In the moving car, Logan sat at the back with the unconscious woman lying on the seat with her head resting on his lap.
He was lost in thoughts as he stared at her face. There was a long faint tear mark on her face and she looked pale. Her red lips were chapped. He wondered what she must have gone through to be in this current state. His hand unconsciously reached out to fondle her cheek. All in one day, he received the shocking news that she suddenly disappeared, his dream occurred again and he made a shocking realization- she turned out to be the mate he had been looking forward to meeting. He wondered how it was possible. She had a mate and this wasn't the first time they were meeting. Was this the reason for the change in the dream? How was it possible that Aurora Quinn was in the hands of assassins on her special day? The Aurora Quinn he knew was no ordinary woman. She was different from other women he had met. She was skilled, intelligent and smart. How did she fall into the hands of assassins? Their first meeting was on her eighteenth birthday, he attended with his parents. He had come out to take a break from all the activities going on at the party and surprisingly met Aurora outside. They had talked briefly and he had quite a good impression of the young lady. When he became Alpha, he met her a few times during his business trips to her pack. The last time he saw her was three months ago. They collaborated on a huge project between both packs. And since then, he hasn't visited her pack because he has been busy. A few days ago, he had received an invitation from her. She wanted him to attend her coronation. Although he had alot scheduled for today, he was willing to clear up his morning schedule to attend the coronation. Only to be told by her family that she ran away, leaving him to wonder why she would run away from the destiny she was prepared for. He had his suspicions about her disappearance because of her family's behavior at the coronation, especially her mate and her sister. He tried reaching her but to no avail. He ordered his team to search for her while he attended an urgent business trip. Only to unexpectedly find her himself. This simply means that his suspicions were right afterall. In thought, he didn't realize that the car had already arrived at the packhouse and was parked until he saw the driver open the door and attempt to carry her. “Don't touch her. I'll take her in myself!" He growled with a frown. “I’m sorry Alpha." The driver apologised. Logan opened the car door and picked her up in his arms, taking long strides into the packhouse. “What happened to her?" His beta, Dylan who was standing at the door asked. “Has the doctor arrived?” Logan asked as he continued walking with her in his arms. "Yes. Second floor, third room.” Dylan replied. Logan ran up the stairs and located the room. He ignored the doctor's greeting as he laid her on the king-sized bed in the middle of the room. - - - - - - - - “I found a high amount of sedative in her body. The sedative used is a potent herb meant to poison someone, not to kill them, but to weaken them. She also showed signs of rejection. I guess she was rejected by her mate recently.” The doctor explained. Logan stood with his hands tucked in his pockets as he fixed his eyes on the pale woman lying on his bed. This sudden information was hard to digest. Yes, he knew that the circumstances surrounding her abduction weren't simple. But he didn't expect that she was made to pass through all that and was supposed to be killed. Aurora Quinn isn't an easy prey anyone could get. So how did she get caught up in this mess on her special day? "When will she wake up?” He asked the doctor. "I've given her the necessary treatment to curb the effect of the drugs used on her. She should wake up soon.” He felt relieved. He wanted her to wake up as soon as possible so he could speak to her and get answers to his questions. Till then, he would keep her safe in his pack. "Thank you. No one else should know about this…” He said, threat audible in his tone. "Yes yes, Alpha. I'll keep my mouth shut. It's part of my duty as a doctor.” the doctor quickly answered and bowed in respect. "Good. You can leave.” After the doctor left, Dylan walked in. He stood by his side and glanced at the woman on the bed. “You still haven't answered my question, Logan.” Logan turned around and walked out of the room. He went down the stairs to the bar and Dylan followed closely. Both of them sat down. Dylan took a bottle of wine from the shelf at the bar and opened it. He poured wine into two glasses and handed one glass to Logan. He picked up the other glass and sat down. “How did you find her?” he asked, taking a sip from his glass. Logan laid back comfortably, twirling the wine glass between his long and refined fingers. “On my way back. She was in the hands of hired assassins.” He replied. Dylan paused and creased his forehead. "hired assassins? She was reported to have run away from her coronation this morning. Was she abducted on her way?” "I don't think so. A potent sedative was found in her body and she showed signs of rejection.” Dylan laid back in the chair and stroked his chin in thought. “They lied. She didn't run away afterall. It was all planned and I