My fingers wrapped themselves upon the thin parchment paper of the book that I was reading as I flipped it over and over. “This is useless,” I muttered.
“What’s useless, sis?” Byron plopped himself down on the ground with me.
“This book that Trei gave us yesterday,” I told him and showed him the hardcover of the book.
“Do you think he got scared? I mean, even he did not escort us today.” He laid his back on the cold metal wall behind us.
Yesterday night Trei stopped by in front of my room to apologize before handing me this book. He said that it was the only book that their private library has about demigods.
“Do you want to read it?” I asked him as
I thanked my survival instinct that prodded me to leap to the side as soon as the bear swiped its claws in my direction. I heard a loud crash of claw on metal and looked up as I finally stopped rolling. The already dented control panel now lay on the snowy ground in chunks and pieces. Are bears supposed to be this powerful?!The cub in Byron’s arms started to cry for its mother. The mother bear looked in their direction and started to climb over the satellite platform. This is not good. If this keeps up, there won’t be a satellite to fix, which means that we could potentially lose one of our sources of communication.I ran towards my brother and grabbed the cub from his hands that made the cub cry. Byron looked at me in surprise but it did not fight me
“Ow!” My whole body jerked in pain as I felt the needle piercing through my skin. “Is there really no anesthesia that we can use?” I gritted my teeth at the pain as the needle once again pierced my skin. I don’t want to sound like a baby, but here I am grumbling like one.“I’m sorry, but as of the moment, we are all out.” The doctor who was stitching my arm said.I heard a chuckle beside me and glared at Bryon. He was biting the inside of his cheeks to fight the grin on his face. “Sorry, but maybe you should not run off on your own next time.”“If it wasn’t for me, you two wouldn’t have finished repairing the satellite peacefully,” I told him. “Right, general?” I asked while looking at Skyr.
The moment I got out of the water after my talk with Grukren, I got dressed and started to rush to the training room. Skyr had already warned me not to show up since it was his order. But I wasn’t going there to train. I was there to talk.As I reached the hallway that was headed for the training room, I paused and immediately hid around a corner when I saw something. Or someone. My heart somehow pounded slowly in my chest as I moved my head to the corner to take another look to make sure that I wasn’t seeing things. Just outside of the training room, I saw Skyr standing outside of the door while talking to another Atlantean girl. She was tall and looked really well built judging from her skin-tight attire that somehow reminded me of our old Atlantean uniforms.I couldn’t clearly see he
Trei drove us back towards the same area where he once took us to ice skate. But as soon as he dropped us off, he immediately took off along with the jeep saying something about calling a friend despite my protest. I wanted to ask him which friend because as much as possible, I would rather have only the four of us to be a part of this plan.On the bright side, he did leave us with some skating gears to kill time if we ever wait for him longer than we anticipated. Only Byron seemed to take to offer and left Skyr and I to go and skate on the frozen ocean water. Skyr got a log for the both of us to sit on while we wait and watch over Byron.“I am getting really good at this!” Byron lets out a yell of glee when as he twirled and slides over the ice. Skyr and I both laughed as we watched him acting childishly and chasing some penguins that decided to jo
The three of us followed Trei. As we were walking, I noticed how Byron and Skyr were casting me glances - asking me with their eyes where we were headed. As much I wanted to give them an answer, I shook my head and shrugged my shoulder to silently inform them that I was clueless as they are.As usual, the feeling wasn’t new to me and I never liked it.By the looks of it, we were headed to the other side of the slope that separated the lake into two. A sort of tall divider that we ourselves have to climb to get there.“It’s not that far. I dropped him off on the way here because he needed some water. He can’t go out of the water for much longer.” Trei suddenly reassured us. He must have noticed all the brewing tension and anxiety in the air. Although it was not his intention, the confusi
