Chapter 4: Show Some Respect!

Rameric's POV:

I could not believe what was happening right now as shock took over me completely.  As it started, it was a strange feeling deep within my being, causing me to fall to the wayside as I grasped for my chest.  I was already on the side of the path and made sure to remain out of sight when she was brought through the transference gate, so no one saw me.  The last thing I was expecting was for the Mate Attraction to hit me like a sudden rock slide down a mountain, seeming as if it fell on my very chest.  This was the very last thing that I ever expected.

I have been waiting for over a hundred years or more for my intended mate, and the shock of her actually turning out to be a mere, insignificant human was almost too much for me to bear.  The best thing about my position is, that I was not cursed with the effects of time.  I was coming up on my 125th year here in less than a month, and I was beginning to think that I was going to have to tread this soil for a decade without the likes of finding my true intended, the only one truly meant for me.

I looked back at her as she was drug away by the Warrior guards.  Their sole purpose was to transport the newly arrived slaves from their position outside the transference gate and to the new pen, where the slaves would remain until a necessary party would come by to claim them.  On the first day of the month, there would be a celebration of sorts.  That is where different members from different packs would come and exchange for new slaves.  Since humans were insignificant and weak, not to mention great in number, it was not uncommon for a pack member to exchange for more than one new slave at a time.  Since they would not last nearly as long as a normal werewolf, or even a Lycan for that matter.

After a few more moments, Galien came back over to where I was, and when he saw me in a bit of a shocked state, he hurried over, checking on my well-being.

"My Alpha Caine, are you alright!" He stated in a bit of a concerned tone as he reached out, placing a hand on my shoulder, as I was leaning over with my opposite arm supporting myself on the nearby tree.  "Do I need to call for aid?"

"No, that will not be necessary," I threatened as I looked at him, then looked through the limbs of the trees off in the direction she was still being taken in.

However, it was at that exact moment, as I was looking through the limbs, I saw her eyes for the very first time.  That sudden pull in my chest was ever so apparent and even stronger from the first sensation I got when the Warrior guards initially brought her through the gate.  She looked deep into my eyes as I looked deep into hers and I knew, this was my mate, despite the fact that she was a mere human.  I could not help myself as I was overtaken by a pure surge of anger that radiated through my entire being.  I turned around and thrust my fist at the tree I was using to support myself earlier, causing a large chunk of bark and debris to fly in all directions with the massive blow.

Galien rushed over and stood next to me, knowing that something happened previously, but I had yet to say what was the cause of my anger at that point.  He knew that in my current state, his presence was all that was required and no words were needed, or wanted if I might add.  As I stood there, facing in the opposite direction of where she was being led, I thought about what this could mean.  Would other packs, knowing my position, come to threaten my territory, after they find out that I am mated to a weak human, one who was sold into slavery, one who I had a hand in dealing personally?!  I was not about to let everything that I had built crumble to pieces on account of what Fate had in store for me.  I had to find out the reason for this and do it before anyone else found out.

I turned and started walking along the trail back towards where all the slaves were taken with Galien fast upon my heels.  The usual Warrior guards were walking back with us, however, they made sure to leave some distance as I did not associate myself with the likes of them.  I did not oversee the treatment of slaves, as that was intended for Galien.  He made sure their treatment was fair to their position, as I, on the other hand, had more important things to attend to.

When we finally reached the main pen, the Warrior warden was about to give his, greeting deceleration to all the new slaves, telling them as to what their new life was to be within the packs.  However, this speech did not start off like the rest.  It was not uncommon to have slaves crying and carrying on after their arrival, only there was a young human, around the age of responsibility who was not quieting down when he started speaking.  As Galien and I turned to watch this take place, I watched how he was going to strike the young human.  What I did not expect to see, was my intended mate, rush over and shove her out of the way.

In the face of great adversity, she risked her own life, knowing she was now a slave to help another like herself.  Looking away, something inside of me was drawn to her spirit at that moment.  When I looked at her again, I saw how she was no longer standing in front of the Warrior warden.  This time, he had her in his grasp, hanging her in midair with her feet dangling above the ground.  I could not help the surge of aggression that came over me as I shifted right in front of everyone.  My werewolf bounded, jumping over the perimeter fence, and landing mere feet from where the Warrior warden stood.  Then, with one swift move, Rager, knocked him down, causing her to fall to the ground somewhat harshly.

Galien seeing this rushed towards the pen shouting.  "Show some respect!"
