Can’t wait to marry the most beautiful woman…

Victor

“Why are you helping me out of nowhere, Victor? Have we met before? I mean, maybe there was a time that I stood you up and now you want revenge?”

“What? You’ve suddenly lost your voice now? Come on, just tell me the truth? What’s your real motive behind all this you’re doing?”

“Why are you helping me, Victor??”

“Can you please come in and let’s talk about this?” I finally found my voice after minutes of just staring blankly at her.

She glared at me for some seconds before dashing past me. I locked the door and then went to join her.

She was too angry to sit so she stood up, her hands gripping her waist tightly while she glared at me.

“You need to relax, Freya. You already know why I’m doing this, I have no other motive.”

She smirked and then retorted, “ohh really, why didn’t you tell me about Stacey then? Or that we had a blind date where I stood you up and you wanted revenge? Is that what this is about? Revenge?”

“Of course yes! We are doing this to revenge for you! About not telling you about my sister, there was no reason to. She’s not involved in our deal so should I tell you about her. How did you even know her?”

“Where is this coming from, Freya? Do you know Stacey?” I asked while she finally let down her guard a bit.

She released her hands and then leaned against the chair.

“Well, I ran into her yesterday at the store. She’s my friend since high school, we were cheerleaders then but lost touch after then,”

“Ohhhh… so you guys started talking and…”

“And I told her everything. That was when I found out you two are siblings and that Sonia had tried to blackmail you in the past.” She let out.

“Well, she didn’t try to. She did blackmail me. She and Dennis. I caved and paid them thousands of dollars to keep things under the wraps. It was sometime after then that my dad told me about a lady he wanted me to go on a date on. It was a blind date so I didn’t know how beautiful you were until you stood me up and I did my findings…” I paused to observe the blush build up on her face, though she tried to hide it.

“My thirst for revenge vanished and I became more concerned about you. You seemed innocent and I just couldn’t bear to see you taken advantage of by the same people you were trying to protect.” She finally sat down at this point, and I sat opposite her too.

“Are you crying?” I asked

“Never! Not anymore… I’ve shed enough tears… I’m not going to shed a single tear over him again.”

“It’s clear that Sonia and Dennis desperately want to be together, and that’s why I’m going to break them. I will pull them apart and make them fall together. They will never have peace and money that they plan to take from me.” She said firmly while I held out my hand to her.

“I’m in, you’re in??” I asked while she chuckled and placed her hand on mine.

“Hungry? Let me take you out on a lunch date.” I asked while she shook her head.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. I don’t want Sonia or Dennis catching whiff of our plan, and that’s likely to happen if we go out together. One of them might see us and start putting the pieces together.” She explained and I somehow reasoned with her. I understood her fear.

“So what if they see us? We will just tell them we are business partners. They can’t possibly doubt that, can they?” I countered.

“Really? You want us to lie?” She teased while I laughed.

“Ohh really… that’s what you’re worried about? What harm can a little lie do? And besides, it’s not a lie. We are business partners.” I affirmed while she tilted her head sideways and we both burst into laughter.

“Okay then, that makes it better now.” She replied.

I hurried inside and was soon back fully dressed. I caught her sneaking glances at me and it made me smile. I like that I had some sort of effect on her.

“Shall we?” I asked and then proceeded to hold her hand but she quickly pulled back and her face was harsh too.

“I’m sorry…” I quickly apologized while she led the way out of the house.

We got in the car and throughout the drive, I couldn’t push off the feeling that I might have crossed a line and now changed her opinion about me.

“Are you still mad at me?” I asked just as I pulled into the lounge.

“Mad at you? Of course not! I was even thinking you’re mad at me since you’ve been silent all through the drive. I’m sorry I pushed you away like that, I overreacted.” She retorted.

“No, you didn’t. You were setting boundaries. You’re a good woman, and I’m glad to have known you.” I affirmed.

We got inside and after showing my card at the front desk, we were ushered to the VIP space.

“What do you want to have?” I asked as we both picked up the menu and started scanning through.

“Do you trust me?” She smiled and nodded.

“I know their best food and you’re going to enjoy it.” I pressed the red button and a waiter was with us in a minute.

“Can I get two of my specials? And one of your finest wines, the most expensive too,” the waiter left immediately while I turned back to Freya.

“So want to tell me more about you?” I asked.

“Uhmm what else is there to tell you? You already know everything, if not more than myself even.” She cut in sharply while I chuckled.

“That’s not true. I can’t know you more than yourself. Just like you can’t know me more than I do. There will always be things and parts that are hidden away… in deepest parts of us.”

“And don’t you think that anything that’s hidden that deep shouldn’t be revealed to the public.” She countered while I laughed out loud.

“You don’t say! So you mean I’m public? Is that what I am to you? Another man in your world?” I teased.

“Victor, you’re the only man in my life after my dad. Dennis used to be that man but now, he’s far gone. You know, I’ve tried so hard to understand all this. Why Dennis chose to steal my money and betray me like this? I mean, I wasn’t stingy to him. I am not stingy. I made sure he had every single thing he wanted. Even the ones he didn’t ask for, I gave him. So for him to think of this evil… it’s just too disheartening.” She let out pitifully.

“You shouldn’t get yourself all worked up over it. That’s just the kind of person he is. He doesn’t matter if you give them your life, they will still hurt and betray you. You should be happy that you found out on time. Dennis is a desperate fraud who would go extra lengths just to have his way.” I tried to comfort her.

“I know right… he’s not going to go scot free this time. I will make sure I deal with him so much that he won’t be able to ever think of doing this to another person.” She said emphatically.

“That’s the spirit…” I let out just in time for the waiter and two other guys to push in our food.

They stopped the trolley beside our table, and one after the other, they set the trays. I looked at Freya after they left, and saw the light in her eyes.

“You like?” I asked while she furrowed her brows.

“Like? I love it! This is like a feast… how many times have you been here?” She teased.

“Too many times than I can count…”

We continued our conversation while eating, and I made sure not to allow her go into the Dennis and Sonia talk again. She told me more about herself and I did too.

“You’re full already? You didn’t even finish the plate? And that’s the only plate you served, Freya!” I let out after she pushed her plate forward.

“You can’t possibly think I would eat the whole food on this table. I would pass out right here!” We both burst into laughter at this point.

I poured us wine and then shared a toast.

“To teaching Dennis and Sonia a hard lesson!!!” Freya exclaimed while I chuckled.

“To marrying the most beautiful woman in the world.” I let out while she blushed.

She downed her wine at a go which surprised me a bit.

“Don’t be surprised. I love good wines. I should stop here though, before I lose myself and get drunk.” She chimed in when she saw the look on my face.

We talked for a while more before we finally called it a night. I called it a night. I saw the reluctance in on her face as the night wore on, she didn’t want to go home and I understood her feelings. I was enjoying her company too so I just let her take her time until it was really late.

“Thanks for today. I had a great time.” She chimed in while my driver parked her car next to us.

Since we came in my car, I had my driver bring her car to the lounge.

“Are you are you will be fine by yourself? I can have the driver take you home, you know?” I asked.

“There’s no need. I’ll be fine.” I wasn’t too convinced with her tone so I asked my driver to take her home. She was hesitant at first, and I had to insist before she agreed…