With his new look, you couldn’t recognize the late general at all because all of his features when he was a human were now gone and replaced with this newer and unrecognizable form.I looked at Trei. “How were you able to tell that he’s Skyr’s father?” I asked him. Now, the three of us were looking at Trei expectantly. My best friend placed both hands on his hips. “We pretty much found a cuff on his wrist. The same cuff that we removed from you three because you entered our hideout. We checked his information on the cuff and IDed him.” He explained. “Unfortunately, that is all the proof that I can give you because we threw away the cuff after we deactivated it for safety precautions. Plus, I have a bit of help dragging your father here with me.”“Help
Hazhar’s thoughts slipped through my mind. And I could only guess that the pill that Skyr and Byron took must have worked because they were both awfully surprised. Skyr has tears in his eyes the moment that he heard his father speaking. But pushing back the mind of a wild creature wasn’t easy because the moment that the whale notice that I was pushing him back, he began to retaliate and started fighting against me despite my constant command. It feels like something was constantly colliding with my head.Byron turned to me with a bright smile on his face. “Sis, you did it!”“Not sure about that,” I told him. My right hand flew to the side of my head and applied some pressure to distract myself from the growing headache. “I don’t think that I could keep doing this
Three days passed since that incident with Skyr’s father. We never talked about it again nor did we get a chance to. He was just his usual self like nothing ever happened. In fact, I feel like he has gotten a little too talkative lately that it worries me.As for the planning of our escape, Trei says that he’ll be the one to make the plans. He gave us each a gym bag one day and told us to fill it up with the gears and materials that we wish to pack and he’ll come and pick it up in two days.He never told us the plan. He says that the fewer people to know about the plan, the better. I think that he was referring to the time when we were in Atlantis. He just wanted to be cautious in order for our plan to be successful. But to be honest, I have this inkling feeling that he doesn’t want bot
“...and after that, the sea serpent named Silisk was finally reunited with his beloved master. Lord Meruem.” I glanced down at the two children before me as I finished the story. Two girls. One had platinum blonde hair, and the other one had a pure white one. Though they look like sisters, twins even, they’re not. They’re just cousins. The girl with the platinum blonde hair is named Alice. She’s five years old. Her eyes were a pretty shade of blue, just like her mother. Her dress, which was obviously a product from the surface, is teal in color. She never pays any attention to my story, not unless it involves animals. She kind of reminds me of my brother, in a way, who is still obsessed with sea creatures up to this date. The white-haired little girl is named Olive. She’s also five. Her eyes are of the same shade of yellow as her father's. She has wrink
“Holy shit. That thing is so nasty up close.” I could hear Trei’s commentary somewhere in the distance, but I could not look for him because I could not get distracted as I held Silisk in place.‘Master, we’ll help.’ Dodo, one of the Megalodons, came out of the water and tackled Silisk away. But before they could disappear into the water, Iocules came to assist. His long tentacles wrapped around the serpent’s mouth, and he forced it close. Because Silisk was too big for the Megalodon, the other sea creatures assisted, including the guardians from Urei’s domain.A Kraken, three megalodons, and the five sea monsters weren’t enough to keep the serpent in the water. It wasn’t until Fifi arrived and placed her weight along with the others that they were able to keep the snake in check.
Riding on Nalu’s back while he runs on the water’s surface was way worse than when he’s running underwater. There was no buoyancy force that fights and cancels his speed, and let me tell you, Nalu is called a water horse for a reason. Byron and I had to keep on our helmets because of the wind resistance at Nalu’s speed. If Nalu had not wrapped his watery mane on us around us as seatbelts, we might have been thrown to the water a few minutes earlier.“Nathalia, where is he taking us?” My brother asked behind me, which I heard from the radio in our helmets.“Puerto Rico. Apparently, that’s Silisk’s next target.” I said and glanced down on the octopus curled on my arm as I grabbed onto Nalu’s mane tightly.
