I almost didn’t like feeling all of Jay's emotions. But when he said he would protect me, that sent shivers up my spine. I know this boy would protect me. Hell he took me to a place that he wanted to keep a secret. That must mean something.

When I had finally reached school I saw him sitting in his car. I walked up to the window and tapped on the glass moving my hand to tell him to roll it down.

He looked at me petrified. “She means roll it down wyatt.” I heard Jay's voice in my mind and tried to ignore it. Wyatt? “Probably someone like us?” replied jen. I shook my head and smiled patiently at him. He shakily rolled down the window.

“H-hi Lake.” He stuttered. He tried to smile but it just looked awkward.

“Keep an eye on him! He seems like me!” Maya yelled from the back of mind. I just smiled at Jay, “Cmon bubbas let’s go to class.” I held out my hand and he stared at it….for a very long time. Finally I reached down, grabbed his hand and dragged him away from his car.

“Make sure you lock it.” I said kindly. Jay quickly turned around and locked the car. He looked down at the ground and started to walk funny.

“Would you please stop staring at me.” Jay said this in a quiet soft voice. “I’m sorry bubbas I didn’t know I was staring."

I looked away from him and led him towards class. I felt like a mother. Cortney! I'm gonna need your help today. “ON IT!” she shouted. I looked very awkward leading a 6’ tall boy around. But his posture was different. It seemed as if he was trying to appear smaller. He put on his hood as soon as we reached the doors.

Jay held very tightly to my hands and all I could think of was ways to calm him down. We made it to our first class.

Thank god our schedule is the exact same. I had made sure to make him show me his classes and soon realized all of ours were the same. Which was good.

The day went on and Jay had barely spoken..that is until the last hour. During Mrs.Campbell's class, I felt his whole energy change. He went from a ball to spreading his feet out and slouching.

“Um hi?” I said quietly. He looked at me and just rolled his eyes. He then proceeded to grab a notebook and start writing again. I tried to grab a peak but he just covered it with his arms.

That’s Jay alright. I said all the girls nodded in agreement.I tried to take a peak at what he was writing but that’s when it hit me. A sudden ringing started going through my head. I flinched and as soon as I looked back up I saw jay running out the doors.

Oh you’ve got to be kidding me. I mumbled. “Mrs. Campbell, I think I'm going to be sick!” I shouted. She looked at me frantically and said “Go go! oh dear lordy don’t throw up in my class.” Everyone laughed but I didn’t care so I grabbed my bag and ran.

I made it down the hallway when I saw him lying there. He was laying on the ground clutching his head and screaming. Like full on bloody screaming.

I ran up to him and touched him. That’s when I heard the demonic voices in his head. “Jay, cmon get up I said.” I heard Mrs. Kruse's door open and slam. “C'mon she’s coming!” I shouted at him.

“Change his thoughts! Now!” shouted courtney. I dug deep and saw the bridge. And just like that he quieted down. “Please help me to my car.” He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and we walked out to his car.

It was very difficult because his full body weight was on me and he is not a light fella. We reached his car and he laid down in the backseat.

“Go away.” he mumbled. I looked at him startled. When I went to say something he sat up and his eyes were clouded over. “I said GO AWAY!” he shouted. This scared me and I turned and ran. Oh what did I get myself into.

I decided to head home. Maybe then I could make sense of all of this. I reached home and realized that my mom and step dad wouldn’t be home for another few hours so I hiked up to my room.

Alright guys meeting. Jen, Lillian and maya came shooting into view and all began talking at once. I just rubbed my temples. “guys, guys, GUYS!” I shouted. “Listen he’s not like us but he is like us. We need to talk about whether or not we want to break the connection!”

Maya was the first to speak. “No, we can’t break it. I like wyatt. He’s sweet.” Everyone rolled their eyes. “I say break it. We don’t need that or him in our lives, it's just going to go downhill.” Lillian said, crossing her arms. “Besides if we keep it then I am going to be in charge and none of you want that.” Everyone looked down and got quiet.

No one wanted Lillian in charge, but sometimes she had to be. Jen finally spoke up. “Give it time, we need to find out more and it cannot be based purely on emotion. Maybe we could help him?” As soon as this was said rose shot into view “OH HEEELLLL NO.” she shouted. All of them groaned but smiled. Rose didn’t come to view often but when she did it meant something big was about to happen.

“We can’t be friends with him just to fix him, all of you want in his pants, but y’all are pansy’s. Let me deal with him for a few days and then we can figure it out.” Rose said. Everyone went quiet again then finally we all nodded in agreement.

"Fine rose you get to take the lead. But don’t you dare start doing drugs again.” I said. “Oh i wont.” she smirked.

My phone started ringing and all of us jumped at the sudden noise. “Jay” it read. “Ugh let me answer it.” Rose rushed back into my head and moved my body for me. “Hi!” she said cheerfully. “Erm….hey, can we go get coffee?” Jays timid voice rang through the phone.
