"Yea...wolf... mate bond remember?" I rolled my eyes at them as I stood up.

Eathen looked at Kal and Nicholi like they were mind linking a conversation, it was annoying to say the least that I was being left out.

"Wanna share with the class boys?" I raised my eyebrow at them but they all just stared at me for a minute and I seen Kal wince, which I assumed was in response to my now raging anger. I was angrier than I had ever been, he wouldn't really let me train, and now he was having private conversations after he specifically forbid it before.

"No? Great!" I was full on yelling at them as I started to stomp off, "Only wants to tell me sometimes, so much for not keeping anything from me, some fucking rules Kal."

Kal’s voice boomed behind me, but in a tentative way, "Octavia stop!"

I twirled on my heel around at them, I may have been too bold, but I didn't care at this point, all I could see was red and I was surprised Echo hadn't shifte

“Can you guys not feel other people’s emotions???" My heart was racing as I stared at Kal waiting on a reaction."Umm...." Nicholi interrupted, "I feel violated," he smirked at me as Eathen shoved him for making jokes.Kal stroked his hand down my face, drawing my attention back to him, his voice was deep but soft again, "I can feel the sparks,” he cupped my face with his hand, “just like I can feel your body react to mine.”He adjusted the ice on my ribs and I winced a little, “I can feel when you're in pain, like when you cracked a rib hitting the mat, or when your anger was painful to you.” I could feel his sadness wash over me gently as my own guilt grew, he was protecting me when I didn’t realize I fractured something, not hindering my training because of his emotions. He lifted my chin so I was looking at him again, his voice was softer than I had ever heard it be, his words came out cautiously like th

Kal paused briefly to look at me, my eyes were filled with tears for him and what he went through, then continued.“I will never tell another person, and it will never get out. No one but you and I know the real truth my love, and that is that I don’t think it was me that killed the rogue. Someone else had to have been there, to have helped in passing, but I will never know. It’s what my legacy is built on, what my people believe, and what makes them believe in me as their protector - along with events that came about as I aged, that corroborated that story." His voice was steady, but I could tell he was nervous, embarrassed slightly, even with the conviction of his choices mirroring his words. He took my face in his hand, “That story was the only secret I had to share with you, and it doesn’t change how you feel about me, does it?” His voice was sure, like he was making a point, but I could tell he was apprehensive for my answ

Kal covered my mouth with his hands and my heart sank, I knew this would be too much for him. I just stared into his eyes as he tried to process what I told him, my lungs felt as though they couldn't inhale as I waited to hear his voice and my tears streamed down, and over his hand against my lips. His chest rumbled beneath me and I could see Saber’s bright green hue’s trying to swirl in as Kal’s voice somehow came out steady, grounding me to a state of peace.“I will never leave you, and you will never be without me." His first words made me instantly cry harder in relief, his voice was so sure that I listened attentively for more."We will figure this out together and get through it together. We may have been drawn together by the mate bond, but that’s because we complete each other,” his face tensed, “even IF anything were to happen to that mate bond, you were still meant for me.”He lifted me up so that

My heat.I didn’t pay much attention to the subject growing up, but it was always described to us as something that happens after you’ve been marked. My mom told me it varies all the time, sometimes days, sometimes up to a year, but it drives a female mad with lust, unable to control who she lets mate with her.It could even draw unmated males to her if her own mate is no where near, though it was meant to ensure an heir is produced, the heat lowering her inhibitions so that the mating process would be completed if for some reason it hadn't been, allowing the bond to take full effect. In the end, it essentially forced her hand into the bond and had always seemed barbaric to me, but it's why most Alpha's would mark their mates immediately regardless of consent.“She won’t be away from my side Eathen,” Kal seemed agitated at the thought. It was like Eathen expected his response, and it wasn't the real reason he was feeling cauti

Elle sat there piecing it all together, she wasn’t there and wasn’t privy to the conversation the boys had with me the night before, but she seemed to be taking it better than them.“Elle and Nicholi will stay here,” Kal announced as he smirked, “you two have a Luna Ceremony to plan for when we return, in four days.”Elle was clapping her hands together and squealing as I snapped my head in Kal’s direction, was he serious? That wasn’t much time at all, and we would need that just to travel. He smiled as he squeezed my hand, “We are only spending two days travelling, they will be long, but doable, and we only need one day there,” his voice tried to soothe me but his tone was serious, “we can’t be gone long Octavia, just enough time for you to find your necklace, it’s risky to leave at all.” I wish we had more time to stay and visit but I understood and nodded. When Kal had

