Tyler’s POV.

My family was trying to frustrate me; why would they force someone on me? I wasn't interested in Brenda in any way; we are not even compatible.

I hate what she loves and she loves what I hate; it was a very terrible combination.

I paced around the room in an attempt to calm the anger that suddenly grew inside of me after my mother’s call.

I cannot even remember the last time my mother called to actually check up on me; she was always calling to scold me and it was almost as if she didn't care about my existence.

My happiness meant nothing to them; all they care about is their money and their legacy. I suddenly stopped pacing when I heard Madison snoring.

I walked back to the bed and laid beside her. I couldn't stop staring at the woman laying beside me.

I was touching her hair at intervals but she was sleeping deeply. She was snoring lightly but I didn't mind. I thought she would be up already

She had been sleeping for a long time but I soon joined her when I shut

Madison’s POV “Are you leaving already? I made breakfast for you, Miss Madison." "That is so nice of you, Mrs. Sophie, but I have to hurry home; I need to get to work."“I made breakfast especially for you; please do not turn me down; the table is set already.” She persuaded.“And I hate to waste my food.” Tyler added.I do not know if it is just me alone or if Tyler is like that with everybody. Words on the street say he is too rude and pompous, so I am not surprised.I dropped my bag on the couch and headed to the dining room. I was already on my way out when Mrs. Sophie met me halfway. I sat opposite Tyler. I didn't want to sit close to him so I avoided him.I could not explain the kind of likeness Mrs. Sophie has towards me; she was always treating me nicely whenever I came around and it made me feel loved. She served me roasted potatoes and chorizo hash, accompanied by a blueberry-banana nut smoothie. Tyler was having Gruyere, bacon, and spinach scrambled eggs.“Enjoy your brea

Madison’s POV.I was driving really fast, but I was still mindful so I wouldn't get pulled over by the police.Tears were dropping down my face; I couldn't stop or control it. I became more impatient when I got to the hospital’s parking lot. I almost jumped out of my car without parking. I got inside and ran to my mother’s ward but she wasn't there. I ran to the receptionist. My heart was racing faster than my legs.“Excuse me, I'm looking for Mrs...”I was gasping for air; I was trying to catch my breath and talk simultaneously.“Calm down, Ma; try to catch your breath first.”"Yes, I'm sorry. Please, where did they move Mrs. Mary Byers too?“Hold on a few seconds, let me check."That was the longest wait ever; she only took a few seconds but I felt like I waited for hours. The hospital was a really big building, the biggest hospital in the city, so I can understand if she takes a while to look for my mother’s name.“Take the elevator to the 4th floor; she is in the process of surger

Now leave before I call the security on you.” Andy asked angrily.“I will leave, but trust me, I will be back if she does not stay away from my man. I promise you that.” Brenda snapped.Brenda walked away. I was so angry that I started pacing around again.“That bitch! How dare she? How did she even know I was here? I’m sure Tyler’s mom might have given her some information.”“Calm down, Maddy; she is gone.”That was when Mrs. Rosaline and Sophie came back from the bathroom.“Brenda was here.”“Who is Brenda?“Tyler’s betrothed”“What? But Tyler already married Madison, what does she want? “ Gem asked, surprised.I was so upset, I went into the bathroom to calm myself down. That was not the right moment to be angry. I got to the bathroom and I saw how messed up I looked. I almost punched and smashed the mirror but people will think I'm crazy if I do that.I took out my

Madison’s POV.The surgery was successful but my mother wasn't waking up; she was in a coma. The doctors couldn't explain the cause of it but it made all of us panic even more. I had never been this scared in my entire life, and I was ready to give everything I had to bring her back."Doctor, what is happening? The surgery was successful but this is the third day and she is still not awake yet.’"As I told you before, the chances of her surviving are 50%; she isn't young and strong. All we have to do now is pray for her to survive.”“When do you think she would wake up, doctor?“I cannot specifically say, Madison ,but let’s just hope and pray for the best.I left the doctor’s office disappointed; the doctor didn't give me any positive response to brighten my morning; he was just trying to be positive. I drove home and rested my head on the couch. I was trying to relax my nerves but as usual, I was disturbed by the only pain in my Ass. Gem walked in, yelling at someone on the phone; he

