“I need some water.” Mom said trying to get up.
“I’ll get it.” Francis told mom, getting up and going to the sink. We sat quietly, waiting for Francis to finish. The sound of the water rushing out of the tap was so loud in this silent large kitchen.
Well, until Alice broke the silence. “I have a question. What will Francis be calling you now?”
She was asking mom.
“We’ll talk about that later.” Dad cut in.
Francis placed the glass of water in front of mom and sat back down. Mom only took a sip of the water and then placed the glass back on the table. We sat waiting for mom to start talking.
“You know what your dad said about forgiveness?” Mom started. “Marriage is all about forgiveness. I’ve forgiven your father a lot of times, for various reasons, like he mentioned. One of those reason’s was Delilah. She use to work here for us, right in this mansion. She use to cook, cle
Dad looked at mom and then Francis. He then looked at me. For a few seconds. I thought he was about to ignore Francis and start asking about Yoké again but he didn’t.“A mother is a mother.” He said, and then turned to Francis. “It’s your right. But you’re a smart man: you know how highly I value our reputation. You know how much of a role it plays in our company, for our contracts, in getting and keeping clients. You know very well. So I know you know what that means: same applies to you like I told Gen and Alice, as long as the world outside doesn’t know. These servants signed a very serious confidentiality contract, they know if they just as much as say our name to other people, they’ll be in very serious trouble. The only ones that have the ball in this are you guys, the children of this family. Your mom and I would never. We’ve plus minus 26 years of practice.”Francis n
Did Omar not hear a word I said? I clearly told him that I’m not allowed to leave the house. He wants me to leave now? Does he know what the time is? It’s two in the morning. How the hell am I supposed to leave this place at two in the morning. Morning jog? At two? No one will fall for that. And dad is home, sleeping downstairs. My phone began ringing. I quickly answered.“Omar, I can’t leave the mansion, I swear.” I told him.“I forgot to tell you to leave your phone at home when you come and delete my last message.”“Why shouldn’t I bring my phone?” I asked him.“Just do what I said. I’ll see you soon.”“Omar you need to tell me what’s going on with you and Yoké-” He hung up before I could even finish.I pressed the area between my eyes and pinched
The closest hospital on the GPS was so far from where I had met Omar. It was killing me seeing Omar lye so helplessly in the backseat while I couldn’t get him to the hospital fast enough. It killed me to keep thinking of the possibility of us arriving too late at the hospital. I was shaking my head. I’d never ever be able to forgive myself.I glanced at Omar and saw his eyes close.“Hey, hey, hey!” I was telling him. “Omar wake up. Don’t you die on me, Omar, don’t you dare die on me.”He opened his eyes to look at me but only half-way.“I want you to try harder.” I told him. “Open your eyes. You are strong enough. Look, look, Omar, there’s the hospital in front. We are almost there. Don’t you close your eyes.”As soon as I drove through the gates I began honking.“I need help! I need help!” I was calling out the window as I drove to the entrance. “He’s been Shot!”When I got t
As I stood in front of the closed doors I tried to understand what Omar was telling me but it just didn’t make any sense. I started walking back to the waiting area. I saw a vending machine. Gosh, my stomach growled. I went back to the car and took another note. I came back to the vending machine and took two protein bars and some water. I went looked for the toilets. I followed the signs, until I got there. I walked up to the sink and looked at myself in the mirror. I was a walking mess. There was even stains of Omar’s blood on my face. How did they even get there? I opened the tap and started washing my hands with soap. After my hands were clean I washed my face. I wet my hair a little and tired it up on the top of my head with the band I always wore around my wrist at before bed as I undid my hair. I looked at myself, my face looked better but my clothes were still a mess, huge blood stains on my white and pink pyjama top and pants. Although there was no blood on that
“What did you say?” Dad asked me.Was I doing the right thing telling dad about Yoké?“He is here in Duran. He came here for me. And we met. I saw him.”Dad opened his mouth but no words came out. He looked blown away. He looked around placing his hands on his waste.“And where did you see him?” That seemed like the only words which could leave his mouth without him blowing up.“Everywhere. My apartment, his apartment, here in the mansion-”“Wh- what?” Dad asked, pronunciation so clear. “How the hell did he get into this mansion?”I kept quiet. If I told him how, he’d know that Yoké is none other than Dan. Dan: Alice’s boyfriend, the guy I’m in love with and the guy whose baby I was carrying. That doesn’t sound good for Yoké
“Go to your rooms, the both of you!” Dad told Alice and I as he was trying to button up his pyjama top, clumsily.“Anna, how could you do this?” I asked her, felling such a heavy weight on my heart. She too, trying to wear her uniform.“I’m so sorry.” Anna told us. “I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean for you guys to see this.”“Just go back upstairs now.” Dad was telling us.“How could you, dad?” Alice was asking, I could see her eyes fill with tears. Alice was gonna cry!“Weren’t you the one who is always about respect and loyalty to the family?” I asked him. “How could you do this to us? Is this what you call respect?”“Raphael.” I heard my mother’s squeaky voice. When I turned around, she threw both her hands to her mouth and began crying. She looked so vulnerable.Alice and I quickly ran to her, hugging her.“How could you le
“Poisoned? What do you mean he’s been Poisoned?” I asked, swapping the phone to my other ear.“Whose been poisoned?” Alice asked me, walking towards me.I shook my head at her. “I’ll be right away.”“What’s going on, Gen?” Alice asked me.“Someone’s been poisoned at the office, I have to go now.” I told her.“W-wait.” She held my wrist. “What do I do with her?”She motioned towards Anna with her head. I looked at Anna staring at us through the cell bars.“Alice I really need to go. Do what ever you want to.” I told her.“Okay, so how are you gonna get to the office?” She asked me. “Let me bail her out and then I can go drop you there.”“Alice I reall
“We all know her as the perfect big sister who will stop at nothing to defend her little sister and say all sweet words about her, but, behind closed doors, she’s actually dating her little sister’s boyfriend, Danlie Forbes and cheating on her fiancée Nathan Gordon. Danlie and Genesis planned to elope Monday night but looks like they were not successful.”“No way…” I placed my hands on my head. “This guy did not just say that on the radio…”“Danlie has been spotted going into and leaving Genesis Roseburg’s apartment in Upper Wander. They’ve also been spotted in front of the Civic Centre a few minutes right after her sister Alice Roseburg walked away from Danlie at that particular place. That’s not the worst, here’s the worst, the greatest rumour that Raphael Roseburg’s whole family has denied in countless interviews is actually true indee