Only a few minutes later I spotted a car parked on the side of the road, Theo!My heart started racing as we pulled closer, he was standing out there waiting for me and I couldn't contain myself as the SUV rolled to a stop and his silver eyes practically pulled me from the car.I don't even think the car had completely stopped when I ran from it and thumped straight into his hard chest, swooping myself under his arms, squeezing him as tight as I could. The tears streamed down my face as I took in his deep citrus scent, but his tense arms pulled me back by my shoulders as a low rumble from Kal erupted behind us that I ignored. He was searching my face and I realized he thought I was in trouble, he hadn't seen me since Kal took me home and he was taking in my marked neck and my tears with caution."I'm fine Theo, really, I just missed you... hug me back!" My voice rang out in frustration.I was annoyed at his resistance, but he instantly brought me i

I turned to meet Eathen’s smirk, as I took Kal’s arm, and we made our way to the table.Theo sat across from Kal, I took my seat to Kal's left but was surprised when Eathen sat to my left. Theo's silver eyes weren't straying from Kal, but Troy's face flashed a bit of confusion.Troy would have sat two seats to Theo's left, placing him across from our Gamma, if we had brought him. He paused briefly before Theo likely linked him, and told him where to sit, which was across from Eathen.I found it hard not to say anything as my parents sat at the ends of the table. Eathen's amusement was light in the air, and I was trying to piece it together, because this was clearly another attempt at having the upper hand, which was uncalled for here. Sitting this way would show them my hierarchy, without having to say it out loud, as we were all seated on the same side of Kal, and Eathen was after me. But why was Eathen amused?Kal's voice broke t

Theo wouldn't be so easily convinced, he knew that we grew up learning how to put on a brave face, and that my mother had been preparing me to be someone's Luna just in case. He watched Kal's movements, and mine, but I knew that Kal was watching him as well, and Theo was only seeing what Kal wanted him to, not there was anything to hide."I hope you don't mind Octavia, but we've placed your rooms a few floors above your old room, it's where all the visiting Alpha's usually stay with their company," Theo's voice rang out."That's fine Theo," I smiled, "I'll have to slip down to my old room tomorrow though and grab a few things that got left behind."He nodded, "Troy will show you up, you're welcome to walk around freely, and there will be breakfast ready in the morning so feel free to go down and help yourselves," he winked at me."Theo, are you serious?!" I shouted a little too enthusiastically happy, startling everyone else as I anxiously awaited h

MYLO “Isabelle will be stripped of her powers until she is determined to not be a threat anymore,” Xander informed us. The room had been cleared of everyone but the royals, myself, Dahlia and Nora. “We have someone in Shadow Forest who can accomplish it and make sure it’s maintained,” Brianna said as she assessed me, “your father informed us that you would like the right to end Marcus’s life. Are you positive that you want to bear that burden, that you have thought about having to tell Nora in the future?” “We have,” I glanced down at Dahlia and Nora. “It’s my job to protect them, no one else should have to burden themselves with Marcus’s death. Nora will understand, if she cares to ask, that it was her life or his.” “With me then,” Xander motioned for me to fol

BRIANNA I was hesitant to keep my heirs in here for this, but the boys assured me they needed to see. Orion explained the nature of what was about to happen to Mylo and Dahlia who have both chosen to join us. “I’d like my mate to join me,” Marie’s timid voice rang out, “but if that’s not something you’d prefer, I would still like to remain.” Seeing as though Octavia would just fill him in later anyways, I gave her a nod of approval and Timber’s Beta was charged with keeping Nora safe in the next room. When Marcus came into the room, there was a shift in energy, as was to be expected, but when Terran entered the room, Dixon became visibly stiff. I knew Dixon had issues surrounding Fae, but to see such a strong immediate reaction was surprising. I guess he didn’t know that Marie’s mate was Fae until now.

