Alpha Lor
“The visitors are here.” Ken, my delta and third in command relays.
“I’ll be with them shortly.”
I felt them cross into my territory, two people that piqued my interest, familiar and yet not.
I had plans today, and I’m annoyed they will be derailed by their presence. We so rarely have guests however, so this must be very important. I fix my tie and prowl for the door. They are already waiting for me and I cock my head as I place a hand on the knob. It is shit timing for my wolf to wake, and it is never a good sign when his focus sharpens like now.
“We’ll make this short.” I tell Ken and we step in.
“I hope you didn’t wait long.” I begin and stop in my tracks.
She stares at me in shock beside her escort. I am just as surprised, and I don’t surprise easily. My mate.
‘Mate!’ My wolf roars in my breast, practically beating his chest with ecstasy.
‘Be silent!’ I hiss but it’s useless. The beast has awoken again, because of her. He beats and rattles at his cage, demanding to be let out and my body tenses with the effort of keeping him contained.
“Is this the goddess’ idea of a joke?” I snarl, alarming Ken who must think I’m being rude to strangers.
She glares right back at me, not looking too thrilled with this development either.
“It is. The lamest joke in all of Centuria.” She says with a depreciating laugh.
“Alpha, do you know her?” Ken asks.
“Oh I do.” I say. “Leave us. You too.” I tell her escort.
His lips are tight with fear but he looks at her for confirmation and she nods. I wait for the door to close behind them before I cross the distance to her. She is just as beautiful as I remember, even more. Her innocence radiates out from her, calling to my darkness.
I did not scent her presence as I should have when she entered my territory and now I know why. She has no presence.
I puzzle over that as I prowl around her. My wolf can normally feel and scent every single wolf within my territory and even outside it, and we see each of the wolves as threats. But not her. It is almost like she is mortal, except for the teasing scent indicating a wolf that lurks deep within her. With such an extremely weak wolf, I shouldn’t have even been able to recognise her as my mate by scent.
“‘You’ are the demon wolf?” She asks incredulously. When I don’t answer she laughs. “Of course. I should have guessed. A wolf so heartless and so selfish the entire Centuria fears him. Describes you perfectly.”
She is angry, and rightfully so. She is also hurt, though she would rather bite her tongue than admit it. And I’m more than a little impressed at her fearlessness despite her weakness. Her quickened heart gives away her fear and the scent of her sex gives away her desire. Her mere presence overwhelms me, puts me in heat.
I stop in front of her.
“The goddess works mysteriously.” I say, raising a hand to trace her face. This face has been etched into my mind since I left her. She leans into my hand imperceptibly, helplessly. “I have not been able to get you out of my mind.” I murmur, running my hand through her hair. So soft. I can’t stop touching her. The feel of her hair in my fingers, something I only dreamed of a few hours ago makes my huge body shudder. I want her more than my next breath.
“This morning, I made the decision to hunt you down, with nothing but your name.”
Her eyes spark and she shoves at me.
“Why the fuck would you try to look for me?” She hisses. “Why, when you already said you will not claim me as your mate?”
She hits me again when I don’t budge and I grab her arms and jerk her to me. She crashes into my chest and glares at me. All of my strength is focused on not possessing her body right this instant.
“Let me make something clear, female. I am never going to claim you as my mate.” Her eyes shutter. “But it is taking all of my willpower not to bend your ass over and fuck you right this instance. I ‘will’ fuck you, make no mistakes.”
“How dare you?” She snarls, ripping her hands from mine. “How cheap do you think I am? I’m not an easy fuck you bastard.”
“I dare. Because I am your mate, and you are mine.”
Her jaw drops.
“The effrontery! You are truly a demon wolf, you are every bit as cruel as the stories say.”
“I am. And yet you are wet for this demon.”
“What??!” She screeches.
“I can scent your desire for my cock, female. I could probably scent it from a mile away.”
She flushes an adorable pink, all the way to her ears. I want to trace that pattern with my lips, or my cock. If she looks down, the evidence of ‘my’ desire will be unavoidable.
“I would rather fuck a lizard.” She sneers.
Her denial is amusing. She will need some time to make the decision to share my bed. But she will. I drop the topic for now.
“What business brings you to my territory?”
The sudden change of subject flusters her and she takes several steps back to catch her breath.
“Oh yeah.” She clears her throat. “I send regards from my father, the Alpha of Creed pack and his Luna. Our pack is in a dire situation and we were hoping you would have some information that could help us.”
