the rejection

Chapter 2

    Lia's POV

"You want a divorce?" My brows knitted in confusion.

“Why do you want to divorce me, Levi? I haven't done anything wrong."  voice quivering as I spoke.

"How many times do I have to repeat to you that I want a divorce, is that how dumb you are?" He shouted in my face.

I gasped, his words hit me like a bullet. I knew our marriage was doomed to end one day but I didn't expect it to be this soon.

Not now. That I had a baby on the way. I must reconcile with him for my baby. Tightening my fists, I fell to my knees without thinking much of It.

Tears stung at the corner of my eyes but I blinked them away. I grabbed a hold of his leg.

"What the hell are you doing?" He screams in my face as he tries to yank his leg from me, but I hold on tight.

"Lia." He groans.

Tears fell from my face as I lifted my head.

"Levi, please don't do this. Please. I'll stop bothering you, I promise. I'll do whatever you want me to do. Just please don't leave me. I can't live without you, please. Don't break us." My voice broke as I spoke.

He stared down at me with an indecipherable expression.

"There is no us  ."

I grasped his leg, seeking a reaction.

He pulled away aggressively, making me hit the ground hard. I sprung up immediately and walked after him.

"Levi, don't do this to us. Please!”He stopped and turned.

"Don't you get it, there's no us, Lia." He grasped my wrist.

"I'll say this one last time so you better listen attentively. It was my father that set us up and he is dead now.

I didn't know what he saw in you and I don't care.

He is dead and this thing between us has come to an end. I can never be with a wolf-less  bitch like you."

I stayed on the floor shedding tears as I watched his retreating figure. It all seems like a bad nightmare. I couldn't believe our marriage was over.

I rubbed my belly slightly as I remembered my unborn child. The only symbol of my marriage with Levi and I cried harder.

I didn't want my child to grow up without a father, but I was sure Levi wouldn't believe me if I told him I was pregnant now.

I crawled to the file and picked it up. There was no use telling him about the baby.

My hands shook as I scanned the divorce papers with my eyes. I placed a hand on my belly and took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry," I said softly as I rubbed my stomach.  I put my signature on the papers.

There was no use telling him about the baby when he wanted nothing to do with me now.

My eyes scanned the divorce papers. I took a deep breath before putting my signature on it. A stray tear fell out of my eyes.

As if on cue, Levi walks out just as I have signed the divorce paper. I glared at him and handed the papers to him.

“Good.” He said. I sensed a slight edge in his voice but I didn't read much into it.

I turned to go out of the room when the door opened and Kira stepped in. Kira has been his friend since childhood and is also a good friend of mine.

Kira walked up to Levi without sparing me a glance. She kissed him passionately. My mouth hung open in surprise as I watched the scene unfold before me.

I started putting all the pieces together and they started to make sense. Kira's frequent visits to the manor. Why did she always dismiss any attempts I made to get close to Levi? And why she is always in the same room with Levi almost every time.

The signs were crystal clear, but I was so blinded by my trust in both of them that I didn't see it. The bitch has been screwing my husband in my matrimonial home, right under my nose.

My heart stung as the realization dawned on me.

They were still devouring each other without even caring that I was there.

“Kira, you…” the rest of the words died in my mouth as tears streamed down my eyes.

They broke their kiss and Kira stared at me with a victorious smile on her face.

“Hey, Lia. How are you doing? Hope you're not too devastated by the divorce?” She asked with a hint of mockery in her voice.

I swallowed past the lump in my throat.

“You were having an affair with my husband all this while?” I choked out.

“Ex-husband.” She smacked her tongue.

“Besides, Levi has always been mine. You were the one who deluded yourself into thinking he could love you.

You couldn't even produce an heir all these while. Pathetic, woofless, empty vessel.” She chuckled.

My eyes darted between her and Levi, but he didn't even spare me a glance. His mistress had just called me barren and he didn't even blink an eye.

I was so sure he wouldn't protect me and his unborn child even if he knew about it.

I wanted to snap them on their faces but I’m a mother now. I have a baby to protect.

I wiped the tears away and inhaled sharply.

“Good luck to the new Luna. I'm out of here.”

I turned and walked out of the pack house without a single glance at Levi.
