Rose flinched upon hearing Starvos’s tone that had raised, causing the man to recoil from guilt. He didn’t meant to shout at her and quickly whisper, “I’m sorry.” “No,” Rose shook her head. She didn’t feared Starvos’s harsh tone. Anyone in his position would feel the way he did and even now, Rose would have acted the same way as he did. She feared that with more people knowing the curse, Dominic would be more susceptible to harm. But she know for once that Starvos would never ever hurt Dominic. “It’s a curse that is extremely rare. Until now there is no cure for it or a way to break them. It— it’s almost impossible to find a way to break the curse. The curse would slowly eat Dominic from the inside, making him suffer from unknown illness…” Rose’s voice broke as anger filled the back of her throat. She had to force herself to speak as though swallowing a bitter medicine. “That’s why he had been weaker physically.” “So all this time.. he’s bearing a curse?” Starvos slumped down to h
Rose’s eyes snapped behind her and she quickly darted her eyes back to Mona, “What’s that?” “Magic,” Mona said at once, “I could feel magic.” “Damn it. It must be them,” Starvos said with a click of his tongue that raised her eyebrows. “What do you mean them?” She inquired, feeling that they don’t have enough time, she quickly walked toward the table, pulling the powdered painkillers which the Master had given to her early in the afternoon. Quickly, she dawned the bitter medicine, gulping it down with water. “When we went to the imperial castle earlier we found out that the King and Queen are under influence of magic. The people behind it are Dominic’s brother, Shawn and that damned sorcerer..” Starvos’s words were cut as Rose uttered the name before him.“Isaac,” she saw the startled look on Starvos’s eyes, confirming her guess that they had been working together. “What magic did you feel, Mona?” “Summoning magic,” Mona shuddered when she felt the dark magic that brushed her ne
Shawn narrowed his eyes, his face saying his refusal to trust her words but Rose didn’t say any more words, allowing for him to think for himself whether the words she had uttered was lies as he had accused or the truth that Dominic had never revealed. He thought about his older brother, who was a hot headed person who wouldn’t hesitate to kill.Dominic wasn’t blood thirsty but to keep himself alive, he would kill whatever necessary to keep him alive. Of course there had been many instances where Shawn could feel that if Dominic had killed him, he would be more free. Of course killing him was difficult and his mother wouldn’t stay quiet about it. But knowing Dominic who would put hhis emotions and anger first before finding a way to eliminate evidence, killing him should have been easier.. Yet he didn’t. He didn’t.. he didn’t want to, not because he could not. ‘You believe in her lies?’ Whispered a voice at the back of Shawn’s ears. In fury, Shawn smashed his hand to the nearest p
Shawn narrowed his eyes, slowing stepping backward. Rose noticed that her words did an effect to him, causing him to move backward out of fear of her magic. She didn’t expect for him to be scared by her words and perhaps he wouldn’t be as much frightened as now if she hadn’t told him the truth about Dominic, he would still remain unfazed by her words.Shawn gritted his teeth, raising his hand, “Move for the last time!” “I said no,” Rose’s green eyes turned lighter in color as she responded to him in a fiercer tone. “I won’t repeat that twice.” Shawn angrily turned the same hand he had raised into a fist, tightening his fingers enough for his fingernails to draw blood from his skin. He ignored the pain, muttering a small whisper of magic.Rose saw the blood drops that fell on the floor began to shake as a creature pushed it body out from the floor. Rose shuddered when seeing the creepy eyes of the gargoyle but something was different with the gargoyle that he had summoned compared to
Dominic had rose to his seat again. A while ago when his eyes were closed, he could hear Rose’s voice. She sounded so distressed that it worried him. Yet for some unknown reasons, he couldn’t open his eyes or find Rose around him. Dominic hated the feeling of being chained but he knows that he couldn’t wake up no matter what. Just then he heard a weak howl coming from his back. His eyes turned behind him, understanding that he wasn’t in the physical world but somewhere inside his mind.. or perhaps his own heart. The howl began to sound clearer despite of how weak it was. He pushed his feet to move, striding toward the sound of the howl that began to appear like a soft cry of small pup. At first he didn’t feel anything to hear the cry but his heart ache to hear the whimper of the animal that sounded broken, as though abandoned. Walking toward the source of the voice, he found the wounded wolf that had sprawled on the ground. From its eyes were tears that continued to stream down.
Dominic never knew that this whole time he had been thinking the way he did until his wolf had pointed this part of him. Dominic looked at the reflection of himself, raising the question he had kept in his mind, “Why do you look like a child?” His wolf raised his hand, his finger pointing straight at him, “You are a child.”“In your eyes maybe but I’m sure I’m not as young as you look like now in appearance,” Dominic raised his confusion. He thought that his wolf should look similar to him as Starvos told him that wolf is a perfect reflection of a person with the only difference being their wolf are more truthful to their desire, something that most people would hide in their heart. “You are supposed to die in this age,” the wolf said, pressing his hand to his chest, “But someone helped you, making sure that you live longer until now.” Dominic raised his eyebrows, confused by what the wolf meant, “I should have died in that age? Why?” The wolf stared at him in silence, uttering n
Dominic rushed forward, wanting to snatch that bastard of a brother he had and kill him here and there. At first he thought there would be a way to resolve everything without having to kill Shawn but he changed his mind. Shawn needed to be killed. He was the whole danger in this matter, even worse when compared to his father. Shawn managed to leave by a hair’s breadth, disappearing from the place with his gargoyles. Angrily, Dominic smashed the nearby table. He was mad by the fact he had lost consciousness in the middle of the chaos and had left Rose alone to fend for herself. He was also filled with rage with the idea that dangers still wouldn’t stop anytime soon. He immediately turned around, finding Rose who looked frozen in her place. Not knowing what had made her so shocked, he gently paced toward her. His big hands covered her small back and his eyes were filled with warmth as he stared at her, “Are you alright?” Rose finally snapped from her own thoughts. She turned her
Rose felt her mother’s embrace and tightly hugged her back. She who had been holding her tears finally felt the water slyly escaping from her green eyes. She held her mother’s hands, making sure that she was alright as well. Mr Maury felt so relieved his legs almost gave away. Seeing Dominic, the man smiled and rested his hand on his shoulder, “Thank heaven you are save too. We, the elders, would never die at peace if any one of you leave this world before us.” “Oh dear! Don’t jinx us!” Mrs. Maury snapped at once. Dominic felt the hand on his shoulders to be warmth, something he didn’t expected. He didn’t expected to see anyone rejoicing of his safety other than Rose’s.“How did you acquire the pike, mother?” Rose asked for her mother to frown. “You know that big handsome knight? The one with silver eyes—”“Starvos,” Rose said which her mother confirmed by nodding her head eagerly. “Where is he now?” “He said that he needed to find you two and left but that’s all that we know.