“Tell me more.” I say, leaning against a sturdy table.
Her eyes roam my body appreciatively and when she glimpses the huge straining bulge of my cock, she flushes more and snaps her eyes back to my face. I’ve never seen anyone so adorable and sexy. I would be afraid of scaring her away if I did not already feel her fire. She can take me, she was made for me.
“My pack was attacked by The desiccated wolf hunter.”
My eyes narrow and my concentration sharpens.
“One of ours was killed.” She swallows hard, she knew the victim. “There wasn’t a single trace of his attacker, or any indication of the method of his death other than the state of his body.”
Her vivid blue eyes fix on me.
“Reports said that your pack was also struck by the hunter.” She says and I scowl.
“We were.”
He struck when my beta and I were away on business.
“Well, my pack is currently conducting investigations on the body to see what we can find but any information you can give us from your own investigations would be valuable. We would be sure to share ours when the results have been concluded.”
“You said Creed pack.” I say.
“Yes.”
“Strange.”
“What is?”
“I figured out a pattern to the striking of The desiccated wolf hunter. Creed pack is in the west, and that shouldn’t be touched for another few strikes.”
“You actually figured out a pattern?” She asks excitedly, coming closer. I tense.
“Yes. Not much good now since they struck your pack. That irregularity has upset the entire pattern.”
“Could it be just that then? An irregularity? They could return to the pattern in their next strike.” Her eyes are blazing, and I‘m not comfortable with her investment with the case.
“The more important thing is to figure out why they deviated in the first place. Easier said than done.”
The bastard is a ghost. Not much stumps my wolf but this case has.
“True.” She says, deflating.
“Come with me.”
She eyes me warily but follows and I guide her towards the basement.
“You know it is legally criminal to torture your mate right?” She says as she follows me into the dark depths.
“Rest assured. Everything I want to do with you have nothing to do with pain and everything to do with pleasure.”
She is behind me but I know if I turn around she will be flushing.
“In your dreams.” She mutters.
“A conversation for later.” I say. She may fight me but it is much harder to fight her own body. Death lingers deep down here, the scent usually enough to get my wolf roaring. With him so close to the surface, my thirst for death is a constant pulse in my mind but for once, we don’t act on it.
I show her to the slab.
“What is in it?” She asks, eyeing it warily.
“Brace yourself.” I say and pull it open.
The remains of my man takes up the stone coffin, preserved by our alchemists. The stench is under control but there is no mistaking the waft of death and the repulsive touch of strange magic.
She gags and runs to the side of the room, throwing up everything in her stomach. I slam the coffin closed, cursing. I should have warned her more, or not bring her down here at all.
I hold her hair as she finishes throwing up, stupefied at my actions. Why do I care if her hair falls in her face and her own vomit?
“We’ll head back up.” I say when she finally straightens.
“No I’ll stay.”
“No you won’t.”
“Please.” She grips my arm and turns those bedroom eyes on me. “I can do it.”
I curse under my breath and head back to the slab. It is incredibly harder to resist her than I thought it would be.
I pull it open and watch her closely but she has pulled herself together.
“It’s all...” She whispers in horror.
“Petrified.” I complete for her. “Everything from the inside out.”
“Goddess.” She whispers in horror.
