Not because I think that we cannot handle it, but because I worry about how the men are going to react. Having the women go on patrol on their own might have been easier but then we would not have the benefit of experience on our side.
Dante thought that having Kevin lead our excursion and having another male that is a little more open minded with us might be helpful so we all gather close to the woods by the packhouse. There is Kevin, Quin, a couple of male warriors that I am not familiar with and then me and two of the females. Most of the patrols are only 3 people total but now that we will have more wolves available we will be increasing the size of the patrols as well as the frequency of them.

As I race towards my den, I keep my awareness spread out for any surprise attacks. I have had enough of those when I was training with Elle at her house in the mountains. They managed to get the upper hand on me a couple of times but now I am ready for them.I crouch behind a bush as I get close to my den. After delivering the supplies to Elle, Dante and I continue to do a sweep of our territory along with as many spare wolves as we can find. Every female that has been training with me as well as some of the teenagers are out helping us as well. Even without witch powers we are hoping that with their knowledge of the area they will be able to tell if something is amiss. The very next dawns almost as if nothing had happened. Except for the fact that when Julia meets me at the gym, she tells me that Elle went straight to the den to work on studying the runes. Elle seems a little distracted when we get to the house to work on our lesson with her. All she does is hand us each a couple of rudimentary books on runes and tell us to start studying. About half an hour into the lesson she then hands out some sheets with runes on them that she wants us to translate. It is slow work that takes quite a while for us to translate but eventually we get the sheets figured out.Each one that she handed us translates into a simple spell. After we translate them she has us copy and perfect each one. Even the wrong placement of a line by a centimeter can change the entire spell so she checks them over and has us redo them until she deems them to be absolutely perfect. "Well, now that dinner is over we should get the patrols started. Sorry Julia but I will have to have you return to the house. You do not have to stay there but without one of us around I do not want any of the wolves to think that you are fair game for any reason. We start out following the same route as the night before. None of the wolves in my patrol are the ones that were with me last night thankfully. I do not want them thinking that every time I go out on patrol I am going to do something strange.We fan out and follow the same general idea as the last time that we went out. We make sure that the men stick with the women and show them what all to look out for. There is not quite enough wolves for anybody to be paired with me but after years of living in these woods I think I can manage a simple patrol.As we approach the den, I send my awareness deeper into the den. When we get back to the pack house to swap out patrols I see the next set of patrols eyeing me a little differently. They must have all been gossiping about what had happened through their mind link. It did not take long at all for the Hybrid Council to arrive. They all file in looking a little shocked to see Simonetta there, unable to use her magic as she floats slightly in the air. Simonetta rushes towards me using wind to guide her speed. It is not enough to throw me off guard though and I shove a wall of dirt up in front of me. She almost crashes into it before she is able to skid to a stop at the last second. Each team splits up and gets ready to make their way through the obstacle course. They are all going to have to take turns trying to make it through safely. Each team has a designated amount of time before they get elminated. The one that makes it through the fastest and with the least amount of mistakes, will be the ones to win the competition. The course is very similar to the one that we did with the entire pack when we first started training. The one that really got the women moving faster as they fought to make good time through the course to beat the men. This one is just a little more geared towards children and not fully grown adults.Some of the obstacles are smaller to better accomodate their size, some things are closer together and they have even added some new obstacles that would have been difficult for the adults. It takes much longer than planned to get the babies ready for travel. I have never packed a diaper bag before but luckily Scarlett shows up to help me get them ready and squeal over the twins for a minute. The first night with the babies was quite a bit of a learning curve. Whenever we put them in their bassinets they just started to cry nonstop until we picked them up again. It took a couple of hours to find out that if we put them into the same bassinet they were able to sleep peacefully and not wake us up. By the time we managed learning that, I was beyond exhausted and ready to sleep. Chelsea comes running in once the babies start to cry for food. Her face is filled with excitement as she rushes over to me.
