"Are you really going to allow them to help you?" I ask Rand in shock before we get back to the group.

"Of course I am. I might not trust them but I know that they will not try to attack us with you close by. They have destroyed our lives enough to start paying us back by helping us rebuild. If I would have known that they were going to do this I might have stayed where we were but I would wonder every day if they were really being sincere or not. At least I can trust them a little more while you are near." He says to me with a grateful smile.

I cannot help but feel humbled by his thought process. I was never trying to take on any more responsibilities but having somebody place this amount of trust in me is something that I will never get used to. They deserved every bit of help that I was able to give them and more. If I had known what was going on sooner then I might have already had them set up elsewhere. Still, I will continue to do everything in my power to help them feel safe.
