Madison’s POV

The early sun creeped into my room and entered my eyes which made me toss around my bed. I eventually work up after trying to block the sun out of my eyes. I must have forgotten to close my curtains at night.

After Tyler walked away I went straight to bed and he didn’t bother to check up on me.

My room door was knocked slightly. “Who is that?” I asked after a while.

“It’s me Maddy. Sir Tyler has gone to work and you haven’t come down for breakfast yet so I was worried.” She shouted over the door then opened it slightly.

I yawned and then smiled sheepishly as her when she noticed that I just woke up. My hair was disheveled and I was glad that it wasn’t Tyler that saw me like that. He could have teased me all day for it.

“He didn’t even have the guts to explain his actions yesterday. Coward.” I muttered to myself.

“What did you say?” Mrs Sophia asked and I smiled. “Nothing. I will be down soon.” I told her and she nodded then closed the room door.

I got down from the bed a

Madison’s POV“Enough talking about that. Let's go have breakfast.” he said and went past me. I followed him downstairs quietly and we went to the dining table.Mrs. Sophia already had everything on that table for us to eat. “Why are you eating? I thought you forgot something. Shouldn’t you be rushing back to the office now?” I asked him after a moment of silence.“I didn't take anything thus morning so I figured out that I could just eat with you before leaving.” he said and went back to putting all his focus on the food.“You’re gonna make me lose my appetite. What's with the intense stare?” he asked me and looks at me.I looked away and cleared my throat. “Did you have fun last night?” I asked him and he chuckled.“Did it look like I did? You saw how everything went bizarre. Nothing went well yesterday. Why are you asking me an obvious answer?” he asked me and I laughed slightly.“You may choke. Be careful.” he said when my laugh turned into a full blown cough. He passed me the wat

Madison’s POVTyler left the house after that and I went to look for Mrs Sophia. She was just in the kitchen just as I thought. “I knew that I would find you here this time round.” I said when I bumped into her and she laughed. She was wearing an apron by the way. “Has he gone?” she asked me and I nodded.“Yes. He just left for work.”“It seems like you both have resolved the issue. I am glad. I told you that it wasn't like that.” she said and I smiled.“How was Brenda?” I asked her out of curiosity and she laughed.“What do you mean?”“How was she? Did she come here often or what?” I asked her and she cleared her throat so I went to get her some water. She took it and then drank it.“I always knew that she wasn't right for him but Tyler loved her so much that he wasn't paying attention to what some people said around him.” she started and I nodded.“I was with Tyler throughout hus childhood so I knew him fairly.“ she said.“You know him very well. I wouldn't say fairly.” I told her a

She looked at me and busted out in laughter. That's when I knew that she was just kidding. “I was just messing around with you. If Tyler says that you shouldn't leave the house then that must be the best decision for now. Just wait for a little bit. He will get everything together soon.” she said and I nodded.“I plan on visiting my mum though.” I told her.“You should do that. You can't stay here all day and the driver will take you there. You don't mind that at all right?” she asked and I nodded.“My daughter is here with my granddaughter. I have to leave now.” she said and at the same time, the oven made a sound to tell us that the timing was over and I laughed.“Just in time. Can they come in? I kind of want to see your granddaughter.” I asked her.“I am not sure. I am not used to bringing my family members here.” she said.“You don't have to do it if you don't want to. I can see that you are uncomfortable with it.” I told her.“I am not. I don't want to burden you. She is such a

Madison’s POV I chuckled when she said that and they both looked at me. “That’s such a rude thing to say Acquila. Apologize immediately.” Caramel said strictly and I went to Acquila’s rescue. “She may just be kidding. You don't have to scold her. She won't talk rudely anymore. Right Acquila?” I asked Aquila and hoped that she would just apologize but I could tell that she was a stubborn type so she shook her head. “I didn't day anything wrong. She has to start dating again. I want her to be happy also.” she said in such a matured way and I began to doubt if she was really that small. “How old is she?” I asked Caramel and she laughed. “She is just six. I know that she talks and acts more than her age and that's how she has always being. I don't know why.” she laughed. “That’s a good thing. You don't have to be worried about that.” I told her. “I know that she must have said something rude inside also. I apologize for that also.” she said suddenly. “Apart from entering my room wi

