Chapter 4 Dispute With Lisandra

Selena's POV

On the way home, I feel like a walking corpse among the various pedestrians. There were housewives rushing home to cook dinner, fathers waiting to pick up their children from kindergarten, cheerful girls with flowers in hand at the bus stop, and a family of three taking a post-dinner stroll.

Like any ordinary person, they may have their own troubles, but it's undeniable that they all hold expectations for life, believing in a brighter future.

Yet, my own life feels almost at its end—broken family, wrong lover, and now even my own life nearly extinguished.

Perhaps the moon goddess sensed my grief because suddenly, with a howling wind, raindrops the size of beans poured down.

The icy rain mixed with the scent of damp earth slapped hard against my body, but no matter how cold the rain was, it couldn't match the coldness in my heart. I walked alone down the street, letting the rain soak me, then made my way back home in a daze.

As I reached the door, I heard a low moan coming from my room. "Xander, who gives you more pleasure, me or that woman who doesn't know how to please a man?"

Accompanied by occasional laughter, Lisandra's shrill voice felt like a dagger stabbing into my heart.

Surprisingly, Xander didn't respond to Lisandra's words but subconsciously quickened his movements, further exciting Lisandra.

She let out occasional wails, trying to match Xander's relentless advances. In the past, I would have waited until they were done before entering, all for the sake of my pride. But now, I couldn't care less. Without hesitation, I pushed the door open forcefully.

Thud! The door banged open, startling the two mid-action.

Seeing me, Xander frowned lightly, then got up from Lisandra's body, seemingly unscathed.

"Why are you back so late from a simple trip to the store? Not out trying to find another man, are you?" Xander said casually, wiping sweat off himself, a mocking smile on his lips.

"Xander, you might as well get dressed. There's nothing to boast about," I replied calmly, rainwater from my soaked clothes dripping onto the floor, making a somewhat annoying sound.

"Selena, I'm so sorry I didn't give you a heads up. I just wanted Xander to keep me company, and I didn't realize it would be..."

Lisandra dressed slowly, letting out a hopeless laugh. But the sight in front of me made it clear that this was nothing more than a pretext for her to do nothing but try to humiliate me to my face.

"Did you wander into the wrong section of the hospital and cure your brain too?"

As Xander spoke, he put on a white shirt. Perhaps because the sweat hadn't been wiped off, his solid abs could still be vaguely seen through the shirt.

"Remember your place, and don't spout such nonsense like this, or sooner or later, I'll reject you and make you a rogue."

Xander's handsome face was as cold as ice, his dark eyes filled with endless hatred as he looked at me.

"Alright, now go upstairs, wash your filthy body, and come back down later to give Lisandra a blood transfusion."

Xander's tone was cold and decisive, allowing no room for negotiation.

"I'm sorry, Selena, but I'm going to have to ask you to help treat me again."

Lisandra flashed a fake smile at me, a pretentious grin that made me want to vomit.

"I refuse."

The alarming lines of data from the test reports flooded my mind; my body had been messed up by this strong-armed request from Xander. Things had escalated to this point, and I finally gathered the courage to refuse.

At that moment, I didn't argue or plead; I just looked at Xander quietly and expressed my will.

"Selena! How can you talk like that? If Xander hadn't been kind enough to take you in, you, who was from a weak pack, would have likely turned into a rogue."

Lisandra's expression seemed as if she had heard shocking news, her eyes widened in extreme disbelief.

"Even if you don't care about yourself, think about your father. As far as I know, he's very proud to be related to the Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack."

"Shut up and don't mention that man in my presence."

Just as Lisandra was getting carried away, Xander interrupted her abruptly with a cold expression.

Xander's reaction surprised me a bit, but I didn't show my emotions. I just looked at Xander coldly, waiting for his next words.

"What makes you dare to refuse the order of me, your Alpha?"

Xander narrowed his eyes and walked slowly toward me. As he approached, I could clearly feel the biting aura of menace emanating from him.

"Because I don't want to, that's all."

As soon as the words left my mouth, Xander took a sharp step forward, his tall figure instantly enveloping me, his long fingers pinching my chin, his voice low, "Say that again?"

"I... don't... want to."

Watching Xander's actions, my heart panicked a little, and the wolf inside me curled up into a ball out of fear, but I forced myself to repeat it. With every word I spoke, the pressure of Xander's hands slowly increased.

It felt like my throat was imprisoned by steel, and my breathing became heavier and heavier. Gradually, it was as if I could taste a hint of blood.

My hands slapped Xander haphazardly, my face turned iron blue, and my consciousness began to blur. Just as I was about to run out of breath, Xander violently let go, and I fell heavily to the ground.

Xander's mouth lifted in a mocking smile. "Well, put away your pathetic struggles and obediently go give Lisandra a blood transfusion." With a flick of his hand, the two werewolf guards at the door quickly came over and dragged me toward the healing room.

My entire body, weak as it was, collapsed again as I tried to stand up.

"Don't play dead here," Xander said with disdain as he glanced at me.

I wanted to struggle a little more, but my body was out of control. Exhausted, I could only muster the strength to keep my head held high as I looked at Xander. My resentful gaze lingered on him briefly before I lost consciousness completely.

As I collapsed, I saw Xander's brow slightly furrowed.
