will be easy to keep her out of your way and conduct business. If you like her enough, you can keep her after you marry, and you will never run the risk of your wife meeting her. That really works out the best. You might be more like me than I thought.” He was happy and went back to reading his paper. I decided to take that moment to get some coffee from the table. I was going to be sick.
To make matters worst, Archer walked in. “So, baby brother. What did you spy my intended doing last night? Anything good or bad?” His eyes went dark. He’d never met her, had no intention of making her happy, but was possessive beyond measure.
“No, she had dinner and went to a play with her friends then went home to her father. Rather boring evening.”
“Good. I need a respectable wife who knows her place, and from what we know, Aurora will take orders beautifully. From the pictures I’ve seen, I can’t wait to command that hot body in the bedroom too. I bought all sorts of toys to play with. That fair skin will glow red with what I have planned.”
“Archer, make sure you don’t have your fun on an area that will show. I saw the wardrobe you sent. Scandalous by how her father dresses her. You can do whatever you want with your whores, but remember, she must look pristine. Old Oliver has never laid a hand on the girl, from what I know. She will be good.”
“And if she’s not?”
“Then you discipline, but only where she and you will know. She must appear happy to the people if we want this merger to work. But the sooner you get her pregnant, the better. Her father will have less claim when you have an heir.”
“Maybe I’ll get her pregnant tonight?”
“You’re strong and virile. It could happen. I should ask Oliver about her cycle. It is a full moon, after all.” Father sat in contemplation.
Without thinking, I asked, “She’s never met you. What if she doesn’t want to have sex tonight?”
They both looked at me in surprise and started laughing. “Oh, Sawyer, you can’t be that naive. I will be her husband. She doesn’t have a choice.” I just looked at them and tried not to show any emotions. “Alright, brother, you have a lot to learn about women. Don’t get too distracted by all the females tonight. I need you sharp and on guard. Though there can’t be any violence, we want to look for dissent. Before we use you after the ceremony, I need you to watch and see who seems friendly.”
“Sounds easy.” I shrugged. “What do you have planned for me after the ceremony?”
“You’ll find out. It’s a surprise. Now go meet with Beta and prepare for this evening. Until then, son.”
“Father.” I turned to go to my room. As much as I didn’t want to wash Aurora's delicate scent off of me, I had to. Stripping down, I couldn’t help but take pride when looking in the mirror. Her mark on my skin was perfection. I touched it and felt at ease. It didn’t look human, so I would be careful to cover my lie.
Despite what would happen, I was happy that I’d get to see my love in a few hours.
I have a deadline for another book, May 10th! After that, I will be able to update regularly. Thank you for your patience, and I hope you are enjoying the story! Things are about to get WILD!
Aurora When I walked downstairs, I was greeted by my father still at the great dining room table finishing his breakfast. He had a big smile and seemed too happy. Everything felt wrong. “My little princess, today you are a woman. You and your friends will spend the day at the spa before coming home and dressing for your party.” “Father, that sounds delightful. You know how my friends are like my sisters. Will you tell me any more about tonight’s surprise?” I kept my voice light and feigned excitement. He didn’t need to know that I was dreading whatever was going to happen. He chuckled,
AuroraWhen I arrived home, I had forty-five minutes to get dressed. Melly met me at the door, “It took me nearly twenty minutes to undo that dress. Better hurry if we are going to get it on in time.” She looked unhappy, but I don’t believe it was with me.We rushed into my room, which looked and smelled different. It was nothing but cleaning products sitting on my now bare dresser, table, and desk. “Hurry, and strip.” I looked at Melly as she motioned for me to move faster. When I was down to my bra and panties, she handed me two new garments that had been sitting on my bed. Both were white silk with lace. She turned to give me a moment of privacy to put on my barely-there panties. The bra was really a bustier. “Here, let me help you with that.” She fastened the hooks before grabbing my blush pink shoes. “These first, and then the monster of a dress,” she kneeled so I could step into my outrageously high heels. She