Madison’s POV“That's a good thing because you don't even have a social life right now.” Mrs. Sophia said and I couldn't help but laugh loudly.“We have that in common. I only talk to my best friend and siblings.” I told Caramel and she smiled sweetly at me.“Mum. Can you see that now? It's normal for people of our age. Making friends is just out of our dictionaries as we grow up. We just need that one person we can tell things to. Its not like I am abnormal or anything.” she said and Mrs Sophie clicked her tongue.“At least she is married, Caramel. You can't compare yourself to you. You know that I just want your happiness right? That's all I want. I won't force you to get into something that you don't want to.” she said softly to Caramel this time.“I know that mum but I am happy with Acquila by my side. She is all that I need and I won't change my mind. So it's about time that you stopped trying to convince me. You will give yourself a hard time by doing so.” she told her.I wante

Tyler’s POVAfter I left the house Mrs. Sophie let me know that Caramel and Acquila were coming to the house. She does that all the time even though I tell her not to inform me. She always said that she found the need to do so.She must have thought that she was crossing her boundaries but I considered her as family already. She was with me right from when I was a child. How could she even think that I would be upset if I come to the house and see them there?I walked into the company building and called my PA. She was running out of the elevator already and was beside me in no minute.“What’s my schedule for today?” I asked her while we were walking. I was used to the constant stares on me by now so that wasn’t a problem for me.“You have a meeting with the Winston Sharehold and then Simone called earlier just before you came in. You are not busy today which is a good thing.” She said quickly.Bella was always good with her job and she has been working for me for three years now. I r

Tyler’s POVMy PA looked at me in shock when I said that to her. She probably didn’t expect me to say that at all.“What do you mean sir? I didn’t do anything and please don’t accuse me of anything.” She said and I scoffed. The girl that I chose for her kindness, neatness and the ability to do a good job was gone already.I expected more. Can three years really just change a person?“Why are you asking me that? Do you need me to spell it out for you?” I asked her and she lowered her gaze.“I don’t know what I did but I am really sorry. I can’t believe we are back to what I started with. I have done a good job so I don’t know what my offense is.” She replied slowly and I sighed.“Why we’re you looking at my hand earlier. You wanted to check if I wore a ring or what?” I asked her and he eyes widened.“That’s not it. Your hand is injured and I was about to tell you to treat it or it will leave a scar.” She said and pointed to my hand. There was a wound there indeed. I didn’t even feel th

Tyler’s POVI could see how happy she was from the way she screamed in excitement and I laughed. Some of the company interns walking around had to stop and ask her what made her all excited like that.“It’s nothing. I am just so happy. I just got an important guest coming to my wedding.” She said briefly and I used the remote to close my office window before they could notice me eavesdropping on their conversation.“Thank you so much sir. I will do my very best.” She said in the intercom and I heard it from mine. After that, we had a meeting in the conference room so she came in and reminded me of it.“I will be out soon. Go there and do what you do the best. Just try to steal for time. I need to do something quickly.” I told her and she nodded.“You didn’t have lunch. Should I bring something for you or would you rather buying it by yourself?” She asked me while already going through her iPad for the closest restaurants around.“There is no need for that. I have to go now. We have to

Tyler’s POVI was feeling a mix of joy and nervousness as I stood in front of the altar. Finally, the day Madison and I would be married was here. It was the moment I had been waiting for. I knew how important this event was, and my heart was racing with happiness as I waited for my bride. As I walked around in a classy and charming black suit, I couldn’t help but notice the little things that made my outfit special. The suit fit my body perfectly and hugged me in all the right places. The jacket had a slim fit that drew attention to my broad shoulders, and the pants were expertly made to make me look sharp and stylish. The fabric was a high-end mix of fine wool and silk. It had a light sheen that made the outfit look a little more glamorous. The suit’s black color was classic and timeless, which matched both my great taste and the seriousness of the event. A thin satin trim around the lapels added a modest but elegant touch that made the whole look better.A crisp white dress shirt t

Madison’s POVThree months laterAs Tyler and I entered the sleek, modern office building, a wave of anticipation and nervousness filled the air. The hallway seemed to stretch forever as we approached the glass doors leading to the boardroom. I could feel Tyler’s steady presence beside me, providing a reassuring anchor amid the storm of feelings brewing inside me.The moment we stepped into the meeting, all eyes turned towards us. The muted hum of talks stopped, replaced by the palpable tension that gripped the room. I kept a composed exterior, channeling the confidence Tyler had instilled in me throughout this ordeal.Leonard Byers, sitting at the head of the table, looked up from his papers, his expression shifting from indifference to shock as he registered my presence. The board members, accustomed to his authoritative demeanor, reflected his astonishment. Tyler and I moved confidently to an open space, ready to face the truth.“Miss Johnson,” Leonard stammered, trying to regain h