CelineI drain the glass of water he offers, my nose wrinkling at the faint scent of death that still lingers around me. I can’t get the petrified body out of my head. It looked way worse than Hart did, perhaps because it has been petrified longer?“Please tell me everything you know about this.” I tell him. He sits on the opposite seat and watches me so unabashedly I’m flustered. He is the only one that can make such intense staring sexy. “Not much.” He says in his deep baritone voice. I’m trying to concentrate so hard, I am, but my mind is blown away to find him in front of me again. I hate how thrilled I am, I hate how ‘weak’ I am in comparison to him. “Whatever magic is involved, it doesn’t leave any traces we can follow. Twenty one males and seven females have been attacked throughout Centuria and none of them survived. It’s either they never saw the attack coming or they never had a chance to escape. Considering each of them die with pain etched on their faces, I would say it
EmmaWhen I step into the room, the first thing I see is her. Pale smooth skin, full breasts, a short gown that hugs her figure in all the right places, tossed hair, blowjob lips, crackling blue eyes, flushed cheeks and a slightly skewed dress. She radiates innocence and yet she is loaded with sensuality. She is intriguing and so damn beautiful I am livid. What the fuck was she doing here alone with my husband? And what the fuck were they up to before I came in?My smile is sticky sweet on my lips as I enter fully into the room. “I’m so sorry I’m late. I heard we had a visitor so I rushed here as fast as I could.”It is hard to get a whiff of her scent, she is so pathetically weak. I pull my lips back from a sneer and keep the smile. When I finally catch her scent, everything clicks into place. I turn my smile on my unimpressed husband while my brain fires furiously. I’ve scented her before, only once, when she marked him. The audacity of the bitch to follow him all the way to his h
CelineI should have insisted on leaving, that is what a sane, responsible, self-respecting female would do. Then I wouldn’t be looking forward to a cringe morning as I listen to the summons. The Luna would be delighted to see me this morning, a request I cannot turn down.I pull my cargo pants up my waist and shimmy into my top. If I’ll be staying here awhile, might as well be nice to the Luna. I follow the servant to the main living room where she waits for me. “Hello Celine. You look ravishing.” She says with a big smile. First name basis? “So do you.” I say and return her hug. “I’m sorry I was so busy yesterday I couldn’t find the time to give you a tour. I hope you didn’t wait up.”“I didn’t.” “I’m glad. Come with me, I’ll show you around. Our pack house is humble, but it is rich with history.”“It is hardly too humble.” I say with a small laugh. “It is impressive actually.”“You are too kind.” She smiles and shows me around, introducing me to wolves as we pass. “You have n
CelineHe does not question me, he takes my lips, dominating them in a way that makes my body tingle. The kiss is not soft this time, it is hard and demanding. I feel like I am trying to stamp out the traces of a woman that is imprinted there. Emma.I pull back and back away but his hand lashes and grips my arm. “You cannot deny your body much longer. Submit to me Celine, I promise I will give you all your body’s desires.”My body clenches with the need to do just that. To say fuck it and let him fuck me out of his system. But I’m scared witless that one more fuck and I will reduce my expectations of myself and settle for sex. I don’t want just sex with him. I want this powerful male to be mine, all mine. I jerk my arm from his and back away. “What the fuck are you doing in my room? Why are you torturing me like this? I am your mate, why the fuck do I have watch helplessly as another woman lays claim to you?”He crosses his arms. “You’ve been with Emma?”“Unbind yourself from her
CelineI don’t leave the next day, even as I call myself all types of fool. Who knew? This mating thing is miserable business. I thought my day couldn’t get worse. Horny, angry and far from home. That was before Emma brushed into my room, excited as a teenager. “Hello beautiful. Don’t tell me you’re still in bed.” She says with a laugh. Yeah, pretty much. Your husband terrorised my dreams so much throughout the night I settled for daylight sleep. Immortals don’t need sleep but it’s the most pleasant zen period. I can go days, weeks even without but I love it. Just like eating. “I lost track of time. Did something happen?”“Not at all. I have however organised a dinner party for you later.”“Seriously? You didn’t have to.”“Of course not, but I want to” She says, plopping herself on my bed. Goddess, please get up and leave already. I really don’t want to spend time with this female more than necessary. “I’ve known you for all of two days and I already feel like you and I have a l
Celine He stops in front of me, his eyes roaming slowly down my body appreciatively. Heat rises to my cheeks and I try my best to beat it down, as well as the stupid smile on my face. I’ve missed him so much, viscerally. I didn’t know how much until he is standing a touching distance away. It is only the press of a hundred eyes on us that stays me, and forces me to quickly recover my cool. We have an audience and I hope to the goddess none of them saw the tension between us. “Celine. You look beautiful.” I love my name on his lips. His lips. My toes curl with the memory of tasting them. “Thank you, Alpha Lor.” “Just Lor.” There are a few sharp indrawn breaths and I just know it, that only a handful of people, if any are allowed to call him solely by his name. My toes tingle and a smile ghosts my lips again. “Lor.” His name sounds right on my lips. “I trust you are having a good time in our pack house?” The formality and politeness is ridiculous. Is this what it feels like t
