It was a while before I heard conversations reaching my ear. Karis was talking to someone in the front, so I didn't think twice as I slipped into the house. It was late and I couldn't see clearly, so I turned on my Alpha mode, it made my sight sharper and clearer. I went through the house as fast as I could, slipping from one room to another. The huge living room and the chairs on the balcony in the back. The entire ground floor was huge but I was through going from one room to another. I kept one ear out on Karis in the front, listening to their conversations so that I would know when it was time to leave. I would keep the other ear out for any sudden movement other than mine inside the house. I went up the stairs as fast as I could, going in and out of the room but it all came up empty. No one was here.I was done in no time, but there was no sign of anybody in the house except for the guy out front who really wanted Karis to leave.I was about to leave through the side door whe
I ignored her as I walked away into the kitchen. I pulled open several of the pantries, and cupboards. I couldn't find what I was looking for so I opened the fridge instead.I took a bowl and filled it with ice, lots of ice before going to the tap and filling it with water.I walked out of the kitchen and back into the sitting room where I set everything up. karis's eyes were opened and trained on me, watching everything that I was doing.I pulled the chair that I had placed the bowl on closer to the man, then cracked my hands. His face went first into the huge bowl of very cold water, and I left it there while counting the seconds.I was up to five when he started struggling and coughing, he was awake and tried pulling his face out while struggling, but I let it stay there for another five before I finally relented and let his face up.His eyes were wide with panic and fear. When his eyes connected with mine, it widened in shock, before anger."Who the fuck decides to play with the
He went after Karis, switching from cool and detached to deadly within the blink of an eye. He was blur even with my Alpha gaze, so fast I didn't catch his movement until I saw Karis's body slamming through the wall on the other side. He went after her again and again, she tried blocking obviously, but he was too strong, too fast, too everything. My heart rate was through the roof, I felt the distinct taste of death and for the first time in my life I actually feared I was going to die. He was going to kill Karis and then me. All these thoughts went through my head as I watched his hit and kick and claw his way through Karis, completely destroying the furniture and walls of the apartment in the process.I needed to do something, I had to do something or he would actually kill her.I had to do something now! I ran and intercepted one of his attacks, and received the force of his claws on my stomach. He had cut me so deep I felt the taste of blood immediately in my mouth. Karis lay mo
I pulled my head back and howled loud, groaning as I tried transitioning into my wolf as fast as I could. I could see through my periphery as the man that they had ordered to go and prep the others was leaving, he was going to start killing them. I needed to stop him immediately. My elbow connected with the man holding me as I hit him really hard, he grunted and the force of his hand on my neck left me. I turned around with all of my focus on the person that had just left. I ran straight through all the men that had gathered and over the table and then to the door, following the man as fast as I could. I could hear shouts of orders behind me and somewhere far away.I heard men speaking in Vishyan as they all ran towards where I was.I was next to the man I was following in no time and had his neck in my grasp, breaking it in one second. My vision was hazy and my mouth watered with the need for all of the men to be dead, by my hands. I turned around and saw several of the men snarli
"I know," I replied softly, my eyes going back to all the scenes in front of me.This was a good thing, and I was doing a good thing for the world. Helping the way that I could. I wasn't an expert yet and I wasn't all rainbows and flowers, but I was learning slowly."How are you feeling right now?" He asked, looking back at me closely."Good. feel better than I would have normally. I did use the Queen inside me to fight, and on a normal day I would be very exhausted and would need a few hours to recuperate" I replied."Yeah. I am glad too, you do look better than before" he said."Mmm. And of course there is this fact that it didn't cause absolute destruction on the whole world again. You should know" I said the last part sarcastically. letting him know that I was aware. His body stiffened for a second before he looked at me."Commander Susan has told you" he breathed out. He looked away before looking back at me."Let me explain," he added, beginning to look scared and frustrated."T
I pulled the duvet off me and came down from the bed, my legs walking bare on the floor as I walked out of the room and searched for the bathroom. I needed to do my business and clean up, after I was done I went into the surrounding hallway. Where are all the guys? Where did they all disappear to?The floor was quiet, as if there was nobody there. I walked all the way around till I found the stairs at the end of the hall and made my way down the stairs. I finally met all the guys in the kitchen talking and eating pizza."Hey. I am so hungry" I said the moment I got close."Hey""Cassie. You are up""Are you okay?"They all asked, I ignored them and went to the tap and got me a glass of water before settling on one of the chairs to eat."I am okay. I have been asleep for a few hours so I feel better now" I said to them as I took a slice and started eating."What's happening? What were you guys talking about?" I asked them finally, after I had swallowed the bite in my mouth."Did you k
I looked out the plane and watched the faint buildings down below as they moved past. We were finally done with our first mission and we were finally going back to the academy. The snores of Karis and some of the guys drifted to where I sat, I looked away from the window and looked into the plane. It was in the early part of the morning and all the guys had finally gone to sleep. The chatter that had filled the plane earlier had slowly drifted down as they all succumbed to the tiredness that beckoned them. I was most likely the only person that was awake.Maybe some of the commanders were still awake, because at some point words would drift to where I was.I was sleepy and very tired, but I didn't want to drift from my subconscious. I couldn't sleep for two reasons. One was the fact that I had slept off most of the afternoon and early night earlier. Second was the fact that he was waiting for me there, always waiting.I wanted to prevent seeing Hades for as long as I could help it,
School activities ensued as usual, classes resumed and I and Emily had to work extra hard to catch up on all the things we had missed. You would think it was only two weeks worth of school work but that wasn't all. There was as much training as well as tests that we had missed. And it was a very exerting period as we had to catch up with the rest of our mates.I had worried that things would change in school if we went back, but apparently I had nothing to worry about because everyone acted like we hadn't gone on a super deadly mission and came back alive. I wouldn't say that I was the same and I couldn't say the same for the guys that went with me. We had definitely changed, the mission had definitely made us better, sharper and more cautious of things, and it had also made things worse.I could see all that reflecting in my training, how the mission had shaped us to be better, how I reacted quickly and how I made better decisions. I could say the same thing for Emily. We had gro
