“Tell me, what happened?”

She asked again as she squatted in front of the boy who wiped away tears from his face with the back of his hands. He was only four yet he seemed to want to hold everything in. Perhaps it was because he did not want to upset his mother.

“The other kids were laughing at me.”

She knew immediately what this was about and she stood up, determined to go give his teacher a piece of her mind but the boy held her hands. He knew what she was about to do and also knew that it would only make things difficult for him.

“I’ll be fine but why can’t you stay find me my dad.

She sighed. He was just a little boy and would not understand how complicated it is.