Celine Pain wakes me up. It‘s in the middle of the night, and while most immortals are still out and about, I went to sleep two hours ago. And now this. I grip my sheets and groan in pain, writhing on the bed. It feels like someone took a dagger to me and is tearing me apart. The pain is everywhere and nowhere and my teeth hurt from gritting them. For the first time in all of my years, I feel a solid connection to my wolf, and I’m far from thrilled. She howls and claws at herself, sharing the pain and my body shudders as sweat racks my body. ‘Mate.’ She growls. I don’t have time to be stunned. It is the first time I ever heard her voice. How? Not everyone can hear their wolf’s voice. It takes a much more powerful and intelligent wolf to speak to their other half. The pain scalds me again and I bite my lip to keep from screaming. “Stop.” I grit out. “Stop, stop, stop it!” It hurts like a bitch and she cannot hear me either, lost in her pain. ‘Mate!’ She howls again. I almost bu
CelineIt is morning when the heat finally recedes and I collapse. The brilliant days of the sun streams through my window, highlighting me and him and all the forbidden things we did through the night.I think of the random visits I get from Emma about one thing or the other and my heart pounds. Shit. Emma. What have I done? This is not how I wanted this to happen at all. I was supposed to break it to her first, not jump the gun and go straight to being fucked by her husband throughout the night. Not her husband. My mate. Shit, shit, shit, what have I done?“Celine.” His voice is husky, commanding my attention but I don’t look at his face as I scramble off the bed. His hand lashes out and grips my arm and I yelp. He is looking at me with a hard displeased face. “What do you think you are doing?”I’m holding the sheets to my chest and I think of how ridiculous I must look, covering myself from someone that had my ass in the air as he fucked me some minutes ago. “Let go.” I sque
Neem "I thought you would be done dressing up. We are going to be late." I tell Aden. "These buttons are hell." He mutters. "There should be about a hundred buttons on here.""Hardly." I say, amused. "There are only fifteen."Our clothes in Lyria never had buttons and it's always amusing that something so simple always gives him so much trouble. "Might as well be a hundred." He mutters and shaking my head, I go to help. He stares down at me as I work one button to the next. "You are staring.""I can't help it, you're beautiful." He says and I smile. "One would think you were only seeing me for the first time.""It feels like that sometimes." He says. "Sometimes I wake up amazed to have you by my side.""Only sometimes?" I tease him and he laughs. "Come here." He pulls my lips to his and kisses me and I forget about the buttons as I hold on, revelling in the movement of his lips on mine. I moan when his tongue darts in to taste me and his hands clench conclusively on my ass. "D
EmmaOne of the creatures runs at us, foaming at the mouth and bleeding from a dozen cuts. Celine intercepts him and kills him and I stare at her. “They said you controlled these creatures. Control them and end this wretched war.”She shakes her head. “It’s not that easy anymore. I was able to control them when my cat was dominant, when they absorbed my wolf. Someone donated her energy to bring back my wolf, but she neglected to mention that I would lose control of the soldiers when she is restored. I wouldn’t have it any other way anyway.”I sneer. “How pathetic. Of what use are you with your wolf then? You should sacrifice her to save hundreds of lives if need be but you are nothing but selfish as ever.”Her brows rise. “I’m not receiving a lecture on selflessness from you, am I? Now I have seen it all.”Behind us, Lor finally rips the king’s heart out with a roar. The war seems to stop for a second, everyone watching as he twists his head off his throat and sends it flying. And t
Celine They are unending. It is as if the entire world has moved against the Island. My soldiers are not enough, and so people of Lyria have joined, fighting against the enemy but they are lacking in spirit. Perhaps because they have been broken down by the economy but they fall like corn stalk against the enemy. I keep soldiers on their leader constantly, but he is not the only one to be worried about. My soldiers tear into most of the soldiers before they have a chance to defend themselves but too many of them are experienced killers, cutting through our numbers in swaths. I glance behind me but the king and the Whisperer are now gone from their perch, and then finally the harpies are released. Terrible terrible creatures that can ice the blood in your veins with a touch. Where they go, death follows, immortals shrivelling up and dying in numbers. And yet more of their army comes. There are about ten of the harpies and I’m surprised when one of them streams from the ground right i