suspect that cunning Castro. He has reasons to eliminate her.” “He might not be the only one…” Logan replied in thought. “Take those men to the base. Make them spill everything they know." He added. “I'll make the necessary calls for the transfer. But tell me…” he trailed off with a knowing smile. Logan raised his eyebrows and replied, “What?" “I saw the way you brought her in. You didn't even let anyone apart from the doctor touch her. I know that you are acquainted with her and that might be the reason you saved her. But you don't have to be so concerned about her. I mean you've never been this disturbed about anything or anyone. What's up with her?” "When did you become nosy, Lan?” He replied, curling his lips upwards and twirling his wine glass. “That's not the answer to my question. Don't try to evade it.” "Mind your damn business and go do what I instructed you to." “Your business is my business. Remember that I'm your friend and beta." He said with a smug smile. “Well, she's my mate." Dylan widened his eyes in shock. “You must be joking!"3 Days Later. Logan stood in front of the king-sized bed, on which she lay down, motionless. After observing her for a moment, he turned to the doctor in white coat and gold-framed glasses. He looked down at the doctor and pursed his lips, waiting for an explanation of some sort. "Alp… Alpha I don't know what happened. She's supposed to wake up by now. She's been responding positively to treatment and her health has improved alot. The reason why she isn't waking up may be related to her mental health. She might be having a mental barrier that is stopping her from waking up. Especially after the rejection.” He explained, shaking and sweating profusely. “Is that so?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. “Ye… yes. Let's wait a little more. I'm sure she will wake up.” He assured. Logan nodded and dismissed him with a wave of his hand. At that moment, his phone rang. He picked it up and held it to his ear. “Alpha, the men are ready to speak.” “Alright. Bring them to my study.
"Please… please… don't kill me…" She mumbled, with a hoarse voice from crying, tears flowing down the corners of her eyes. Her clothes were soaked with sweat as her body involuntarily wiggled from side to side, struggling to put an end to this nightmare by waking up. She endured brutal torture from both of them. No matter how much she pleaded with them, they wouldn't let her go. Her endless cries for help were in vain. No one came to save her. She was at their mercy. Just when the pocket knife was embedded in her body, her eyes widened in shock.“Noooo!" Her eyes flew open. Almost immediately, she sat up. With widened eyes, she struggled to catch her breath. When she could finally breathe properly, she shifted towards the bed frame and laid her back on it. She looked down at herself and the bed. Then she scanned the room skeptically. Once again, the room she was in was different. And she was in a different cloth: a loose pink gown. She flexed her body to check for the fatigue an
The cries of the women present could be heard in the open field of Lunarmoon's palace. Most of the pack's members gathered to mourn their princess, whose body was brought back after she went missing on the day of her coronation. "The princess was the nicest person I know. Why did she have to die?" One woman said, sobbing. "Yes, she was so kind and humble." Another woman agreed.Aurora stood behind them quietly. She covered her eyes with big black glasses and wore a facemask to cover the part of her face that the glasses didn't cover. Her eyes were fixed on the raised platform where the body was laid. Then it moved to the people standing right in front of it. And she narrowed her eyes, shooting daggers at the traitors. Aurelia and Castro were in black clothes. Aurelia's face was completely red from crying. Her hair was undone, she wasn't wearing makeup, and it looked like she didn't put m
Repeated sighs escaped her lips as she tossed and turned restlessly. Earlier, after freshening up, she had dinner and went upstairs to sleep as she was very tired from the day's activities. Despite feeling fatigued, she couldn't close her eyes to sleep because each time she tried to, several images that happened in real life and her nightmares would flash through her eyes. It felt like she was reliving those hurtful memories. And she couldn't stop thinking about everything she witnessed when she attended her funeral. Just when she felt overwhelmed, she sat up and climbed out of bed. She slipped into her comfy footwear and walked out of the room, heading downstairs. After descending the staircase, she went to the kitchen. She paused at the door and scrutinized the surroundings with the help of the light bulbs before walking in. “Mmmm…" Aurora let out a low and weak moan as she slowly lifted her eyelids and squinted to adjust her eyes to the sudden darkness that came into view. As soon as her eyes focused on the low light, she was facing a high ceiling. She frowned slightly and snapped her head to the window which had dim night light sipping through it and her frown deepened. As she briefly scrutinized the room with the help of the night light from the window, her eyes narrowed and her heart skipped several beats.