Aurora I was surprised when I made it down to the entry to see my father, my friends, and Mrs. Drake standing next to one of two limos. All but my father looked pale and sick. He smiled brightly at me. “My beautiful daughter. It is time. Tonight you will prove your worth and honor your family. You will honor your people.” He began to place the crystal keys over our necks. They guaranteed safe passage. The elite were the few that wore their keys en route to the Wonderland anymore since most didn’t fear for their safety as we did. We would leave them there before we departed the palace. All other guests would receive theirs upon entry. “Oh, please don’t do whatever it is. I’ve been a good daughter. Please don’t
Sawyer It was nearly eight when Aurora and her friends arrived, and I saw them through the upstairs window. Despite her smile, tension radiated through her body. She knew. My family came an hour ago. We circulated among the guests who had been ordered to arrive by seven. Everyone seemed to be in shock that the Hawthornes were there to celebrate Aurora Crane. We receded to our private wing before the birthday girl arrived. The spacious hotel rooms made Wonderland very accommodating for its guests. Everyone seemed uncomfortable. Aurora fiddled with her key as two of her friends helped carry her dress out of the limo. I knew she hated it, but she did look beautiful. I touched my suited shoulder in remembrance of the early hours I spent with her. The mark was nearly healed when I dressed, but it didn’t matter. I knew it was there.
Aurora“Those bastards plan to marry you off, have you and Archer consummate the union, and then let your wolf run in the hope of a quicker conception. They have the whole thing planned down to the second. Unbelievable.” Sawyer was barely containing his wolf.“I don’t want his child. I don’t want him.” I gave in to tears as I threw my arms around him. My friends rushed to where we were.“Oh, my,” I heard one of them squeak out. “Aurora, what are you doing?” Mona seemed horrified. We were looking around, “I’m don’t even want to know how this happened, but we need to get out of sight. I’m sure someone will come to check on us so quickly to the rooms.”“This is a bit of a complication,” Mrs. Drake said with a tiny smile. “Hurry up, children.”I couldn’t walk. Sawyer picked me up and carried me to the bridal suite where a high collare
Aurora Sawyer stared at me like he wasn’t sure if he should fall at my feet and worship me or have me committed. “I need to be flustered and delirious. And that’s exactly what you made me feel. This time, you bite me. You claim my flesh and let me feel the burn.” Holding up the white dress, I smiled. “This ridiculous thing covers every inch of my skin. No one will see the mark until Archer pries this dress off me. Then I’m going to fight him. He won’t expect it.” “He gets sloppy when he rages. I hate putting you in this position. When he smells your arousal, he will barely be able to hold it together.” “It’s going to happen whether we like it or not, please, give me what I need. They will expect your scent around me since you’ve been my guard tonight, so they won’t pay close attention as to where it is.” I gave a wicked smile that I didn’t know I was capable of. “I can’t deny you, my princess.” “Thank the goddess.” In a blink, h
Sawyer Winnowing had never been that instinctual. I was surprised. I only wished I could take us far away. I was trying to calculate where we could go and how far I could carry her in the back of my mind. At most, if I could get us out of the hotel and into the truck, I stashed by the highway, but she’d have to take over. I don’t know how long I’d be out carrying her with me. It seems we both can do a little faerie magic, but it shouldn’t be possible. I dressed in the shadows as I stood in the entryway outside the girls’ new room. I was solid by the time my father and brother came walking by. Not even stopping to talk, father yelled, “Is it true?” before they marched into Aurora’s room.&n
Aurora Sawyer was silent as he kept his eyes on me. I swear I could hear him in my mind. It was nothing but affirmations of his love and praise. He also cursed himself for being useless. He hated feeling powerless, and it was a new sensation for him. Me, I’d spent most of my life in fear and taking orders. I put on a brave face as Archer took me into the room. I couldn’t stop the shiver of fear. My body was screaming for the man on the other side of the door and was repulsed at the one standing in front of me. “Alright, Wife, let’s get this taken care of.” “Aurora.” “What did you say?” his eyes went cold. &nbs
