chapter sixty-nine

I arrived home, noticing the unsettling silence within. Did Olivia fall asleep without our usual routine? How is that possible? I went to the room, and even Emily was sleeping. I kissed them both and left so as not to wake them.

I heard strange noises coming from the service area and went closer to see. Were those moans? Justin's? Wow. He must be with Josh. I stepped back and waited for them to come out into the kitchen. After fifteen minutes, Justin appeared looking a bit embarrassed.

"Where's Josh?" I asked.

"Josh?" He looked scared and started to sweat.

"Wasn't he with you?" I furrowed my brow indignantly.

"Tyler, I need to show you something in the office." He tried to get me out of the kitchen as quickly as possible, but I refused, feeling suspicious.

Suddenly, Jade entered the kitchen from the same place, wiping off smudged lipstick. I clenched my hands on the table, on the verge of exploding. I could feel the veins popping on my forehead, and anger took over me at that moment.
