Ann felt the smile leave her face at the same time Isla giggled, skipping out of the room.

No this couldn't be, why was he coming? Or maybe Isla was just joking, it most certainly should be a joke. She wasn't ready to face Lucas and especially not after what happened yesterday. How was she supposed to face him in the presence of her family? She wasn't sure she could hold back seeing him and not wanting to punch his stupidly handsome face.

She growled, slapping her palm over her face. The day was going nothing like she planned. Today was supposed to be Lucas free day now she was going to have to deal with him all day.

Today was definitely going to suck, Ann could tell. She grabbed her phone on the dresser and began to tap on the screen, scrolling through the names in search of the very person on her mind and she immediately felt relief the instant she found it.

She dialed the number and placed it against her ear with a deep sigh.

Lucas exhaled through his nose, his hands gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles slowly began to grow pale.“Pick up, you fool,” he grunted out, glaring at his phone placed on the car seat beside him. But just about when he was about to reach for his phone and hang up, the phone beeped signifying that there was an answer.“What took you so long, idiot?” Lucas sneered, glaring at the view in front of him, imagining it to be his stupid best friend.“Whoa someone's in a bad mood and so early this morning too,” his best friend, Shane teased with his voice filled with laughter. “What got your pants twisted this time?”Lucas scoffed, narrowing his gaze on nothing in particular. “My pants wouldn't be twisted if you hadn't gotten me this frustrated. What took you so long to pick up?”“I had to excuse myself, wouldn't want anyone eavesdropping on our conversation.” Shane said cockily as if he was expecting Lucas to begin apologizing and thank him.“You are delusional.”“Where are you by

The atmosphere of the Sinclair's family dining room was very tense and morose, except for Isla of course, who was barely able to contain her excitement with a huge smile adorned on her soft features. Ann glanced at her cousin with a deep frown wanting to be irritated at her because it was very obvious who had suggested this breakfast to her father. Isla was dressed in a red gown that clung to her features but not too much to her features. It was like Isla was doing her best not to attract too much attention this time but Ann could never understand what was going on in her cousin's head. It was like she was in her own dimension. “Master Lucas has arrived.”The gatekeeper announced before disappearing into the hallway but only to appear again with Lucas by his side. Ann ignored the squeak of excitement coming from her cousin and focused her attention on Lucas. Her eyes trailed over his frame to take in his suit clad body before moving up to rest on his face. If it wasn't because she

The moment Ann finally managed to keep her tears in was about the same time Lucas moved to settle on the available seat beside her. She stiffened up a bit but easily snapped out of it, quickly gathering her composure. She held back the urge to glare at Lucas knowing fully well it would prolong matters and get her parents angrier, knowing they would back up Lucas made her feel worst than she already did. “Excuse me,” she mumbled under her breath, shoving her chair back harshly and rising to her feet. She needed breathing space.Without waiting for anyone's reply she grabbed her phone and exited the place hurriedly with a huge frown on her face. She hated Lucas. Was this all a game to him? Why on earth would he bring up the matter, especially in front of her parents? A part of her wanted to be happy that Lucas thought about apologizing but the other rational part of her cursed him for his bullshit timing. Ann stormed into her room, glaring at everything in sight. She couldn't believe

Lucas sat awkwardly still at the dining table, trying his hardest to keep his eye on the plate of food that had been presented before him. He couldn't believe that he almost threw himself into a dilemma but the real shock was the fact that Ann hadn't spilled the beans to her family. Hadn't that been the reason why she had rushed to her family's house to begin with? He couldn't believe he had been wrong and he couldn't believe that he stressed himself so much over nothing. As much as the situation was embarrassing, Lucas was flooded with relief. Now the real question was why his wife hadn't told on him. She was probably plotting something. A shudder ran down his spine at the thought of Ann threatening him with what she had against him. He risked a peep at Ann's parents and flinched with surprise when he found Mr. Sinclair's eyes fixed on him with a certain intensity he couldn't place.“How has Ann been? I hope she hasn't been causing you any trouble?”It was Mrs. Sinclair who spoke u

“That bitch is crazy,” Lucas snarled with his eyes narrowed into slits as he paced before his best friend. His shoulders were stiff and his fingers clenched, he looked ready to let out some anger steam any moment.“I bet she's hot.” Shane said, as he took in his friend's agitated appearance with a smirk.“No! She is definitely not hot. The right word for her is crazy, she and that crazy cousin of hers,” Lucas gritted out.“Let me get this straight, your beloved wife doesn't bust your ass with her parents and instead just tells her cousin and you're ranting?” Shane quizzed with a questioning look, “It appears that I still don't get you, Lucas.”Lucas stopped pacing and turned so he was now fully facing Shane with a harsh expression on his face. “Could you stop emphasizing on that one good thing?”Shane shook his head. “I simply can't. The venue was decorated elegantly with dark, glowing colors that complemented the flashy dresses worn by the guests. Ann Sinclair sat still where her mother had placed her, twirling a glass of wine between her fingers while her eyes stayed fixed on the man, Lucas Montgomery standing at the other end of the hall. She huffed as Lucas conversed with the women that surrounded him while he paid no attention to the woman he just married. In frustration, she drowned the wine in her cup as she took her time to study her new husband; Lucas Montgomery. He stood out perfectly amongst the guests, dressed impeccably in a black fitted three-piece suit that clung to his muscular build. Lucas made his way to the bathtub with a deep furrow between his brows. His mind wandered once more to Ann as he loosened the tap to fill it with water and began to pull off his clothes. What could his wife be playing at? One moment she was angry with him and next acting suspiciously nice. It was the same yesterday when she came back with the car instead of leaving him stranded, it was these moments that confused him. Why would Ann act nice despite everything especially not with what happened yesterday? These thoughts that filled his mind were heavy, weighing him down.He settled into the bathtub, his loud groan echoing through the bathroom as he slapped his palm over his face.He hated this feeling. If Ann hated him then she should stick to showing it instead of causing confusion.“Fuck! Get out of my head.” He growled out through gritted teeth, glaring up at the ceiling. It was merely business, nothing more. Lucas reminded himself stubbornly, that there was nothing more to think a
