Preparing for the Witch Council to visit is not an easy task. I have to make sure that they have accomodations, a private kitchen and I have to make sure that the witches are all ready for their visit as well. We want to prove that we are a completely competent Coven so we also want to make sure that we have classrooms ready for our novice witches to practice in. There is a huge list of things to get done before they show up. It would be nice if we had a more set time than a week's window. Elle is working on making the classrooms with some of the girls while I am working on the quarters for the council. Seeing as how I have never been in a tradition witch's classroom it makes more sense for me to work on their living quarters. Plus, I can make all of their rooms in the same amount of time that it takes the others to make the classrooms. Not wanting to offend them by making too simple of bedrooms, I follow the pattern that we used through the rest of the house into their rooms. Everyt
Even though we went to the store with every intention of getting stuff for the Witch Council we somehow managed to spend just as much money on the baby. He might have all of the essentials but I definitely went on a spending spree for him. He has an entire wardrobe to grow into as well as tons of toys that he cannot even play with yet. Luckily Dante is loaded or else there is no way that this would have worked otherwise. Since the witches regard children differently than they do grown ups, I take Scarlett and Ulfred with me to unload all of the supplies. When I pull up Hazel and her group of friends walk out to help me but stop short when they see Scarlett get out and walk over to Ulfred. None of them move as she slings a wrap around her and places him in it gently. After she gets him situated Hazel approaches slowly. "Um...you are the one that we ambushed right?" She asks hesitantly. When Scarlett nods Hazel hangs her head and says, "I wanted to apologize for my part in it. I did n
As one all of the doors on the vehicles open up and feet slide out. Even though they required 5 rooms there are more than that number of occupants. Each one has an elegant shoe followed by an equally elegant persona. They all have matching black closed toed shoes that look recently polished but that is where the similarities end.The first lady steps out slowly wearing a pencil skirt suit and looking all business. Her hair is a raven black, she has high cheek bones and forest green eyes. Something about her demeanor and the way that she moves tells me that she is in charge. The other four girls form a V behind her as they join her.The next witch has red hair and blue eyes. She looks almost the opposite from the first witch did. Something about her makes me want to fall asleep listening to her talk. Her eyes are almost dull which I hope is not an indication to her personality. She is wearing a pant suit combo where everybody else is wearing some type of dress or skirt. There is also a
For dinner I decide that I will order some Italian food from the restaurant that Dante and I have enjoyed so much. We will make our own salads for each person with vegetables out of our now thriving garden. Each of the witches in the Coven come in to help me prepare all of the food that we are going to be eating. They also make sure to set the table with dishes so that everything is ready and as close to formal as I have ever eaten.Dante is still not too thrilled about not joining us for dinner since I have not broken the news to the Council yet. While I am not exactly hiding the fact that I am a werewolf as well, I did not think that was something that I should have blurted out the minute that we all met. That could have been akin to starting a war right away. "Laina, I got everything clean for you. Do you want me to deliver it all to the Council or is that something that you want to do?" Elle says walking up to me."I will do it. I do not want them to think that I am afraid of t
There is a shocked silence in the room after I reveal my heritage. It is almost deafening just looking around at all of them staring at me in silence. Nobody says anything for what feels like an hour even though it is most likely only a couple of minutes before finally..... "Excuse me, are you saying that you are a werewolf and a witch?" Katrin asks me slowly. I nod my head mutely but make sure to hold their eye contact so that they know that I am not afraid of them. This might not quite be the way that I wanted to tell them but it sure is how it happened and there is no taking it back. Now that it is out I have to deal with the consequences. I do make sure to keep the mind link open to Dante in case they need to make a run for it at all. "Is this why you are located so close to a pack of wolves?" Simonetta asks with a deadly quiet. Raising my chin slightly I answer, "Yes, it is. That is my pack as well. I recently met my mate and he is the one that convinced me that it is time to
I immediately head up to my room to grab a change of clothes before we all sit down to dinner. I might be used to being in the nude being a werewolf but I do prefer my clothes on me. Especially when I eat food.I open up my door and I am immediately engulfed in a huge wolfy hug. Dante wraps his arms around me and holds me while the strength goes out of my legs. Picking me up, he walks me over to the bed and sits the both of us down on it."I thought you could use a hug after that. You were absolutely amazing. I know that you did not want me here but I could not leave you completely alone to face them down that way. It was too much fun to watch from that far away." He tells me while stroking my hair.Smiling, I trace his jaw with my finger and say, "I am glad that you came. What they are doing to those wolves must be horrible if they are breaking them from acting like a wolf anymore. That is not normal. It is extremely difficult to break a wolf's spirit like that.""I know. You will fi
"Laina, we would like to run some tests with you. We do believe that you are a hybrid at this point but we would also like to see proof that you talk to our Goddess the way that you say you do. That is not something that we can just believe without proof." Safiya says."I really do not see why you need any more proof. The fact that I am even alive should be proof enough. What I did to Morden is even more proof. I can fetch her if you would like to ask her yourself." I offer them.I can tell that all of the way down the table the Coven is listening to what is going on between the Council and myself. They are trying to pretend to be preoccupied with their food but in reality they are almost all leaning closer to us to hear better."Morden is still here? Normally when somebody takes down a Wiccan they are outcasted. Why did you keep her here? Aren't you afraid that she is going to try and retaliate?" Viola asks flabbergasted."Not at all. Once you talk to her you will understand that wha
After the Council members make their exit I turn to Elle with a brow raised. She watches the door for a while before turning back to me. We both take a look at the rest of the Coven watching us closely before continuing. I do not want the wrong Coven members to gain information that could be used against me in any way. "You handled that very well. It is quite shocking that they did not attack you the moment that you said you are a hybrid. That is certainly what I had been expecting. I will take this though. This way we have a chance. A chance to prove to them that you are blessed as you are." Elle says. "That is true. I think I might have shocked them too much for them to respond right away. If I allow them to get their bearings then they might change the way that they are handling things. We will just have to try to keep them on their toes at all times." I tell her. She nods at that and does not say any more. I am sure that once I head up to bed she will meet me and we can talk som