Madison’s POV.I was uncomfortable. I was standing in front of Tyler with just a towel on my chest. I wouldn't say I wasn't expecting to see him because Tyler was capable of doing anything; I just wasn't expecting him to show up at my doorstep with me on a towel in front of him.I stood in front of the door. I saw the way he ran his eyes through my body; his eyes were undressing me; I saw the way he was looking at me lustfully.“What are you doing here, Tyler? Why did you show up at my house?“Nice to finally see you, Maddy.” He simply said.“Well, the feeling isn't mutual; it isn't nice to see you. Please leave; I need to head back to the bathroom.“Can I join you?” He asked with a naughty grin.“Do not get ahead of yourself, Tyler. Please leave.”Tyler entered the house anyway; he was busy looking around, ignoring my words.“You are not welcome here, Tyler; leave this very minute.” I repeated.“And why should I leave? You have a nice space, by the way.”“This is not your house so yo

Tyler’s POVI strained to make sense of what I was seeing. Madison was naked in front of me. As I glanced at her round and hard breast, I could feel my dick rising. I battled to keep my cool. It was really difficult for me to suppress my burning need. I relocated to be closer to Madison. She couldn't move because she was so shocked. I could feel her heart thumping in her chest as she stood still. She probably expected me to pick her up and bang on her like the first time we met. I really wanted to do it, but it wasn't the right time. I knelt down and assisted her in picking up her towel, which I then handed to her."Tyler, I told you to stay downstairs. What exactly are you doing here?” She snapped, embarrassed."Is that my reward for assisting you in picking up your towel?""Please leave me alone; I'll be down in a heartbeat.""Quit acting like a child; you act as if I've never seen you naked before; dress up; I'm waiting.”I sat on the couch, my gaze locked on her. Madison’s POVTyler has always been a jerk, and he loves to play silly tricks. What was his mother doing at the same restaurant where we had arrived?"Did you know about this, Tyler, or is it purely coincidental?""My mother and I are having lunch.""Are you insane?" And you didn't think it was appropriate to inform me?”"It knew you wouldn’t come, I thought it wasn't necessary, so I didn't say.""I don't want to scold you here like a child, but I can't help myself because you're acting like one." You didn't think it was necessary to notify me that we were going to have lunch with your mother? Are you sure you're serious?”"It wasn't necessary, so I didn't say."Tyler lightly grasped my hand as I turned to leave, preventing me from advancing any farther."Please wait. I apologize for not informing you, but I knew you wouldn't come if I had. My mother requested to see me. I don't want to confront this alone, which is why I need you to come with me. Tyler’s POVI knew my mom was up to no good when she asked me to join her for lunch out of the blues. The news hit me like a rock as I saw the way Maddy’s eyes opened widely. Her palms began to sweat in that short moment, and I wasn't the only one surprised.“What are you saying, mum? That doesn't make sense to me.”“I know it doesn't, but that is the only way out, and you cannot turn this down.“This is nonsense, mom. You both are hell bent on forcing me to get married to someone I do not even love. Brenda is an abusive and uncultured woman, I will not get married to her! Never!!! I do not care how much the contract is worth; I will not do it. And besides, are you forgetting the fact that I’m legally married?”“Get a divorce, I don’t care, you must do it! You do not have a choice! I won't allow your ego to ruin everything your dad has worked so hard for.”“Do you even care about me, Mum? All you ever do is cajole me to do things that only favour you both; you use me as bait each time

Tyler’s POVI was feeling a mix of joy and nervousness as I stood in front of the altar. Finally, the day Madison and I would be married was here. It was the moment I had been waiting for. I knew how important this event was, and my heart was racing with happiness as I waited for my bride. As I walked around in a classy and charming black suit, I couldn’t help but notice the little things that made my outfit special. The suit fit my body perfectly and hugged me in all the right places. The jacket had a slim fit that drew attention to my broad shoulders, and the pants were expertly made to make me look sharp and stylish. The fabric was a high-end mix of fine wool and silk. It had a light sheen that made the outfit look a little more glamorous. The suit’s black color was classic and timeless, which matched both my great taste and the seriousness of the event. A thin satin trim around the lapels added a modest but elegant touch that made the whole look better.A crisp white dress shirt t