Madison’s POV“What’s going on in here?” my mom asked, my eyes narrowing as I took in the emotional environment.I quickly wiped away my tears, trying to calm myself. “Mom, we’re just talking,” I said.Tyler nodded in agreement, his eyes never leaving mine. “We’re having a heart-to-heart. I wanted to be honest with Madison about everything.”My mom’s eyes narrowed further, her worry escalating into frustration. “Honest conversation? Tyler, after everything that happened in the past, you think you can just waltz back into my daughter’s life and have a ‘heart-to-heart’? What gives you that right?”Tyler sighed, understanding the gravity of the situation. “Mrs. Anderson, I know I messed up in the past. I hurt Madison, and I take full blame for that. But people can change, and I want to make amends. I love your daughter, and I want to be there for her.”My mom crossed her arms, her anger obvious. “Change? Love? Tyler, you had your chance, and you blew it. You can’t just expect to walk bac

Tyler’s POVI reassured myself, “Headaches are not unusual after a head injury. We’ll monitor her closely and adjust the treatment as required. The goal is to make her as comfortable as possible during the healing process.”Once Madison’s pain medication was administered, she started to relax, with the sharp pain gradually subsiding. Doctor Bennet turned to Madison’s mother with a serious look.“Mrs. Byers, I would like to discuss some important issues with you. Can you please join me in my office? We can talk more freely there,” Doctor Bennet offered.Madison’s mother looked concerned but nodded. “Of course, doctor. I’ll be right there. Madison, I’ll be back soon. Try to get some rest, sweetheart,” she said, gently kissing her daughter’s face.As Mrs. Byers stepped out of the room with Doctor Bennet, I looked at them with interest. Doctor Bennet gave me a wink, signaling that he wanted to give me the chance to talk to Madison without any interruptions by her mom.I felt a mix of feel

  • Thorns of the Heart   Chapter 194

Madison’s POVI lay on the narrow hospital bed, my eyes half-closed, trying to make sense of the fuzzy shapes around me. The sterile scent of the hospital room filled my nose, and the rhythmic beeping of machines provided a disconcerting soundtrack to my hazy thoughts. The pain on my side felt like a sharp jab, a constant reminder of something I couldn't quite grasp.I heard my mom's voice in the distance, a comforting murmur that reassured me, "You'll be fine, Madison. The doctors are taking care of you." It was a distant echo, like a lifeline connecting me to the world outside my foggy cocoon. I tried to focus on the words, to find solace in them, but the pain and dizziness were relentless.A nurse came in, her friendly face obscured by a mask, and checked the machines that surrounded me. "How are you feeling, sweetie?" the nurse asked, her voice a gentle melody. I managed a weak smile, attempting to convey that I was okay even though I wasn't entirely sure. The nurse adjusted some

Tyler’s POV"But what of her mum? How will I convince her I mean her daughter no harm?" I asked, my worry etched across my face. Dr. Bennett leaned back in his chair, considering the question. "Building trust with Madison's mother will also take time. It's crucial to be patient and show through your actions that your intentions are sincere. Avoid confrontations, be respectful, and give her the space she might need to process everything."I sighed, a mix of frustration and understanding. "I just don't want to be seen as the bad guy here. I genuinely care about Maddison, and I want her to have all the support she needs."Dr. Bennett nodded in agreement. "It's evident, Tyler. Just be yourself and focus on being a positive presence. Actions often speak louder than words, and with time, her mother may come to see your genuine concern for Maddison's well-being."Feeling a bit more assured, I nodded. "Thanks, Dr. Bennett. Your advice means a lot. I'll do my best to be patient and understandi

Tyler’s POVAs I approached Room 203, I took another deep breath, steeling myself for the upcoming conversation. I raised my hand, and with a tentative knock, I announced my presence.“Come in,” a voice called from within the room.I pushed the door open and entered, finding a comfortable-looking office with a desk cluttered with papers. Dr. Bennett, with his graying hair, looked up from his work, offering me a reassuring smile.“Tyler, finally you are here. Please, have a seat,” he gestured towards the chair across from his desk.I hesitated for a moment, feeling a mix of nervousness and relief as he took the offered seat. The chair creaked slightly under his weight as he settled in, glancing around the room at the diplomas and medical charts adorning the walls.“Thanks, Dr. Bennett,” I mumbled, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. “Sorry I’m late. Got a bit turned around in this place. It’s like a maze.”Dr. Bennett chuckled warmly, “No worries, Tyler. Hospitals can be confusing. I’m
