Rising tensions

Noir glanced at Chris who arrived at the spot, gazing at him like a hawk looking at its prey.

Chris also glanced at her, and their eyes met. He almost backed away out of fear.

“I-is anything wrong, Miss Noir?” he stuttered in response.

Noir just smiled. “No, nothing is wrong with me.”

“You must be imagining things.”

“Oh, then alright.”

Richard cleared his throat and dialed Robin’s number.

He was taking too much time to pick it up. So, he called again.

Robin was in the garden picking up laundry so he didn’t hear his phone ringing.

Richard ended the call and called again.

This time Robin came inside the room and heard his phone ringing on the table.

Seeing this he rushed to its side in a hurry.

He stared at the screen only to see his dad’s number flashing on the screen.

“What? Why’s he calling me now?”.

After a moment of hesitation, he picked up his call.

“You finally picked up son.”

“Yes, I did.”

“Why are you calling me suddenly?” he retorted back.