Madison’s POVThree months laterAs Tyler and I entered the sleek, modern office building, a wave of anticipation and nervousness filled the air. The hallway seemed to stretch forever as we approached the glass doors leading to the boardroom. I could feel Tyler’s steady presence beside me, providing a reassuring anchor amid the storm of feelings brewing inside me.The moment we stepped into the meeting, all eyes turned towards us. The muted hum of talks stopped, replaced by the palpable tension that gripped the room. I kept a composed exterior, channeling the confidence Tyler had instilled in me throughout this ordeal.Leonard Byers, sitting at the head of the table, looked up from his papers, his expression shifting from indifference to shock as he registered my presence. The board members, accustomed to his authoritative demeanor, reflected his astonishment. Tyler and I moved confidently to an open space, ready to face the truth.“Miss Johnson,” Leonard stammered, trying to regain h

I wanted to be honest with Madison about everything.”My mom’s eyes narrowed further, her worry escalating into frustration. “Honest conversation? Tyler, after everything that happened in the past, you think you can just waltz back into my daughter’s life and have a ‘heart-to-heart’? What gives you that right?”Tyler sighed, understanding the gravity of the situation. “Mrs. Anderson, I know I messed up in the past. I hurt Madison, and I take full blame for that. But people can change, and I want to make amends. I love your daughter, and I want to be there for her.”My mom crossed her arms, her anger obvious. “Change? Love? Tyler’s POVI reassured myself, “Headaches are not unusual after a head injury. We’ll monitor her closely and adjust the treatment as required. The goal is to make her as comfortable as possible during the healing process.”Once Madison’s pain medication was administered, she started to relax, with the sharp pain gradually subsiding. Doctor Bennet turned to Madison’s mother with a serious look.“Mrs. Byers, I would like to discuss some important issues with you. Can you please join me in my office? We can talk more freely there,” Doctor Bennet offered.Madison’s mother looked concerned but nodded. “Of course, doctor. I’ll be right there. Madison, I’ll be back soon. Try to get some rest, sweetheart,” she said, gently kissing her daughter’s face.As Mrs. Byers stepped out of the room with Doctor Bennet, I looked at them with interest. • Thorns of the Heart   Chapter 194

Madison’s POVI lay on the narrow hospital bed, my eyes half-closed, trying to make sense of the fuzzy shapes around me. The sterile scent of the hospital room filled my nose, and the rhythmic beeping of machines provided a disconcerting soundtrack to my hazy thoughts. The pain on my side felt like a sharp jab, a constant reminder of something I couldn't quite grasp.I heard my mom's voice in the distance, a comforting murmur that reassured me, "You'll be fine, Madison. The doctors are taking care of you." It was a distant echo, like a lifeline connecting me to the world outside my foggy cocoon. I tried to focus on the words, to find solace in them, but the pain and dizziness were relentless.A nurse came in, her friendly face obscured by a mask, and checked the machines that surrounded me. "How are you feeling, sweetie?" the nurse asked, her voice a gentle melody. I managed a weak smile, attempting to convey that I was okay even though I wasn't entirely sure. The nurse adjusted some

Tyler’s POV"But what of her mum? How will I convince her I mean her daughter no harm?" I asked, my worry etched across my face. Dr. Bennett leaned back in his chair, considering the question. "Building trust with Madison's mother will also take time. It's crucial to be patient and show through your actions that your intentions are sincere. Avoid confrontations, be respectful, and give her the space she might need to process everything."I sighed, a mix of frustration and understanding. "I just don't want to be seen as the bad guy here. I genuinely care about Maddison, and I want her to have all the support she needs."Dr. Bennett nodded in agreement. "It's evident, Tyler. Just be yourself and focus on being a positive presence. Actions often speak louder than words, and with time, her mother may come to see your genuine concern for Maddison's well-being."Feeling a bit more assured, I nodded. "Thanks, Dr. Bennett. Your advice means a lot. I'll do my best to be patient and understandi

I raised my hand, and with a tentative knock, I announced my presence.“Come in,” a voice called from within the room.I pushed the door open and entered, finding a comfortable-looking office with a desk cluttered with papers. Dr. Bennett, with his graying hair, looked up from his work, offering me a reassuring smile.“Tyler, finally you are here. Please, have a seat,” he gestured towards the chair across from his desk.I hesitated for a moment, feeling a mix of nervousness and relief as he took the offered seat. The chair creaked slightly under his weight as he settled in, glancing around the room at the diplomas and medical charts adorning the walls.“Thanks, Dr. Bennett,” I mumbled, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. “Sorry I’m late. Got a bit turned around in this place. It’s like a maze.”Dr. Bennett chuckled warmly, “No worries, Tyler. Hospitals can be confusing. I’m