Our group separated for the plan. Knowing that Ylgarr is dead, Atlantis no longer has a leader to command them. And, with the release with the serpent, Skyr was certain that the people must be in a state of panic. Also, with Rachel’s situation, she needs immediate help, which she can find in Atlantis.Trei plans to head for the rebel facility to talk to his great-something grandfather and send help to assist us in the battle. If there’s one thing that we know that Silisk would do, it's that he wants to floor the lands. But the question is, where?“You guys take Fifi,” Byron instructed Skyr before petting his prehistoric dinosaur buddy when she let out a whine in protest. “Sorry, Fifi. I need you to protect Rachel while delivering them safely back to Atlantis. Can you do that for me?” Byron got his response when Fifi stopped w
Silisk was gone. He managed to escape the storm by devouring the blood of Iocules(Max) that lingered in the water so he could pass the storm. We didn’t go after him. Instead, Skyr, Fifi, and I looked for Byron and Rachel. We weren’t the ones who found them. It was Trei who contacted us and informed us that Nalu was able to them. He says that they’re floating on what’s left of Silisk’s dead skin in the water. It wasn’t long because I used my connection to track down Nalu and immediately found the others. They were all standing on the massive snakeskin chunk on the water that served as a mini-island.I did not wait for Fifi to stop as I rushed towards them. When I landed on the skin, I felt relieved when I saw Byron and Rachel, but not in a good way. Byron was holding onto Rachel tightly as Emily tried to stop the bleeding from
I held onto Byron’s arms as the island began to shake violently and Silisk slowly awakened. What seemed like a massive rock behind the crazed form of Ylgarr suddenly began to shake. It wasn’t until slits formed and opened that I realized that those were Silisk’s eyes that cracked open. The slits of his pupils focused on us before raising his head. His body, which we were standing on, began to move and lifted us up and away from Ylgarr. Watching Silisk shedding away his scales was terrifying. I felt like I was watching my nightmare come true right before my eyes.He was massive that we were just as tall as his slitted pupils. We had to look up just to watch him emerge and pull his face off of his shedding that seemed to stick together due to time.“He lives. He LIVES! I DID IT!” I
A sudden wave of turbulence burst in our way the moment we crossed the barrier that Helighor warned us about. Byron fought off most of the wave that was headed our way using his magic. But it was pitch black in these parts of the water that Byron couldn’t fight off every wave that threatened to wash us away. The only lights here are coming from our helmets and the submarine that Emily and Watson were in.Falco and the other metahumans moved closer to our huddled group and pushed us back whenever it seemed like we were going to slip away. I saw a couple of light flickering by Fifi’s armpits, which assured me that at least Emily and Watson were still with us.‘Helighor!’ I reached out to him with my mind because I didn’t know how long we could last in this weather.
The next morning we left the crate back on the island and only brought what we could with us. All of us were fully geared as we rode onto Fifi’s back. Byron, Trei, Rachel, Skyr, and I rode Fifi while Emily and Watson were driving the battleships they managed to scavenge.Skyr and I were sitting side by side as we rode Fifi. We haven’t talked about it yet, but it was evident that our relationship has changed after that kiss. We managed to talk about it last night and agreed that it’s not the time to tell anyone about us just yet because it might cause a distraction for some of us. We had never been in a relationship before until recently, so we were still awkward about it. But all we know is that we got more motivation to help us win this war.I noticed Jack swimming at my other side while looking in my direction. Skyr ignored him, but he didn&
We were riding on top of Fifi’s back when we met up with the others. I thought that we would be meeting a ship, but it turns out that it was just a huge crate of gear supplies. We mounted that box onto Fifi’s back with the help of the metahuman squadron C, who was also not happy with getting abandoned. Emily, Watson, and Rachel were the only ones who talked to us. They informed us that they were able to scavenge a few working pieces of equipment from the wreckage on the previous war. Watson was able to scavenge a couple of ships that he and Emily could use. As for Rachel, she still has her handgun that she was currently cleaning. While the others were busy talking and checking on the crate, Byron and I sat at the backmost part on Fifi’s back as we followed behind Helighor.‘So…’
