**Emily's POV**

"How come I have to stay in the emergency room?" I repeat the same question to my boss. "Or better, how come I have to replace the emergency room pediatrician?"

"You graduated to be a doctor, so be one," the old woman stands up and points to the door.

"But I'm a resident; I can't do this."

"I'm sure you'll do fine. Now, I believe you have patients to attend to," she insists on my leaving once again, and so I do.

"Okay, Emily. No stress. It's just an emergency. Parents going crazy for not being attended to promptly. Kids vomiting from eating something past its expiration date. Kids with something stuck in their noses. Wait, it's Olivia who sticks things up her nose. Every child is like that, I guess. Okay. Nothing to worry about."

"Lola? Anything for me?" I ask the nurse who was handling the records.

"To your delight, we only have a six-year-old boy with a nanny. She says he just stopped breathing normally. Blood pressure is high, and heart rate too, bed five."