CelineI feel it when Ismir dies, like a lance directly into my heart. I scream in pain and my attack falters. No. I look back, knowing I will not find him at he balcony he once occupied with his father and the Whisperer. My eyes meet his father’s and I wonder if he knows. My distraction costs me. Strong arms wrap around me from behind and I’m plastered hard against a male chest. “Stand back.” He orders the creatures, keeping them in front of us and me as a shield between them. They angle and pace, the front liners reluctant to attack and skewer me. “What do you think you are doing?” I grit out, trying to break out of his grip but he’s too strong. “You’re coming back with me.” He says, shuffling back. I burst into laughter, a little hysterical. “Are you daft as fuck? You want to leap through the barrier to freedom? The both of us will die before our next breath.”“I passed through the barrier to get here.” He says, his voice resolved. “By some freak accident. You will not be so
EmmaHe has grown so much in three days alone, this baby that has become my last surviving shield.“Dan!” I snap, heading to the balcony. “Yes, Emma.” She says from where she balances precariously on the ledge, not even bothering to look up. I thought the female stuck to my side because she had grown a soft side for me, as I have worked hard to lower her guard. I should have known better, she is an omega herself, an emotional fortress. Since the end of the three days that we raised Alaric, she has completely withdrawn, not even bothering to stand for any other person but the little brat. ”You said the three days were all we needed to ensure his survival.”“Yes. Your boy is stronger than a horse.” She says, raising her face to the sun. “Mama!” The culprit comes toddling out, holding chubby little hands out to me with a grin. I stare at him, my face going sour. “So why the hell does he still follow me around everywhere?!” I ask in dismay. I can’t look across a room without finding h
Neem“You found the source.” He says. His voice is cold and the way he is looking at me scares me. I affect a light tone. “Prince Ismir-““I cannot allow you to live.” Chills race down my spine and I laugh awkwardly. “What are you talking about?” I say, my voice pleading. I always knew my inquisitiveness would land me in trouble one day. I cannot believe the day is finally here. “Why do you always have to go around snooping and putting yourself in situations you have no business being in?”“I’m sorry!” I say, taking a step forward. “I’m sorry okay? This will never happen again.”“You are right, it won’t.” He says and then he shifts. I scream and dive to the side as he leaps, coming up on my knee and watching him nearly crash into the crystals. He sidesteps them in a precarious move in the last second and spins around, furious. I’ve never seen him shift, and for good reason, I realise. That is no wolf, he looks like he belongs amongst the deformities on the front line. He is thre
NeemI burst into the library, unconcerned about the racket I’m making as I race through the shelves to the back. Maria is reading a book and doesn’t bother to put it down. “Ordinarily, you should be banned from coming into the library.” She says placidly. “Outside.” I say urgently. “They are engaged in a fight. Celine and-““I know.” She cuts me off, not taking her eyes off the book. I gape at her. “You do? Then how can you be so calm?”“I am calm. I would recommend some to you too. What concern is it of mine if two idiots want to kill each other?”She’s right, she doesn’t give a fuck. She has said it enough times and yet she was the first person I thought of when I needed help.“I need your help.” I say and she finally puts the book down and pins with a stare piercing enough to make me squirm. “I see you got your tongue back.”“I need your help.” I say again, refusing to be redirected. “No.” She says, making me gape again. “No? But you don’t even know what I want to ask.”“I d
Prince Ismir“How did he come through the barrier?” Father snarls, finally thrown off his feet by the unexpected happening. “I don’t know.” The Whisperer says, my first time hearing him utter those words. “It should be impossible.”Apparently not, if he’s right there. “What do you know about him?” I ask. There is something about him that has my hair standing on end. It is simply my most primitive instincts recognising a threat, a major one.“Nothing,” The Whisperer says. “But judging by his power and the fact that he entered the barrier unscathed, there are only a few people that come to mind. I believe that is her mate, the one commonly known as the demon wolf.”“What?” I say, startled out of the blue. Is that where the sense of familiarity comes from? Am I feeling her familiarity with him? “She does not look like she recognises him.” I say, tracing her location.“Not with the the amount of poison we had to pump into her system.” He says. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t ev
LorFor the umpteenth time, I put a hand on the barrier and it goes straight through. My hand curls into a tight fist and I punch it hard. Nothing. It is just air. The demarcation that shows the island of Lyria, a slight shimmer in the air is quite obvious if you know what you are looking for. Otherwise, your eyes would probably skip right over it. We have besieged this perimeter for two days now and to my frustration, we have nothing to show for it. Not a soul has stepped out of it, and neither can we step inside either. If I didn’t have a strong gut feeling that she is behind that barrier, I would have believed that it is all a conjecture of my deranged mind.Maddilla comes to a stop beside me and peers into the barrier. It is not just Bloodbound pack but nearly every damn pack this side of the world out here. There are more than a hundred and fifty packs here, each one of them as eager and enthusiastic to pierce the barrier of the island as the next. I didn’t have much convincing