BRIANNA Alaric may have felt like Nixon’s outburst was harmless, but anytime he let his powers slip was dangerous. I wanted to talk to him about it, not that it would change anything, but I also felt like I had talked about it with him until I was blue in the face. Nixon wanted to let his powers loose, he had been practicing with them lately, and I knew Octavia could help him to an extent, but it just seemed too dangerous to let his secret out. How many species would come for him? How would we stop them or protect him? Not only that, but I know from experience the hunger for controlling power killed my parents, Dez’s parents, and most of what should have been my pack. The problem was that he was too carefree, too powerful, and getting too old now for us to hold him back.

MYLOSomething happened between Nixon and Terran, what I wasn’t sure, but we could find out about it later when we had privacy. My mother scooped up Nora instantly when everyone made their way to the tables, positioning herself across from us, beside Brianna.“I’m glad to see your sister’s mate,” Xander started as he glanced down to where they sat at the far end of the table from us, “doesn’t insult easily.”“He’s used to dealing with my brother’s,” I smiled, “and he is mated to Marie.”“You’re too hard on her,” Wyatt laughed as he pulled Brianna into his lap, “what did you expect with parents like yours,&rdqu

TERRANMylo tried to prepare me for meeting their royals, and although they were something to take notice of, they clearly didn’t have the same effect on me as they did on everyone else. Marie was already wound tighter than cramped roots over everything that was going on, but when they walked in, every hair on her body stood at attention. Once they were in front of her, her energy shifted again as she dropped into a calm state that I hadn’t been able to get her to since the Marcus and Izzy incident. The kings were just how they described them, beastly in their appearance, dead inside if their facial expressions were any indication. Other than a side smile to the Luna, they were basically emotionless, standing by like psychopaths just waiting to be unleashed by their queen. When the heirs were introdu

DAHLIA I jolted at the sound when one of the kings cleared his throat. Watching the Queen be smitten with Nora was bringing a new level of comfort and happiness to me, a product I’m sure of the loyalty their blood brought out in me. It was a weird emotion to identify, but I felt in debt to them somehow when I’d only just met them, like any negative thought I could muster to think was suddenly gone and replaced with an intense need to appease them. My whole body seemed so relaxed now, a stark contrast to moments before they walked in, and it was easy to get swept away in watching the Queen take in Nora, so much so that I forgot anyone else was in the room with us. “You’ll have to excuse Brianna,” he started as he picked up my hand and kissed the top of it, “she’s apparently lost her mind now that a baby is

DAHLIAI was a nervous train wreck even though I tried not to let it show. I held my head steady as we walked into the packhouse, every wolf we passed looking at us with caution as we passed by.‘Your instincts are correct,’ Mylo linked me as he squeezed my hand slightly when we entered the dining area, ‘but you are safe here, so try to enjoy yourself, Luna.’‘That was definitely not the impression you just gave to Terran,’ I linked back as I caught sight of his parents. After he was done re-explaining things to Terran, I felt as though I had been given the child version of his warnings.&lsq

MYLO When Marie and Terran arrived they were escorted to an accommodation close to us to get settled in. Dahlia was pacing back and forth as I fed Nora. Anxious, like myself, to get the next few days over with, but it shouldn’t be long before Alderic is back to get ready for supper. Supper would be a good distraction for her as she focuses on the royals, but it posed another level of worry for me. While the royals never posed a threat to us before, Wyatt was unpredictable at best and I haven't had contact with the heirs often enough to be able to judge their behaviours. Dahlia's eyes were slightly glossed over as she 'tidied' up the place, pausing at one point and staring out of one of the windows at the front.I pla

MYLO “Is she pissed?” Alderic asked as I stepped outside to wait for Dahlia. “No,” I shook my head, “but you’re lucky SHE was the one who submitted you.” “Yea that one’s on me,” he shook his head, "all this Alpha energy is making Leto brazen. You'd think he'd be the opposite, I mean he's no coyote," he looked at me and laughed lightly, tucking his hands into his pockets, "but he's used to being around it, we've done things like this since we were kids." Leto had a history of trying to outrank other leaders so it didn’t come to me as a surprise. What mattered most to me was that he was already tempering Leto before Dahlia made him submit and that I knew when it came down to it that he would lay down his life for her and Nora.
