After obsessing over what I have going on the following day for a few hours, I finally manage to pass out. My awareness is still stretched out to the max so that I am able to keep an eye on everything, even in my sleep. I only got woken up once when a pack of wild coyotes come into the area. They must have been familiar with werewolves though because as soon as they caught our scent, they steered clear of us. I awoke early enough to see the sun rise in the distance. It is an absolutely gorgeous display of pink and orange. Hopefully, this is a sign that the day is going to go well. Once the sun is fully risen, the moon is still visible in the other side of the sky, The Moon Goddess is definitely keeping an eye on us today. That thought warms me as I begin to move around and wake the other two."What is the game plan for today then?" Dante asks me. "Are we going to wait a while to see if he shows back up or we just going to rush in there?""I think, that being pregnant, I need some nou
"I thought that my head of security asked you to wait until we came for you?" The Alpha says to us sharply. "I am sorry. My mate here is pregnant, she just needs to rest and get some proper nourishment. We planned to wait but she got so uncomfortable that we had to come and talk to you earlier." Dante explains with a gesture to me.I still have not taken my eyes off my father although I have managed to school my expression better. As soon as his eyes meet mine I see a small spark of recognition, although he still does not move towards me. Instead, his eyes narrow slightly as he studies me. At first I thought for sure that he recognized me but now I am not quite so sure."If there is a pregnant Luna then we are obligated to bring you into the pack house. Please, come with us. Do not get left behind. Things here are not as peaceful as they seem." The Alpha says."I am sorry but, what is going on here? I have never seen a pack like this? Where are the kids and the rest of the pack membe
When the Alpha finally comes back, he brings bags of food. There are sandwiches, chips, cashews, and drinks. It looks like he just came back from the store. Where the store is though, I have no idea. He did not actually leave the building as far as I could tell. Then again, I was a little too focused on my father to focus on what the Alpha was doing. "I brought you back what I could find. I would love to offer you a warm meal but I am unable to do it at this time. I am sorry but things are not going well here." The Alpha says."I understand that you are in a difficult spot. As fellow Alpha can you possibly tell me what is going on. Maybe just some of it? I have heard that you have been having problems with the witches. Does it all come from that?" Dante asks concernedly. The other Alpha stares at him for a while deliberating. There has to be more than just the normal witch problem going on with how the entire pack is behaving. Normally packs do not hide just because of a witch proble
My father stares mutely at me for a bit before finally shaking himself out of it. Literally, too. He shakes his head slightly before he is able to say anything."I was really hoping that you would not say that. We can not allow any magic users in this pack. I am afraid that you are going to have to leave after your meal." He says to me sadly. After all of this time, he is going to make me leave. I have been blinded by the fact that as my father he has to still love me. Apparently, that does not mean anything to him as he stares at me in shock and sadness. I guess that even though the same blood runs through our veins, he is just going to kick me out and that will be the end of it."If that is what you want then I guess that is what will have to happen. I came here searching for the father that I remember from my childhood. I guess that guy really did die like I had always assumed until recently. Thank you for making it quick instead of waiting to tell me later. In fact, we will leave
"Why would they be afraid of you!" The Alpha shouts from behind us.Instead of answer, we just continue walking in the same direction we came from. There is no need to explain myself anymore. I want to get out of here before my emotions get the best of me. I am not going to allow myself to break down and cry in front of my father. I am bigger than that. I can cry later when I am surrounded by those that actually love me."What happened?" Dante asks quietly."Her father happened. I had quite a few words that I wanted to say to him but I am pretty sure that Laina handled it." Amora says proudly.Opening up our mind link more, I play the memory back for him. I let him see everything that my father said to me and what I said back to him. As we walk, Dante reaches over and rubs my hand soothingly."What did they mean that the witches will be attacking soon?" I ask him."I guess that they attack everyday at from 10 in the morning until noon. They do it to try to get your father to give him
Dante and Amora rush over towards me. I barely give my father a glance as we turn away swiftly. He does not need my attention any longer. I do not know why I was hoping that after everything he would have been a kind and caring man. Apparently, I do not know my father as well as I had thought I had."Wait!" The Alpha cries out.I do not turn back towards him but I do stop for a moment. I am not sure what he could have to say that would make me stay any longer but I can give him a shot. He is not the one that hurt me. As far as I know, he has been as welcoming as he could given the circumstances."What?" I ask hesitantly.Dante reaches for my hand again as we wait for him to speak. I glance up at him and see his eyes full of concern for me. He might know what all happened but there is no way for me to describe the feelings right now. Knowing my father wants me gone hurts more than I ever cared to admit."What did you do to those witches? They have been bothering us for years. How did y
After hesitantly accepting Rand's offer to stay for a little longer, Dante, Amora and I all head back through the town with him. My father keeps shooting me looks that I cannot decipher while Eric looks completely intrigued by all of it. I am sure that this type of thing does not happen often, or ever honestly."So, how did you find us?" Rand asks us politely."My grandmother managed to track him down. Not quite sure how but she told me where to find him and even told me about your battles with the witches. That is why she did not come as well. She did not think that a witch would be accepted." I explain. There was no need to say who the "he" was. Everybody knows exactly who I am talking about as they all turn towards my father and study him briefly. He at least has the decency to squirm a little under our scrutiny."I wonder how she managed to find me. I thought that I had hid my tracks well." He finally says to us all.I am completely caught off guard by this. Why had he tried to hi
It is hard to focus as we finish our walk back to the pack house. Nobody bothers talking or trying to be polite for the rest of the walk. It is completely silent. Completely tense as well. It only takes us a few more moments to get back to the pack house without any interactions between the six of us.Once we get to the pack house, we all clutter inside the entry way. I shift uncertainly as almost everyone's attention is on both my father and myself. The tension in the air could be cut with a knife. Nobody speaks as well all take turns looking between ourselves, questioning what to do next."You invited us to stay. So, now what?" I ask Rand defensively."Now, we need to rest for a while before we try to get to the bottom of what really happened all of those years ago. We all know that something did. Until we learn the full story from both of you nobody will be able to look for forgiveness. After what you did for the pack with the witches, we owe you some closure for sure." Rand says t
